Romney: ‘No Evidence’ To Back Trump’s Election Fraud Claims

On Monday, Republican Senator Mitt Romney argued that there was no evidence that the 2020 presidential election was stolen, as President Donald Trump has claimed.

Sen. Romney made his comments on CNBC’s “The News” with host Shepard Smith, in a segment that also included updates on a possible new round of COVID stimulus.

Romney On Claims Of Election Fraud: ‘No Evidence Of It’

Smith noted Attorney General William Barr’s resignation by saying, “He’s claiming fraud, senator, and there’s no evidence of it. Bill Barr didn’t go along with it, and now he’s out.”

Romney replied, “Yeah, well, Bill Barr drew the line. I credit him with once you draw the line, if someone steps over it, you say ‘Okay, that’s the consequence.’ So he’s leaving.”

Both men seem to imply that Barr’s resignation has something to do with Trump’s belief that there was rampant election fraud, but there is no evidence to support that claim as Barr’s motive.

Shepard Smith To Romney: ‘How Much Damage Is The President Doing To Democracy?’

Former Fox News anchor Smith then suggested President Trump was undermining America’s democratic principles.

Smith asked Romney, “How much damage is the president doing to democracy trying to overturn the will of the people?”

Romney responded, “The biggest concern that I have is that people here genuinely believe that somehow this election was stolen, and there’s not evidence of that.”

“The president was saying it was stolen even before election day happened!” Romney said. “He said if he loses, it would be fraud.”

“Well, no one knows that,” Romney continued. “I thought I was going to win too when I ran for president in 2012. I didn’t. I didn’t go out and say fraud.”

“We have a process,” Romney said. “We count the votes. That’s the way it is.”

Romney Thinks President Trump’s Leadership Is A Bad Example To The World

Romney would add, “I’m concerned that the cause of democracy here as well as around the world — people look to us. We’re the democratic leader of the world.”

The Utah senator then took another dig at Trump.

“What’s going on now, I’m afraid, is terribly dispiriting to people all around the globe,” Romney insisted.

Romney has long been an outspoken “Never Trumper.”

In 2016, Romney launched an unprecedented attack on his party’s front-runner for the Presidential nomination:

Romney was also the only Republican Senator to vote to convict President Trump during his impeachment.

It is well past time to confront the truth of the Republican Party’s threat to democracy

Watching the depressing and alarming spectacle of 17 Republican state attorneys general joining Texas’s bad faith, frivolous Supreme Court application to overturn the election in favor of Donald Trump, I am reminded that in September 2015, I wrote a post titled “The Dark Truth of John Boehner’s Resignation.”

What was that “dark truth”?

What is important here is not that Republicans object to the limits of their power, but that Republicans apparently cannot accept that such limits even exist.

It sounds crazy, I know, but this represents the true "dark side" of Boehner's resignation: It is another significant step in the Republican Party's shocking withdrawal from our system of democratic governance.

Five years ago, the notion that Republicans were abandoning democracy was considered to be a somewhat important observation, something to be widely shared and discussed. Today? Well, let’s consider a few of the developments since 2015.

Folks, this is insane. It’s an open, ongoing assault on the fundamental tenets of this country, unseen since the run up to the Civil War.

Admittedly, defeating this Republican problem is hard and complex, and viable solutions will take discussions longer than this one post. But allow me to propose we rediscover an essential concept: scandal.

The first and necessary step back requires that our country, our politics, and our media rediscover how to label, report, and resist scandalous behavior. Remember Watergate? Whitewater? Benghazi? None of them compares to this threat to democracy (yes, not even Watergate).

That means reporting this for what it is, and not inviting any co-conspirators on for polite interviews. It means having a panel of historians and civic leaders on, regularly, to discuss the scandal, not a D-list of political hacks. It means consistent front page reporting on this crisis. It means not reporting this as “horse race” politics. And it means that Democratic leadership has to be fighting against this, openly and all the time.

Shutting this down requires that, as a basic first step, we all begin to treat this as the five-alarm fire scandal that it is.

I once called the Republicans’ hunger for power a “dark truth.” Five years later, sadly, it is an open, proud and largely unchallenged truth.

We can’t let this continue.

Report: Eric Swalwell One Of Several Politicians Targeted By Chinese Spy

An Axios report indicates a woman suspected of being a Chinese spy targeted several local and national politicians in California, including former Democrat presidential candidate and current House Rep. Eric Swalwell.

The bombshell report indicates Fang Fang, or Christine Fang, served as a Chinese Intelligence operative with China’s Ministry of State Security.

Fang reportedly used campaign fundraising, networking, her charm, as well as romantic and sexual relationships to get close with politicians between 2011 and 2015.

She “targeted up-and-coming local politicians in the Bay Area and across the country who had the potential to make it big on the national stage,” the report reads.

Axios alleges that Fang engaged in “romantic or sexual relationships with at least two Midwestern mayors” and, as a result, “was able to gain proximity to political power.”

A political operative and a current U.S. intelligence official advised Axios that Fang “took part in fundraising activity for Swalwell’s 2014 re-election campaign” and that the Democrat Rep. “was directly aware of these activities on its behalf.”

They do not allege any of the fundraising was illegal, but they do indicate the alleged Chinese spy was able to place an intern with Swalwell’s office and that she interacted with the Congressman “at multiple events over the course of several years.”

RELATED: Eric Swalwell Slammed For Suggesting Trump Is Guilty Until Proven Innocent

Eric Swalwell Won’t Comment on Alleged Relationship With Chinese Spy

In a statement to Axios, Swalwell’s office asserted that his knowledge of Fang was fleeting and he could not comment due to national security concerns.

“Rep. Swalwell, long ago, provided information about this person — whom he met more than eight years ago, and whom he hasn’t seen in nearly six years — to the FBI,” they responded to the yearlong investigation.

“To protect information that might be classified, he will not participate in your story.”

But the Axios report indicates it was the FBI who had to interject in the Swalwell-Fang connection because they were “so alarmed.”

“Federal investigators became so alarmed by Fang’s behavior and activities that around 2015 they alerted Swalwell to their concerns — giving him what is known as a defensive briefing,” the report indicates.

They note that Swalwell “immediately cut off all ties to Fang” and that “he has not been accused of any wrongdoing.”

Does He Deserve the Benefit of the Doubt?

If Swalwell insists that his relationship with a Chinese spy was brief and inconsequential, who are we to argue? But we find it highly unlikely the Democrat lawmaker would be quite so forgiving had a Republican or President Trump been involved with a spy.

After all, it was this same man who claimed the President was guilty until proven innocent of allegations mounted during impeachment.

Swalwell chose not to participate in this Axios story. President Trump late last year, refused to send documents and witnesses to mount a defense against the House Democrat impeachment circus.

“We can only conclude that you’re guilty,” the California lawmaker stated at the time.

“In America, innocent men do not hide and conceal evidence,” Swalwell added. “They are forthcoming and they want to cooperate and the president is acting like a very guilty person right now.”

Huh. Drawing conclusions based on Swalwell’s thought process would cause him quite a bit of trouble, to say the least.

Swalwell was also one of the biggest congressional promotors of the Russia hoax. In a January 2019 interview on MSNBC, the Democrat asserted President Trump was a Russian agent.

“He’s working on behalf of the Russians, yes,” he falsely claimed.

Former Acting Director of United States National Intelligence Richard Grenell called out Swalwell on the news of his entanglement with a Chinese spy, saying the Democrat “is a total hypocrite and should resign in disgrace.”

Others noted that, as a member of the House Intelligence Committee, Swalwell would have been prone to blackmail had he been one of the officials involved in an actual physical relationship with Fang.

Fang, the Chinese spy who got close to a former presidential candidate in Eric Swalwell, left the United States “unexpectedly in mid-2015 amid the investigation,” according to Axios.

Report: Democrats Plan To Pursue Investigations Into President Trump After He Leaves Office

Democrats have every intention of pursuing investigations into President Trump and his administration even after he leaves office, CNN reports.

According to the network, some lawmakers have expressed interest in continuing the witch hunt against the President.

“They [Democrats] argue they have an obligation to scrutinize the actions of Trump and his administration that they charge violated constitutional norms and eroded the separation of powers,” the report states.

There are also multiple ongoing lawsuits according to CNN, “including efforts to obtain Trump’s tax returns, key financial documents, testimony from a former White House counsel and grand jury material from the Mueller report.”

These “will continue into the new Congress,” likely throttling any effort by President-elect Biden to create unity in an increasingly dysfunctional place like Washington, D.C.

Democrats Plan To Investigate Trump After He Leaves Office, Something They Did Before He Ever Took Office

To demonstrate how absurd the left’s dogged pursuit of President Trump is and has been, CNN notes Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) “would want to investigate things that are profoundly damaging to our system of government.”

Raskin, of course, plotted Trump’s impeachment before he stepped foot in the White House.

In fact, prior to President Trump’s inauguration day, Raskin had impeachment on the brain.

“I just know that if I’m going to vote to impeach the man at some point, I would like to be able to look him in the eye on Inauguration Day,” he said when asked if he planned on attending the event.

Raskin has also been a strong proponent of invoking the 25th Amendment as a means to remove the President from office.

The Democrats’ past four years, with Raskin as a prime example, have resulted in zero legislative accomplishments as they focused solely on harassing Trump from the day they found out he beat Hillary Clinton.

President Trump Should Pardon Himself Regarding Future Investigations

Congressman Matt Gaetz believes President Trump should consider a pardon for himself and others in his administration as a means to fend off the radical left.

“He should pardon everyone from himself to his administration officials to Joe Exotic if he has to,” Gaetz joked.

While the comments may have been light-hearted, the threat from the radical left is real.

Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ) has demanded a thorough and continuing investigation and prosecution of the President and members of his administration.

Actor Rob Reiner has also advised that a “non-partisan commission” should be created to investigate Trump after he leaves office to “restore faith in our Constitution and the Rule of Law.”

And Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters (CA) has also called for continuing investigations into the President.

“We should send a message across the world that we will not tolerate the undermining of our democracy in the way this president has done,” Waters said.

“So again, I don’t know what President-elect Biden would do, but I certainly would support investigating the president.”

If President-elect Biden had a spine and the brain cells to pull it off, he’d pardon Trump and his family as one of his first moves towards unity and a clear call to the radical left that their destruction of the integrity of the office of the presidency will no longer be tolerated.

Whoopi Goldberg Claims Trump Won’t Run For President In 2024 Because He’ll Be In Jail

Whoopi Goldberg’s obsessive hatred for Donald Trump reared its ugly head once again this week when she claimed that he won’t be able to run for president again in 2024 because he’ll be in jail.

‘The View’ Discusses Presidential Pardons

While the panel of the ABC talk show “The View” discussed presidential pardons, cohost Sara Haines asked, “Sunny, how are all these people being pardoned unless they spell out what they did? Don’t you have to have a reason to pardon someone?”

She addressed this question to “The View” cohost and legal analyst Sunny Hostin.

“That’s a great question,” she said. “The bottom line is that the president’s pardon power is extensive. You can’t pardon someone from impeachment. There’s no question you can issue a blanket pardon even for crimes that were committed, maybe could be —that haven’t even been charged, that could be charged.”

“His power is exhaustive,” Hostin added. “One thing he can’t pardon for is state crimes. He can only pardon for federal crimes. I would imagine New York is still open to investigation, Florida is still open to investigation.”

“Letitia James is waiting on him,” said Goldberg, who was clearly itching to have another Trump-bashing session.

“She really is. That’s the attorney general of New York,” Hostin said in agreement.

Whoopi Goldberg Goes In

That’s when Goldberg went in.

She is waiting on him,” Goldberg added. “Well, I think it’s very exciting that, you know, he can try to — he can pardon himself federally, but there are all these people waiting. Letitia James is waiting with her little foot. She is patting that foot, waiting for him to make a step out.”

‘He keeps saying he’s going run in 2024,” she added. “You are not going to run if you are in jail, my friend. That is something you must also think of. I’m just saying tick tock baby.”

Goldberg has been wrong about nearly everything else about Trump. Here’s hoping that she’s wrong about this one, and that she gets a nasty surprise in 2024.

Congressman Matt Gaetz: Trump Should Pardon Himself

Congressman Matt Gaetz believes President Trump should consider a pardon for himself and others in his administration as a means to fend off the radical left.

Gaetz made the comments during an appearance with Fox News personality Laura Ingraham earlier this week.

“President Trump should pardon Michael Flynn. He should pardon the Thanksgiving turkey,” he said. “He should pardon everyone from himself to his administration officials to Joe Exotic if he has to.”

While those comments were seemingly lighthearted, what lies on the horizon when President Trump leaves office – whether in 2021 or 2025 – is anything but.

“You see from the radical left a bloodlust that will only be quenched if they come after the people who worked so hard to animate the Trump administration with the policies and the vigor and the effectiveness that delivered for the American people,” Gaetz explained.

Matt Gaetz Says Trump Should Pardon Himself

Despite a media and resistance party heavily invested in portraying President Trump as a criminal, it is important to note he has never been charged with a crime.

That said, there is actually legal precedence for granting such pardons.

The Washington Post reports:

In Ex parte Garland, the Supreme Court settled the question of preemptive pardons. The justices in that 1866 case decided that while pardons could reach only past acts, the pardon “may be exercised at any time after [the act’s] commission, either before legal proceedings are taken or during their pendency or after conviction and judgment.”

They go on to note that Abraham Lincoln pardoned dozens of people preemptively.

Perhaps most famously, President Gerald Ford pardoned President Richard Nixon, who had not been charged with anything at the time.

Would Joe Biden be willing to tamp down the fires of controversy in America by doing the same for Trump?

Self-pardons have been an issue of much debate during President Trump’s tenure.

Law scholar Jonathan Turley has argued that the President has the right to do so.

“There is no language specifying who may or may not be the subject of a pardon,” he wrote in a USA Today column. “The president is simply given the power to pardon any federal crime.”

“As a textual matter, there is nothing to prevent Trump from adding his own name to the list of pardoned individuals.”

RELATED: Media’s Biased Coverage of the Election May Have Handed the Presidency to Biden

The Radical Left Will Never Stop

Signs of the ‘bloodlust’ Gaetz references have already been seen as Biden has been declared President-elect.

Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ) demanded a thorough investigation and prosecution of the President and members of his administration.

Despite mentioning the phrase “many crimes,” Pascrell’s statement references none, instead making vague allusions to ‘profiting from his office’ and ‘endangering national security.’

Which, incidentally, he may want to draft a statement about the President-elect since evidence regarding his son Hunter’s business dealings with China seem to indicate actual guilt in such accusations.

Additionally, actor Rob Reiner says that a “non-partisan commission” should be created to investigate Trump after he leaves office to “restore faith in our Constitution and the Rule of Law.”

As for the pardon power – federal pardons issued by the president apply only to federal law; they do not apply to civil, state, or local offenses. And New York prosecutors have been harassing the Trump family for years now.

Ivanka Trump, the President’s daughter, recently called them “ruthless” and accused them of “harassment, pure and simple.”

It is harassment and the harassment, quite clearly, is never going to stop.

Trump Snaps At ‘Lightweight’ Reporter: ‘Don’t Ever Talk to the President That Way’

President Trump snapped at a reporter who tried interjecting on his comments about the election, referring to him as a “lightweight” and demanding he shows some respect.

The reporter has been identified in multiple outlets as Reuters White House correspondent Jeff Mason.

The media is portraying it as a meltdown when, in reality, it was a proper reminder to reporters who have shown zero respect for the President of the United States over the past four years exactly where they sit on the food chain.

Trump began with an observation that Biden’s election performance is remarkable in crucial swing states compared to Barack Obama’s past election performances, a fact that raises eyebrows in his view.

RELATED: Report: Media’s Biased Coverage of the Election May Have Handed the Presidency to Biden

Trump Snaps at Lightweight Reporter Jeff Mason

Mason began by asking the President if he’d be willing to concede the election should the Electoral College votes for Biden.

“Just so you understand, this election was a fraud,” he said.

“They have Biden beating Obama in areas that matter in terms of the election in swing states.  And yet he’s losing to Obama all over the place,” Trump continued. “But he’s beating Obama in swing states which are states that mattered in terms of the election.”

Mason tried interrupting the President which didn’t work out too well for him. Trump quickly snaps back at the reporter over his lack of respect.

“Don’t talk to me that way,” Trump scolded. “You’re just a lightweight. Don’t talk to me that way. Don’t talk to …”

“I’m the President of the United States. Don’t ever talk to the president that way,” he continued before shifting to another question.

Trump’s Touchy Relationship With a Biased, Unprofessional Media

President Trump has had to repeatedly battle a biased, unprofessional media that stands as perhaps one of the most corrupt institutions in America today.

At a press conference earlier this year, CNN reporter Jim Acosta claimed his network’s reputation “on delivering the truth is a lot better than yours.”

The President wrecked him on a national stage.

Acosta, of course, struggled to recall the fact that his network had to settle a massive lawsuit with Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann after the cable news station smeared him as a racist for the crime of wearing a MAGA hat.

Or the fact that CNN once had a ‘journalist of the year’ forced to resign at another outlet after it was discovered he fabricated his stories “on a grand scale” for many years.

Or the fact that three of their reporters had to leave the network after the publication of a ‘fake news’ report on Russia that was later retracted.

Or the fact that they blatantly helped doctor a call transcript with Ukraine to help fuel impeachment.

Or the numerous other stories that were proven to be false.

There have been other reporters at other outlets that the President has had to put in their place.

A Yahoo News reporter in April was on the receiving end of a verbal tongue-lashing when he tried to corner the President with false data about coronavirus testing.

President Trump had to tell CNN reporter Jeremy Diamond that his network is “fake news” and explained to the reporter he was sorely lacking in a major area.

PBS reporter Yamiche Alcindor was on the receiving end of several testy retorts by the President over the years.

A study conducted by the Media Research Center recently shows biased media coverage very likely tilted the election in favor of President-elect Joe Biden.

President Trump has repeatedly warned Americans that the media is the “enemy of the people.”

They’ve more than proven him right over the past four years.

Michigan County Board Throws Support Behind Impeaching Gretchen Whitmer

Michigan’s Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer got some bad news this week when a county in the northern part of her state expressed support for a resolution to impeach her that was put forth by three Republican members of Michigan’s House of Representatives.

Michigan County Votes In Support Of Resolution To Impeach Whitmer

The Kalkaska County Board of Commissioners voted four to two in favor of supporting the impeachment effort, according to Michigan Live.

Whitmer has become known for imposing some of the strictest coronavirus lockdown measures in the country on her state. Commissioner David Comai stood by the board’s decision to support the impeachment effort, claiming that  Whitmer’s “unconstitutional executive orders” were to blame for Kalkaska County’s current economic crisis.

This comes days after Republican Representatives Beau LaFave, Matt Maddock and Daire Rendon issued the impeachment resolution, alleging that Whitmer was guilty of “corrupt conduct in office and crimes and misdemeanors” over her latest COVID-19 guidelines.

RELATED: Michigan Lawmakers Push For Impeachment Hearings Against Gretchen Whitmer

Michigan Speaker Of The House Defends Whitmer

Not all Michigan Republicans are behind this effort, however, as the state’s GOP Speaker of the House Rep. Lee Chatfield has spoken out against it. He described the resolution as a “distraction from the real things we have to get done in our state.”

“We’re not the party that impeaches someone because we’re upset with policies that they’ve enacted,” he said, according to Fox News.

“I thought it was shameful what the Democrats did to President Trump last year, and I would assume that any attempt by Republicans right now, with the current set of facts that we have to impeach the governor, would be on the same level,” Chatfield added.

However, Maddock said last week that he has a “growing list of Michigan Legislators” who are planning to begin proceedings to impeach Whitmer, according to The Hill.

When asked why he feels she should be impeached, Maddock claimed that the Democrat has “ignored court orders. Violated our Constitutional rights. Completely ignored due process and the legislature. Weaponized contract tracing databases to aid democrat campaigns,”

Schiff Comes Unglued Over Reports Of Flynn Pardon – Says Trump ‘Acting Like An Organized Crime Figure’

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) came unglued on Wednesday over reports that President Donald Trump is considering pardoning former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.

Back in 2017, Flynn pled guilty to lying to the FBI about contacts he had with Russia, but he later attempted to withdraw this plea, according to The Hill.

Schiff Unravels

While appearing on CNN’s “New Day,” Schiff accused Trump of “acting like an organized crime figure” because he feels that the president is trying to reward people who lie for him.

“It would send a message that at least as far as President Trump is concerned, if you lie on his behalf, if you cover up for him, he will reward you,” Schiff said. “He will protect you, but only if he thinks it’s in his interest.”

“There are others that lied for him that he’s not going to extend that kind of service to, but it just, frankly reflects so ill on our democracy, on the United States,” he added.

“Imagine what people around the world think when we have a president who’s acting like an organized crime figure,” Schiff continued. “But this is who Donald Trump is. It’s who he was on the way into the presidency. It will be exactly who he is on his last days of the presidency.”

RELATED: Hunter Biden Associate Bobulinski Says He Came Forward Because Schiff Accused Him Of Peddling Russian Disinformation

Schiff Admits Trump Could Legally Pardon Flynn

Despite this rant, Schiff could not deny that legally Trump has every right to pardon Flynn, “assuming that it’s not on the basis of some illicit quid pro quo.” However, the Democrat made a point of adding that he does not believe that Trump can pardon himself.

“There are other limitations on the pardon power, but it is very broad and subject to abuse as he has demonstrated,” Schiff said.

RELATED: President Trump Unleashed: ‘Watermelon Head’ Adam Schiff ‘Should Be Locked Up’

Schiff was one of the Democrats who led the impeachment witch hunt charge against Trump during his presidency. That’s why it would not be surprising if he’s planning to lead yet another witch hunt effort against Trump and those close to him, once the president leaves office.

The hatred Schiff has for President Trump remains nothing short of disturbing.

Trump Selflessly Fights Election Corruption

Even by his supporters like me, the president is not usually described as “selfless.” The guy has got an ego and it can be overweening at times. But, as was said decades ago on “The Real McCoys,” “If you can do it, it ain’t braggin’ ”

I think the president knows he’s lost this election even though a lot of his supporters do not. So, why would a guy who is somewhat self-obsessed, as any successful politician is, keep fighting in the courts even though he knows it’s probably a lost cause? Because, more than his ego, he cares about the country. Ok, I’ll wait for some of you to stop laughing.

Trump Cares About America

The president is said to have, during the impeachment trial, replied when someone asked him what he would do if he had to give up the presidency, “Guess I’ll just go back to being a billionaire with a supermodel wife.” True. He never needed the presidency and he doesn’t need this fight now.

He’s not some chuffed up middle class hustler who the establishment has over a barrel, which is what has upset them the most about him. So when it comes down to it, by the process deduction, there is likely one main reason he’s doing this, fighting out those lawsuits around the country, because he cares about America’s future.

Donald Trump understands that if he can make a successful case, legal or political, that this was a stolen election maybe America and the Republican Party will wake up. Maybe Joe Biden will be seen, as we were told Trump was, as a legal yet illegitimate president. Maybe the Republican Party will be proactive in 2022 and legally attack before election day, not only defend after election day.

RELATED: Experts Urged Hillary Clinton To Challenge Election Results In 2016

Trump Is Fighting For Something Bigger

The president understands that if this result is accepted as legitimate the confidence of Americans in the very foundation of the republic will be shaken to its core. Why should we vote if any vote can be overturned by Democrat corruption and hijinks? Thus, he will fight to prove such corruption existed and that it changed the course of the election.

Will that prove successful in getting the president a second term right now? Unlikely. The timing is off, with states certifying and the Electoral College meeting soon. But, it can set us up for 2022 and beyond.

Measures like voter identification, chain of custody ballot security, and stringent oversight of ballot counting could go a long way to restoring trust in the system and ensuring that the person with the most legitimate votes wins the election and, in the case of a presidential election, wins the electoral college votes of a state. That has not been the case this time and the Democrats got away with stealing an election. Never again.
