Bill Maher Regrets Trump Impeachment: It ‘Turned Out To Be A Horrible Thing’

Liberal talk show host Bill Maher surprised everyone on Friday’s episode of “Real Time with Bill Maher” when he admitted he now regrets the impeachment of President Donald Trump, saying that it “turned out to be a horrible thing.”

While talking to leftwing documentary filmmaker Michael Moore, Maher pointed to Trump’s recent firings of various inspectors general, complaining that they got very little media attention amidst COVID-19. He believes that much of this lack of coverage can be traced back to Trump’s impeachment.

“Just the impeachment, you know, I mean, if I could do it over again I wouldn’t because it just emboldened him,” Maher said, according to Fox News. “Now he can conduct this war on accountability and nobody even— it barely made the papers. I bet you people are watching this and going, ‘Wow, I’ve never heard that because the news is all COVID.'”

Moore agreed with him, going so far as to say the removal of the government watchdogs makes Trump “very dangerous.” This comes one month after Maher called for Trump to be impeached for “favoring” states that “are nice to him” during the coronavirus pandemic, according to The Blaze.

“I find one of the most galling parts about this is that the president is favoring certain states over the others. Governors who are ‘nice’ to him, as he calls it, get a lot of attention and all of the equipment they want,” Maher told Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT). “To me, this is even more of an impeachable offense than what he did with Ukraine or Russia.”

Maher has long been vocal about his support for impeaching Trump, voicing his support for it in January of 2019. “I don’t know how we get out of this except by getting him out of office,” Maher said. “I wasn’t necessarily for impeachment until recently, but I think you have to go ahead and do it.”

Democrats were so focused on their effort to impeach Trump earlier this year that they almost completely ignored COVID-19 when the virus was starting to make its way to the U.S. Had Democrats not been distracting everyone with their impeachment nonsense, there’s no telling where we’d be with coronavirus today.

President Trump Taunts Romney Over Coronavirus Test Results

President Donald Trump again taunted Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) Wednesday, this time over the results of his coronavirus test.

Romney announced on Tuesday that his test results came back negative, but would have to remain in quarantine for the remainder of an initial 14-day period.

“Thankfully I’ve tested negative for COVID-19,” the at-times Republican wrote to his followers on Twitter.

“Nevertheless, guidance from my physician, consistent with the CDC guidelines, requires me to remain in quarantine as the test does not rule out the onset of symptoms during the 14-day period,” he added.

Trump Just Can’t Resist

The President couldn’t resist taking a jab at Romney, firing off an early morning tweet laced with sarcasm over the “RINO’s” negative test results.

“This is really great news! I am so happy I can barely speak,” he quipped.

“He may have been a terrible presidential candidate and an even worse U.S. Senator, but he is a RINO, and I like him a lot!” Trump announced.

Can Barely Speak

While the President claims he can barely speak on the matter due to overwhelming joy, this is the second time he has trolled Romney over the serious effects of potentially being exposed to coronavirus.

Earlier this week, Romney announced that he would have to self-quarantine upon learning that Senator Rand Paul had become the first of his colleagues to test positive for coronavirus.

He explained that the two had “sat next” to each other “for extended periods in recent days.”

Trump responded, not by joking about the virus, but by joking about Romney having to be isolated.

“Romney is in isolation?” he asked a reporter. “Gee, that’s too bad.”

Trump Mocks Avenatti Too

Romney has been a perpetual thorn in the President’s side, most recently suggesting Trump was ill-prepared for the coronavirus crisis.

This, despite the fact that many experts, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, have said his actions very early on saved lives and will prevent the United States from going down the same path as Italy.

Not to mention Romney, around the same time Trump was taking precautions to protect America in late January, was joining Democrats in voting for the President’s impeachment.

Trump was really dishing out the sarcasm, as he also went after media-darling Michael Avenatti.

A judge rejected Avenatti’s plea for release from prison due to the coronavirus crisis. He was convicted for attempting to extort more than $25 million from Nike in February.

Colbert Discusses Coronavirus: Says He Wishes We Could Go Back To When ‘We Were Looking Forward To Impeaching Trump’

March 12, 2020

Late night television host Stephen Colbert has had enough of living in the dark times surrounding the coronavirus. On his show last night, Colbert reminisced about the “good old days” when he and his fellow Democrats were “looking forward to impeaching” President Donald Trump.

“A few months ago was great, it was the holidays, I was drunk on eggnog, I was watching Cheer, I was falling in love with Baby Yoda,” Colbert said to open his show on Thursday night. “I was looking forward… I was looking forward to impeaching the president, remember that feeling? We’re going to get you, Trump! John Bolton is going to testify and Republicans are going to do the right thing!”

Republican senators ended up dashing the dreams of Democrats when they voted to acquit Trump in his impeachment trial.

“2020 has done the impossible… and made me nostalgic for 2019,” Colbert added, as his typically liberal audience laughed and cheered enthusiastically. Colbert should enjoy this reaction while he can, because starting next week, his show and all other late night television programs will not be filmed before live studio audiences because of the coronavirus, according to Breitbart News.

Colbert’s monologue serves as proof that Democrats were lying when they tried to pretend that they were taking pleasure out of trying to impeach Trump. Nancy Pelosi and her fellow Democrats tried to pretend that the impeachment effort was a somber affair for them, but they could barely contain their excitement over it.

While it comes as no surprise that a liberal like Colbert, who takes pleasure out of bashing Trump on a nightly basis, would fondly reminisce about the impeachment witch hunt against the sitting U.S. president, it doesn’t make it any less despicable. This is the kind of hate that Trump has had to deal with every day since he was elected, which makes all that he has accomplished for this country since taking office all the more impressive.

We can’t wait to see Colbert’s reaction at the end of 2020, when Trump is reelected for a second term. I wonder what year Colbert will be reminiscing about then.
