Democrat Swalwell Claims If Trump Were President He’d Be ‘Sending Weapons To Russia’

Representative Eric Swalwell accused former President Trump of “rooting” for Russia in their war effort against Ukraine and alleged if he were still in office, the former President would be running arms to Vladimir Putin.

Swalwell made the comments on social media.

The California Democrat roped Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo into his criticism of those he alleges are ‘pro-Russia.’

“Do not let Republicans rewrite whose side they were on before Russia attacked Ukraine. Led by Trump/Tucker/Pompeo many were rooting for Russia,” he wrote. “Let’s be real: if Trump was president we’d be sending weapons to Russia.”

Swalwell Took Donations From Russia ‘Putin Pipeline’ Lobbyist

Swalwell accusing Republicans of being cozy with Russia may be a bit of projection on the congressman’s part.

The Washington Free Beacon reports that Swalwell’s campaign received a $2,900 donation in 2018 and a $5,400 donation to his campaign in 2018 from Vincent Roberti Sr., who chairs the group Roberti Global.

Roberti is reportedly a top lobbyist for Nord Stream 2 AG, the group behind the Russian pipeline at the center of European politics and which President Biden recently sanctioned after that country invaded Ukraine.

Senate Democrats just last month defended Nord Stream 2 by rejecting an effort by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) to impose sanctions related to the Russian-German natural gas pipeline before Biden had to relent after the invasion.

Trump Sent Weapons to Ukraine

ABC News reported in October of 2019 that President Trump had approved the sale of anti-tank weapons to Ukraine.

His administration first approved the sale of $47 million worth of 210 Javelin missiles and 37 launchers to Ukraine in December 2017.

The Washington Post reports that the weapons were more of a “strategic deterrent” to Russia.

Trump later froze $400 million in congressionally approved security assistance to Ukraine after a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

That phone call later became the focus of a successful impeachment effort against Trump.

The former President later released the military aid.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko went to Washington in 2014, when Barack Obama and Joe Biden were in office, and pleaded his case for weapons to defend his country.

He declared at the time “one cannot win a war with blankets.”

Following his speech, The Wall Street Journal reported that “President Barack Obama stuck to his refusal to provide weapons or other lethal military gear to Ukraine.”

Trump has insisted that the Russian invasion of Ukraine would not have happened if he were President.

“This should have never happened. This would not have happened during my administration,” he said. “It’s a sad thing for the world and the country and a lot of people that will be needlessly killed.”

A recent poll shows that a majority of Americans – 62% – agree that Putin would not have invaded Ukraine if Trump were President.

Swalwell recently suggested “kicking every Russian student out of the United States” as a means of retaliating against Putin, something that had it been suggested by a Republican would have resulted in charges of xenophobia.

New Reuters Poll Claims Most Americans Want Trump Removed From Office

Reuters published a new poll in the wake of Wednesday’s chaos at the Capitol which indicates that a majority of Americans now want President Donald Trump immediately removed from office.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll found that 57 percent of respondents said that they have had enough of the President’s recent antics and believe that Trump should leave office.

Trump Loses Major Support Even Among His Voters

Not surprisingly and in partisan fashion, 90 percent of Democrats believe Trump should exit immediately, while 80 percent of Republicans think the President should simply finish out his term.

President-elect Joe Biden takes office on January 20th.

70 percent of Trump voters said they opposed the violence on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, showing that a strong majority of the President’s supporters are against what unfolded.

Two-thirds of Trump voters also described the Capitol Hill rioters as “criminals” and “fools.”

30 percent of Americans say they would like to see Trump’s staff invoke the 25th amendment to force the President’s removal.

Some Democrats And Republicans Say Trump’s Recent Actions Are An Impeachable Offense

Politicians in both parties have said Trump’s actions are impeachable.

Far-left Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said on Sunday, “One, of course, our main priority is to ensure the removal of Donald Trump as president of the United States.”

“Every minute and every hour that he’s in office represents a clear and present danger not just to the United States Congress but frankly to the country,” she added.

Then AOC went even further.

“But in addition to removal, we’re also talking about complete barring of the president, of Donald Trump from running for office ever again and in addition to that, the potential ability to prevent pardoning himself from those charges that he was impeached for,” Ocasio-Cortez insisted.

Sen. Toomey: ‘The President Committed Impeachable Offenses’

Republican Senator Pat Toomey said on Sunday, “I do think the president committed impeachable offenses, but I don’t know what is going to land on the Senate floor, if anything.”

“I think at this point, with just a few days left, it’s the best path forward, the best way to get this person in the rearview mirror for us that could happen immediately,” Toomey added.

“I’m not optimistic it will but I think that would be the best way forward,” the senator finished.

Report: Democrats Plan To Pursue Investigations Into President Trump After He Leaves Office

Democrats have every intention of pursuing investigations into President Trump and his administration even after he leaves office, CNN reports.

According to the network, some lawmakers have expressed interest in continuing the witch hunt against the President.

“They [Democrats] argue they have an obligation to scrutinize the actions of Trump and his administration that they charge violated constitutional norms and eroded the separation of powers,” the report states.

There are also multiple ongoing lawsuits according to CNN, “including efforts to obtain Trump’s tax returns, key financial documents, testimony from a former White House counsel and grand jury material from the Mueller report.”

These “will continue into the new Congress,” likely throttling any effort by President-elect Biden to create unity in an increasingly dysfunctional place like Washington, D.C.

Democrats Plan To Investigate Trump After He Leaves Office, Something They Did Before He Ever Took Office

To demonstrate how absurd the left’s dogged pursuit of President Trump is and has been, CNN notes Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) “would want to investigate things that are profoundly damaging to our system of government.”

Raskin, of course, plotted Trump’s impeachment before he stepped foot in the White House.

In fact, prior to President Trump’s inauguration day, Raskin had impeachment on the brain.

“I just know that if I’m going to vote to impeach the man at some point, I would like to be able to look him in the eye on Inauguration Day,” he said when asked if he planned on attending the event.

Raskin has also been a strong proponent of invoking the 25th Amendment as a means to remove the President from office.

The Democrats’ past four years, with Raskin as a prime example, have resulted in zero legislative accomplishments as they focused solely on harassing Trump from the day they found out he beat Hillary Clinton.

President Trump Should Pardon Himself Regarding Future Investigations

Congressman Matt Gaetz believes President Trump should consider a pardon for himself and others in his administration as a means to fend off the radical left.

“He should pardon everyone from himself to his administration officials to Joe Exotic if he has to,” Gaetz joked.

While the comments may have been light-hearted, the threat from the radical left is real.

Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ) has demanded a thorough and continuing investigation and prosecution of the President and members of his administration.

Actor Rob Reiner has also advised that a “non-partisan commission” should be created to investigate Trump after he leaves office to “restore faith in our Constitution and the Rule of Law.”

And Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters (CA) has also called for continuing investigations into the President.

“We should send a message across the world that we will not tolerate the undermining of our democracy in the way this president has done,” Waters said.

“So again, I don’t know what President-elect Biden would do, but I certainly would support investigating the president.”

If President-elect Biden had a spine and the brain cells to pull it off, he’d pardon Trump and his family as one of his first moves towards unity and a clear call to the radical left that their destruction of the integrity of the office of the presidency will no longer be tolerated.
