World Health Organization Declares Coronavirus a Global Health Emergency

By David Kamioner | January 30, 2020

As the first case of person to person transmission of the coronavirus has been reported in the U.S., the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland on Thursday labeled the virus a global health emergency.

WHO stated the main reason for their announcement was the spread of the disease to countries outside of China.

Russia has shut down its long border with China and international flights continue to avoid the country.

Inside China millions are quarantined and whole regions are under strict restrictions regarding public transportation and meetings.

As rumors fly that the virus is a Chinese biowarfare weapon gone awry, nations all over the Earth are taking stringent measures to guard their populations against the deadly strain.

The coronavirus has killed 170 people in China as of Thursday and has infected 7,711, the Chinese government reports. The number of cases in the last 24 hours has grown by over 20% and climbing.

16 countries are known to be affected, with 6 cases now in the U.S. Common symptoms of the virus first appear as the flu but then increase in respiratory severity until hospitalization is warranted.

Information though is limited at best because the Chinese are not allowing any foreign medical personnel into China to research and combat the disease.

DEVELOPING: Taliban Claims it Shot Down U.S. Air Force Plane Carrying CIA Officials in Afghanistan

By LifeZette | January 27, 2020

The Taliban has just taken responsibility, claiming they shot down a United States Air Force plane in Afghanistan which they say was carrying ‘high-ranking’ CIA officers.

The Daily Star reported that the aircraft was shot down on Monday afternoon in the Ghazni province of the Middle Eastern nation.

Originally, it was claimed by local officials that the plane was a Boeing 737-400 jet belonging to Ariana Airlines that was carrying 83 people, but photos clearly showed that the aircraft had a U.S. Air Forces logo.

This caused the U.S. military to launch an investigation into the incident, and the Taliban has since admitted that they shot down the plane, which was in fact a U.S. Air Force Bombardier E-11A.

According to the The Daily Star, a Taliban spokesman said in a statement that everyone onboard the plane was killed, and that passengers included high-ranking CIA officers.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid added that “lots” of U.S. service members were killed in the crash, but since the terrorist group is known to exaggerate when it comes to casualty figures, it is unknown at this time just if the statement is true or not.

The plane reportedly came down in the mountainous Deh Yak district just 10km (6.2 miles) from a U.S. military base at around 1:15pm local time.

The area where the plane crashed is controlled by the Taliban, which made it difficult for Afghan forces to reach the crash site earlier.

The U.S. Air Force has yet to officially commented on this situation.

“We are aware of the reports and are investigating,” an official with the U.S. Defense Department told Military Times. “At this point, we cannot confirm it is a DOD [Department of Defense] asset.”

Ghazni police commander Ahmed Khalid Wardak told the BBC that there is currently no information available about casualties, as it is unknown just how many people were onboard the plane at the time of the crash.

Pence and Prince Mark Solemn Occasion, Battle Domestic Anti-Semites

By David Kamioner | January 26, 2020

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence and heir to the British throne Prince Charles of Wales both attended the World Holocaust Forum in Jerusalem on Thursday.

Press reports mistakenly said the Prince snubbed Pence. But they met before the main reception and thus had no need to speak at length again during it. That’s when the media said they saw the snub.

The two men face interesting scenarios in their own nations in regards to anti-semitism.

In the UK the far left Labour Party, the main opposition to Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s strong and popular Conservative Party, is rife with anti-semitism. It got to the point in the recent UK election campaign that Labour party members and office holders left it in the middle of the hustings, so as not be associated with such a vile grouping.

Labour’s anti-Israel views, its cozying up to Middle East terrorists, and its fear to fight Islamist extremism is considered a large contributing factor to its tremendous bashing by the Tories at the polls.

Here we see Democrat leaders like Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib take a once pro-Israel party and drag it to the edge of reflexive anti-Israeli stands and associated anti-semitism.

Thus both men have challenges on their hands.

Pence has pro-Israel President Trump’s ear. Also, as a possible successor to Trump, Pence may have to navigate his own way through these treacherous geopolitical and ethnic waters. For the sake of both nations he dare not run aground now or later.

As a constitutional royal with family issues that would drive any father to distraction, Prince Charles does have a role to play in the UK’s social and political debates. But he can not exert himself too strenuously in this regard. That would violate the constitutional settlement that took place after the Glorious Revolution of 1688. In that most British of coup de tats, King James II, who tried to rule, was overthrown by his son in law and daughter, William and Mary, who agreed to reign but not rule. That has since been the practice.

At any rate, both the U.S. and the U.K. face internal anti-semitic political movements. It is good to know that leaders of each nation are fighting against the pernicious doctrine.
