Eric Swalwell Named As One Of Pelosi’s Impeachment Managers

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced nine managers she has chosen to lead President Trump’s second impeachment, with Rep. Eric Swalwell among them.

Swalwell’s inclusion is a bit of a surprise, having been named in a report last month indicating he had been the target of a Chinese spy.

“Congressman Swalwell serves on House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, where he chairs the Intelligence Modernization and Readiness Subcommittee, and on the Judiciary Committee,” a press release from the Speaker’s office reads.

“He is a former prosecutor and is the son and brother of law enforcement officers.  He is serving his fifth term in Congress.”

Swalwell has never been a serious member of Congress, let alone somebody who should be placed in positions of power.

His latest rants calling Republican senators objecting to the election results as being members of the “Coup Klux Klan” and falsely alleging they were fraternizing with “terrorists” is yet another example.

Eric Swalwell, Named in Chinese Spy Report, Is Now an Impeachment Manager

Pelosi naming Eric Swalwell as an impeachment manager seems to be a nod that she supports the embattled Democrat congressman despite his alleged connections to a Chinese spy.

A bombshell Axios report last month indicated that a woman by the name of Christine Fang “took part in fundraising activity for Swalwell’s 2014 re-election campaign” and that she interacted with the Congressman “at multiple events over the course of several years.”

Fang had served as a Chinese Intelligence operative with China’s Ministry of State Security.

The FBI warned Swalwell about Fang in 2015 during his first year on the House intelligence committee.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson added to the scandal by alleging during a broadcast that “U.S. intelligence officials believe that Fang had a sexual relationship with” Swalwell.

The Democrat refused to comment on the matter, citing such information as being possibly classified.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) immediately called for Swalwell’s removal from Congress following the reports, while others insisted he should have been removed by the House Intelligence Committee long ago.

Pelosi defended her colleague, saying she didn’t have “any concern” about him.

Swalwell, thus far, has not been accused of any wrongdoing by any intelligence officials.

Other Impeachment Managers Named

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) will serve as the lead impeachment manager. Raskin, of course, plotted Trump’s impeachment before he stepped foot in the White House.

In fact, prior to President Trump’s inauguration day, the lead manager had impeachment on the brain.

“I just know that if I’m going to vote to impeach the man at some point, I would like to be able to look him in the eye on Inauguration Day,” he said when asked if he planned on attending the event.

Demonstrating just how unserious this impeachment team is, Raskin objected to certification of Florida’s electoral votes in 2017.

Yes, the same reason Democrats are screaming that Trump must be impeached, that Republicans must be expelled from Congress, that conservatives must be purged from social media – objecting to electoral votes – is exactly what Raskin did just three years ago.

CNN reported at the time:

Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland rose to object to 10 of Florida’s 29 electoral votes.

“They violated Florida’s prohibition against dual office holders,” Raskin said.

Again, despite the fact that Raskin pointed out that he had his objection in writing, he failed to get a senator’s signature.

In fact, House Democrats tried objecting to the certification of electoral votes for Donald Trump 11 separate times. Why were there no calls for their expulsion?

Calls Mount For Republican Liz Cheney To Resign Leadership Post After Calling For Trump’s Impeachment

A growing number of GOP lawmakers are calling on Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) to resign from her leadership post following a statement indicating she would vote to impeach President Trump.

Cheney, the House GOP Conference chairwoman, came out as the No. 3 Republican Representative to say she would vote in favor of impeachment.

“The President of the United States summoned this mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack,” Cheney said in a statement.

“Everything that followed was his doing. None of this would have happened without the President.”

Cheney added, “The President could have immediately and forcefully intervened to stop the violence. He did not.”

“There has never been a greater betrayal by a President of the United States of his office and his oath to the Constitution,” she concluded in some of the harshest rhetoric yet seen by a Republican lawmaker.

Calls Mount For Liz Cheney to Resign After Impeachment Statement

Showing a divide in the Republican party over the impeachment issue, some lawmakers called on Liz Cheney to resign from her leadership post after the comments.

“I don’t think she should be the chair of the Republican conference anymore,” Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), the head of the House Freedom Caucus, told Fox News.

“The reality is she’s not representing the conference – she’s not representing the Republican ideals.”

Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT) also joined calls for Conference Chair Liz Cheney to resign from leadership after her call to impeach President Trump.

“When Representative Cheney came out for impeachment today, she failed to consult with the Conference, failed to abide by the spirit of the rules of the Republican Conference, and ignored the preferences of Republican voters,” Rosendale said in a statement.

“She is weakening our conference at a key moment for personal political gain and is unfit to lead. She must step down as Conference Chair.”

Cheney Working Against President Trump

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) called for Cheney’s resignation over the summer, suggesting she had been working behind the scenes to squash the President’s agenda.

“Liz Cheney has worked behind the scenes (and now in public) against @realDonaldTrump and his agenda,” Gaetz tweeted. “House Republicans deserve better as our Conference Chair. Liz Cheney should step down or be removed.”

President Trump referred to Cheney and Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) as part of a “surrender caucus” after both went on record to state they would not object to the electoral vote count.

Trump has long portrayed her as a war hawk in opposition to his administration because he refuses to engage in “endless wars.”

“Liz Cheney is only upset because I have been actively getting our great and beautiful Country out of the ridiculous and costly Endless Wars,” Trump tweeted amidst Gaetz’s calls for her to step down.

“I am also making our so-called allies pay tens of billions of dollars in delinquent military costs,” he added. “They must, at least, treat us fairly!”

Biggs, according to Fox News, said if Cheney weren’t as high-ranking a Republican on the Conference her comments would likely be dismissed.

But her leadership role is why she must step down.

Biden’s Dilemma: Unify The Country Or Impeach President Trump?

Congressional Democrats’ rush toward impeachment has put Joe Biden in a difficult position before he’s even taken the oath of office.

Does he follow the desires of his fellow Democratic Party leaders to punish Donald Trump for stirring up an angry mob that ran amok at the U.S. Capitol?

Or does Biden heed his own oft-repeated campaign promise to weigh the desires of those Americans who voted against him as well as the historic numbers who voted for him?

The nation is struggling to pick up the pieces and come to terms with last week’s insurrection at the Capitol building by Trump-supporting extremists.

At least five people, including one police officer, died. Hundreds more were threatened and terrorized. Another Capitol Police officer on duty that day died by suicide over the weekend, his family announced Monday.

Democrats are putting the blame squarely on President Trump’s shoulders – but not only Democrats. White House and administration staffers have resigned in droves, including three members of Trump’s Cabinet.

Many prominent Republicans — including several onetime supporters — have denounced Trump for instigating the Capitol attack.

But the rank-and-file are not yet convinced. A new Frank Luntz poll released Monday found that only 25% of Trump voters agree he is mostly responsible for the assault on the Capitol, while 62% said he was only “somewhat” or “only a little” to blame.

So, the question for the incoming president is pretty basic: In such a hyper-partisan political environment, is compromise even possible?

After the cataclysmic events of Jan. 6, lawmakers and pundits have frequently invoked the words of Ben Franklin — that the Founding Fathers rejected a monarchy in favor of “a republic, if you can keep it” — along with President Lincoln’s prophetic declaration that “a house divided against itself cannot stand.”

Two months after winning the presidency, Biden’s post-election words intended to lower the temperature in Washington and across the country already seem dated as he declines to clearly state whether he backs his party’s pursuit of the 25th Amendment or a second impeachment.

“Let this grim era of demonization in America begin to end here and now,” Biden said Nov. 7 in his first speech after he was declared the victor. “This is the time to heal.”

But Biden didn’t count on a horrific attack on the Capitol, nor on Trump’s steadfast refusal to acknowledge his defeat, which are testing that commitment to unity as he is being pressed by other party leaders bent on revenge.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and new Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer are rejecting calls from a bipartisan group of House members to stop the drive to impeach Trump on his way out the door.

They want to put all Republicans on record as to whether they will protect Trump from being removed from office even though he will be out anyway in eight days.

With roughly a week left before Biden is inaugurated, House Democrats are set to impeach Trump for a second time this week.

The only question is whether they will send the impeachment articles over to the Senate right away or wait for Biden to complete his first 100 days and have most, if not all, of his Cabinet confirmed.

House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn has suggested Democrats wait for that period to allow Biden to assemble his administration and begin work on his agenda, while House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer has said he wants to send the articles to the Senate immediately.

“Doing nothing is not an option,” a veteran Democratic operative told RealClearPolitics.

Pelosi has admitted that her interest in impeachment is to prevent Trump from running again in 2024 — so the impeachment push has become a way for Democrats to permanently cancel Trump and any chance for a political resurgence.

Plenty of voices, so far going unheeded, are pressing for a less polarizing beginning to Biden’s presidency.

Members of the bipartisan House Problem Solvers Caucus, along with a several centrist senators, are pushing for a congressional censure of Trump instead, arguing that a last-ditch impeachment effort will backfire on Biden and Democrats by inciting more violence while turning Trump into a martyr.

Rep. Tom Reed, a New York Republican, has circulated a letter imploring Biden to reject what he’s calling “snap” impeachment, which would go to a vote without the deliberations of a traditional hearing.

Constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley has argued that such a step would only “inflame political divisions in our country,” and he urged that Trump’s future should be left to “history and the voters to decide — not canceled by congressional fiat.”

Turley, who also argued against the first impeachment, denounced Trump’s Jan. 6 speech to his supporters as “reckless and wrong” even before they stormed the capitol.

He also praised Vice President Mike Pence for defying Trump in rejecting his claim that electoral votes could be “sent back” to the states.

“Yet, none of this is license for Congress to rampage through the Constitution with the same abandon as last week’s rioters did in the Capitol,” Turley wrote Monday.

Nonetheless, Pelosi is moving forward with a demand that Pence invoke the 25th Amendment to declare Trump unfit and remove him from office.

Such a move would require Pence to convene the Cabinet, a majority of whose members would then need to declare Trump unable to perform as president.

With the three Cabinet members already gone, it seems a futile ultimatum, especially after Pence and Trump met Monday and agreed to work together for the final week of the presidency.

Pence’s rejection of this Democratic demand means House Democrats will move forward with a vote on a single article of impeachment as soon as Wednesday.

As his presidency is set to begin, Biden seems torn by these developments. He could try to change the tone in Washington by leaning on his party’s leaders to forgo another divisive impeachment fight against Trump.

But so far he hasn’t. On Monday, he signaled a willingness to entertain a “bifurcated” first 100 days, sharing progress on his initiatives with a Senate impeachment trial.

“Can we go half day on dealing with impeachment and half day getting my people nominated and confirmed?” he pondered Monday when pressed on the matter after receiving his second dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

“I haven’t gotten an answer from the parliamentarian yet,” he said.

Others quickly filled in the leadership vacuum to remind Biden that the Senate operated in the same dual-track way during the early 2020 unsuccessful impeachment trial.

Laurence Tribe, a fiery anti-Trump Harvard law professor, said the Senate, “if halfway responsible,” will hold a short impeachment trial as soon as possible.

Tribe authored a book on the case for impeaching Trump along with Joshua Matz, who served as the counsel for the House Judiciary Committee during Trump’s impeachment proceedings in late 2019.

“An impeachment trial needn’t get in the way of a forward-looking agenda for the Senate,” Tribe tweeted Monday night. “It’s increasingly looking like that’s the way forward: bifurcated days, half impeachment trial, half other business.”

So much for unity and turning the page on Donald J. Trump.

Report: Biden Worried Impeachment Will Slow His Agenda

President-elect Joe Biden is reportedly concerned that implementation of his agenda will be slowed significantly by the insistence of Democrats to impeach President Trump for a second time.

House Democrats are expected to begin debate on impeachment Wednesday morning, setting up Trump to be the first President to ever be impeached twice.

The earliest the Senate could begin an impeachment trial would be January 20th, according to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, the day of Biden’s inauguration.

Biden, knowing that the Senate process for potential conviction would be time-consuming, is concerned his agenda could get derailed right out of the gate.

“I had a discussion today with some of the folks in the House and Senate,” Biden told reporters.

“The question is whether or not, for example, if the House moves forward – which they obviously are – with the impeachment and sends it over to the Senate, whether or not we can bifurcate this,” he revealed.

Will Biden’s Agenda Be Sunk by Democrats Obsession With Impeachment?

Biden’s correct in asserting that the impeachment process could get in the way of his agenda.

Confirmation of Cabinet picks, for example, might have to take a backseat to what House Speaker Nancy Pelosi defines as an “imminent threat” to “our Democracy.”

Fox News reports that Senators in such a scenario would, according to Senate rules, meet six days a week, taking only Sunday off.

Biden wants to split time, it would seem.

“Can we go half-day on dealing with the impeachment and half-day getting my people nominated and confirmed in the Senate?” he asked.

Perhaps he’s unsure of what ‘imminent’ means. Or perhaps the Trump impeachment is not quite the threat Pelosi is making it out to be.

House May Delay Sending Articles to Senate

Senate Minority – soon to be Majority – Leader Chuck Schumer indicated that his colleagues might have to do as Biden asks and split time on the matters of the day.

“We’re going to have to do several things at once, but we’ve got to move the agenda as well,” Schumer told the Buffalo News. “Yes, we’ve got to do both.”

House Majority Whip James Clyburn might have a plan to help put impeachment on the backburner altogether while Biden starts to get his agenda rolling.

Earlier this week, Clyburn said House Democrats may wait until Biden’s first 100 days in office to send articles of impeachment to the Senate.

“It just so happens that if it didn’t go over there for 100 days, it could – let’s give President-elect Biden the 100 days he needs to get his agenda off and running, and maybe we’ll send the articles sometime after that,” Clyburn said.

A report last month indicates Biden was poised to unleash “a flurry” of executive orders aimed at “undoing” the Trump administration’s efforts to reform key government agencies.

His agenda though, might be derailed

CNN’s Brian Stelter: ‘Responsible Networks’ Shouldn’t Air Trump’s Visit To Border Wall Live And in Full

CNN reporter Brian Stelter, who produces a newsletter called ‘Reliable Sources,’ claims “responsible TV networks” shouldn’t air President Trump’s visit to the border wall.

The President is scheduled to visit Alamo, Texas today to check on the progress of the wall on the U.S. southern border.

In the latest iteration of his newsletter, Stelter dismissed Trump’s appearance as a “stunt” and tried to shame other networks into not airing the event for fear that the President could make controversial comments.

“There’s a lot of concern about what he’ll say and how he’ll say it,” the CNN reporter said. “Let me just reiterate what I said on CNN Monday morning: Responsible TV networks will not air Trump live and in full. Not after his incitement last week.”

He then claimed his network and other far-left outlets would be more responsible in airing the event than say, Fox News.

“But I think we’ll see a repeat of last Wednesday’s rally coverage, meaning that Fox and other pro-Trump networks will air Trump live, while other outlets will exercise editorial judgment and ingest what he says, then decide if any of it is newsworthy,” surmised Stelter.

CNN’s Brian Stelter Wants to Censor Trump’s Visit to the Border Wall

It’s bad enough that Big Tech companies are actively doing everything in their power to suppress news and statements made by the President, but now CNN, a supposedly mainstream outlet, is rallying their liberal peers to join in.

Think about what he is essentially saying in that message.

We, the arbiters of truth at CNN, will watch President Trump’s visit to the border wall first, and only then will we decide if you, the viewer, have a right to know what happened.

Glenn Greenwald, a co-founder of The Intercept, slammed Stelter for a very similar interpretation.

“Silicon Valley defenders: Censoring Trump from all the monopolistic platforms is no big deal. He still has a press room,” Greenwald mocked.

He added, “The press: we should censor what Trump says and only broadcast and report the parts we want the public to hear, concealing the rest.”

The Media is the Most Corrupt Institution in America

Greenwald also highlighted a New York Times columnist who he says is perfectly content with Big Tech censorship “as long as they use that power to censor her adversaries, not her allies.”

“That is the authoritarian mindset in its purest expression, right there,” he added. “As long as Silicon Valley monopoly power is harnessed to silence those who think differently than I, I support it.”

Greenwald points out that there hasn’t been a single voice of opposition to silencing Trump and his supporters, with many media outlets actually cheering the Big Tech monopolies on.

Back to Stelter, the reality here is that he doesn’t want CNN to cover a story that might put President Trump in a positive light, like a visit to the border wall.

Do you think for one moment CNN wouldn’t cover the event “live and in full” if Trump were to discuss the ongoing impeachment effort or if he were to make a statement of resignation?

Instead, he’s there to celebrate an American achievement, as one White House official put it: “The completion of more than 400 miles of border wall — a promise made, promise kept.”

That’s what they really don’t want you to hear about. And it just might work, now that the President is unable to share videos of his speech or his accomplishments on social media.

What kind of country do we live in where the one man who can’t speak to the American people directly right now is the President of the United States?

Hillary Clinton Calls Capitol Riots ‘Result Of White-Supremacist Grievances,’ Agrees Trump Should Be Impeached

Hillary Clinton claims the Capitol riots were the “the tragically predictable result of white-supremacist grievances fueled by President Trump” and supported calls for his impeachment.

The comments come in a published op-ed at the Washington Post.

In addition to calling for the President’s impeachment, Mrs. Clinton also demanded any Republican lawmakers who objected to the certification of electoral votes be forced to resign.

“Removing Trump from office is essential, and I believe he should be impeached,” she writes.

“Members of Congress who joined him in subverting our democracy should resign, and those who conspired with the domestic terrorists should be expelled immediately,” Clinton added.

Hillary Clinton: Trump Should Be Impeached But It Won’t Remove White Supremacy From America

Clinton went on to suggest that even Trump’s impeachment would not result in “white supremacy” being eradicated.

“That alone won’t remove white supremacy and extremism from America,” she stated.

You have to hand it to the Democrats – no matter how misinformed their talking points are – they just keep dishing out those talking points with total disregard for reality.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also made racial allegations against those who stormed the Capitol, stating they chose “their whiteness” over Democracy.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama ignored the fact that a white, unarmed 14-year Navy veteran was shot dead as a result of the protest, and instead claimed those involved were treated differently because they weren’t black.

Her husband echoed the same sentiment.

President-elect Joe Biden chimed in saying “that if it had been a group of Black Lives Matter protesting … they would have been treated very, very differently than the mob of thugs that stormed the Capitol.”

Prominent Democrat figures took a mostly peaceful protest about election integrity and turned it into a Klan rally. That’s how little these people think of Trump supporters.

Clinton’s Advice on Dealing with Extremists

Clinton proceeded to outline her thoughts on how incoming President Biden should deal with “white supremacists and extremists.”

“There are changes elected leaders should pursue immediately, including advocating new criminal laws at the state and federal levels that hold white supremacists accountable and tracking the activities of extremists such as those who breached the Capitol,” she wrote.

Yes, the woman who made the phrase “superpredator” in referring to young African-Americans famous, who said they needed to “bring them to heel,” and who was mentored by the late Senator Robert Byrd, a recruiter for the KKK, has some thoughts on dealing with racists.

Clinton also celebrated Big Tech’s efforts to shut the President down.

“Twitter and other companies made the right decision to stop Trump from using their platforms, but they will have to do more to stop the spread of violent speech and conspiracy theories,” she said.

The Clinton op-ed is little more than the bitter ramblings of a person who has been sulking over her election defeat in 2016.

There is no evidence that the Capitol protests were fueled by race. There is no evidence that President Trump, who made multiple pleas with protesters to “go home” and “go in peace” is responsible for the violence that took place.

Yet, the Washington Post runs the disinformation campaign while Big Tech platforms help share it. The Democrat state-run media knows no lows with which they are unwilling to sink.

Devin Nunes On Big Tech Parler Ban: ‘There Should Be A Racketeering Investigation’

Republicans Congressman Devin Nunes, the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, said Sunday that the Justice Department should launch an investigation into tech companies’ efforts to remove Parler from their platforms.

Nunes made his comments on Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”

“Well, Maria, when I wrote that book, I was hoping to warn Americans so that they would vote right and that maybe this wouldn’t happen and this could be prevented,” Nunes told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo.

Nunes said the move by Big Tech violated antitrust laws, civil rights and the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.

“Unfortunately, it’s far worse than what I could even imagine,” Nunes said. “The effect of this is that there is no longer a free and open social media company or site for any American to get on any longer, because these big companies, Apple, Amazon, Google, they have just destroyed a — what was likely — Parler is likely a billion-dollar company.”

“Poof, it’s gone,” he added.

‘This Is Clearly A Violation Of Antitrust’

Nunes then stressed that conservatives need to have the same social media abilities that non-conservatives enjoys.

“But it’s more than just the financial aspect to that,” Nunes explained. “Republicans have no way to communicate.”

“If — and it doesn’t even matter if you’re a Republican or conservative,” he continued.

“If you don’t want to be regulated by left-wingers that are at Twitter and Facebook and Instagram, where you get shadowbanned, nobody gets to see you — nobody gets to see you, they get to decide what’s violent or not violent, it’s preposterous,” Nunes said.

Nunes then cited the violation of antitrust laws.

“So, I don’t know where the hell the Department of Justice is at right now or the FBI,” Nunes said. “This is clearly a violation of antitrust, civil rights, the RICO statute.”

Nunes Denounces ‘Attack’ On Parler And Conservatives Being Able To Operate On Social Media

“There should be a racketeering investigation on all the people that coordinated this attack on not only a company but on all of those like us, like me, like you, Maria. I have 3 million followers on Parler,” he added.

“Tonight, I will no longer be able to communicate with those people,” Nunes lamented. “And they’re Americans.”

Biden Declares Economic Relief For Businesses Will Be Based Partly On Gender And Race

President-elect Joe Biden announced that economic relief for struggling businesses would be based partly on the gender and race of the owners.

In a video posted to the Biden-Harris presidential transition team Twitter account, the soon-to-be President admitted his obsession with identity politics by noting skin color and gender would play a part in deciding who gets economic relief from the federal government.

“Our focus will be on small businesses on Main Street that aren’t wealthy and well-connected, that are facing real economic hardships through no fault of their own,” Biden announced.

He added, “Our priority will be Black, Latino, Asian, and Native American owned small businesses, women-owned businesses, and finally having equal access to resources needed to reopen and rebuild.”

Response to Biden’s Decision to Make Economic Relief Partially Contingent on Race and Gender is Negative

As you might imagine, response to the Democrat president-elect segregating economic relief for businesses based on race and gender wasn’t warmly received.

“If you don’t vote for me, you ain’t … receiving these government assistance checks?” political commentator Kyle Becker partially joked, making reference to Biden’s famous comment that African-Americans that don’t vote for him “ain’t black.”

Others were less willing to be in a joking mood about Biden’s economic inequality declaration.

To be fair, it was mostly minority-owned businesses that were affected by the riots that Biden, Harris, and the Democrats encouraged over the summer.

Biden’s Choices Always Revolve Around Race and Gender

Who could have possibly imagined that it would be a Democrat President-elect who would drag civil rights back decades by making government decisions based on ethnicity or sex?

Besides everyone, I mean.

Biden is, after all, the man who chose Kamala Harris to be his running mate not based on credentials or resume, but because she is a woman who isn’t white.

The same man who accused Republicans of trying to hold back blacks economically by putting “y’all back in chains” is more than willing to put the chains on white-owned businesses.

“We’re going to make a concerted effort to help small businesses in low-income communities in big cities, small towns, rural communities that have faced systemic barriers to relief,” Biden added.

“Think of the mom and pop owner with a couple of employees who can’t pick up the phone and call a banker, who doesn’t have a lawyer, an accountant, to help them through this complicated process.”

Just as with voter identification, Biden seems to be suggesting it’s the minority and woman-owned businesses without the capability or knowledge to navigate complex applications.

Is there anything more racist than saying certain groups of people aren’t smart enough to figure things out without the government’s assistance?

Republican Senator Pat Toomey Says Trump Committed Impeachable Acts

On Sunday, Republican Senator Pat Toomey said that President Donald Trump committed impeachable acts when he supposedly incited the Capitol Hill riot that happened on Wednesday.

Toomey made his comments on CNN’s “State of the Union” hosted by Jake Tapper.

Toomey Not Sure There Is Enough Time For An Impeachment

Tapper said to the senator, “Your Republican colleague Senator Murkowski of Alaska says President Trump should resign. She said, quote, ‘He’s caused enough damage.’ Do you agree?”

Toomey replied, “Yeah, I do. I think at this point, with just a few days left, it’s the best path forward, the best way to get this person in the rearview mirror for us that could happen immediately.”

“I’m not optimistic it will,” Toomey added. “But I think that would be the best way forward.”

That is when the CNN host brought up impeachment.

Tapper asked, “Do you think the president should be impeached? Would you vote to remove him from office?”

‘The President Did Commit Impeachable Offenses’

Toomey responded, “I think the president did commit impeachable offenses. There is little doubt in my mind about that.”

Sen. Toomey then questioned the timing of a possible impeachment.

“I don’t know,” Toomey said. “As a practical matter, it is actually possible to do an impeachment in the handful of days that are left.”

“It is likely if the House does pass Articles of Impeachment, we wouldn’t get them until — I don’t know Tuesday or Wednesday,” Toomey added. “We are less than one week to go at that point.”

Toomey Wants Trump To Resign: ‘That Would Be A Very Good Outcome’

“I am also not at all clear that it is constitutionally permissible to impeach someone after they have left office,” he added. “So there may not be a viable impeachment route at this point.”

Toomey mentioned a possible resignation.

“But certainly, he could resign, and that would be a very good outcome,” Toomey said.

He added, “I think there is also a possibility that there is criminal liability here.”

New Reuters Poll Claims Most Americans Want Trump Removed From Office

Reuters published a new poll in the wake of Wednesday’s chaos at the Capitol which indicates that a majority of Americans now want President Donald Trump immediately removed from office.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll found that 57 percent of respondents said that they have had enough of the President’s recent antics and believe that Trump should leave office.

Trump Loses Major Support Even Among His Voters

Not surprisingly and in partisan fashion, 90 percent of Democrats believe Trump should exit immediately, while 80 percent of Republicans think the President should simply finish out his term.

President-elect Joe Biden takes office on January 20th.

70 percent of Trump voters said they opposed the violence on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, showing that a strong majority of the President’s supporters are against what unfolded.

Two-thirds of Trump voters also described the Capitol Hill rioters as “criminals” and “fools.”

30 percent of Americans say they would like to see Trump’s staff invoke the 25th amendment to force the President’s removal.

Some Democrats And Republicans Say Trump’s Recent Actions Are An Impeachable Offense

Politicians in both parties have said Trump’s actions are impeachable.

Far-left Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said on Sunday, “One, of course, our main priority is to ensure the removal of Donald Trump as president of the United States.”

“Every minute and every hour that he’s in office represents a clear and present danger not just to the United States Congress but frankly to the country,” she added.

Then AOC went even further.

“But in addition to removal, we’re also talking about complete barring of the president, of Donald Trump from running for office ever again and in addition to that, the potential ability to prevent pardoning himself from those charges that he was impeached for,” Ocasio-Cortez insisted. 

Sen. Toomey: ‘The President Committed Impeachable Offenses’

Republican Senator Pat Toomey said on Sunday, “I do think the president committed impeachable offenses, but I don’t know what is going to land on the Senate floor, if anything.”

“I think at this point, with just a few days left, it’s the best path forward, the best way to get this person in the rearview mirror for us that could happen immediately,” Toomey added.

“I’m not optimistic it will but I think that would be the best way forward,” the senator finished.
