Senate Republicans recommit themselves to Trump—no matter how much he endangers the country

Sure, Donald Trump is unfit. Sure, Trump may have begged yet another country—China—to help him win reelection. Sure, Trump is emotionally damaged and intellectually addled, according to a written account by his former national security adviser John Bolton.

But does that matter to the Senate Republicans who cosigned Trump's presidency by saving him from conviction without hearing from a single witness? Are you high? No effing way do they have the integrity required for a little self-examination, according to CNN reporting. They're in the tank for Trump—always have been, always will be, no matter what.

Wanna give Senate Republicans the boot? Give $2 right now to say “Bye Felicia” this November.

Asked whether Senate Republicans should have sought to secure Bolton's testimony now that his book is out, the ever-reflective Sen. Ron Johnson responded, "No," adding, "We never should have had an impeachment trial."

Of course, that's not what Bolton said. Based on Trump's persistent pattern of placing his own personal and electoral needs over duty to the country, Bolton said Trump should have been investigated and impeached for more, not less. Trump engaged in "obstruction of justice as a way of life," as Bolton said, referring to his interventions in criminal investigations for personal favors.

Still, Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado, who's likely one of the top two most-endangered GOP senators seeking reelection, had the nerve to speak up and blame House Democrats for not taking Bolton to court over this unwillingness to testify. "The House didn't think it was important," Sen. Gardner quipped. What a weasel. Bolton, who's no hero, did publicly express his willingness to testify in front of the GOP-led Senate—the Republican caucus just refused to hear from him, or any other witnesses for that matter.

The sole Republican senator to express regret about not hearing from Bolton also voted in favor of having witnesses at the trial. “I wish we had a trial with the people testifying under oath,” Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah told reporters.

But most Republicans did the only logical thing one could do in the face of a 500-page manuscript documenting the myriad ways in which Trump is selling out and endangering the country: They refused to comment.

Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming, however, really went the extra mile, affirming that he's more convinced than ever that Trump's the right guy for the job despite begging China to buy more agricultural products in order to secure his reelection. "Different people use different sales techniques," Barrasso offered. Whether they’re legal or not apparently isn’t relevant. "Every president has, one way or another, thought they ought to be reelected. I think President Trump should be reelected. I support his reelection, I'm for it."

Do Republicans even know the Constitution exists? They are  proving themselves more useless by the day, and have no business stewarding the country.

McEnany Crushes Bolton: Takes The Title Of ‘Most Disliked Man In America’ From Comey

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany criticized former National Security Adviser John Bolton, saying he had self-debunked his own book and was quickly becoming the most disliked man in America.

Bolton’s memoir, titled “The Room Where It Happened,” makes many dubious claims, including allegations that President Trump asked for help with his election from Chinese President Xi Jinping.

In an interview with “Fox & Friends,” McEnany said previous claims by Bolton that the President was “perfectly prepared” and that he “understands President Reagan’s peace through strength” mantra, render his new allegations weak.

In fact, she expanded on that theme attacking Bolton’s reputation as a war hawk.

“He is a misguided hawk on foreign policy and a weak dove of an author,” Trump’s press secretary claimed.

Worse Than Comey?

McEnany pointed out that one simply needs to peruse past comments by Bolton prior to being fired that show his new bitter words can’t be trusted.

“This man is someone who praised President Trump as being strong on foreign policy, for not making the mistakes of previous administrations,” she said.

Now he’s going to claim the President sold America out to Xi?

McEnany proceeded to tackle the disdain on both sides of the aisle for Bolton, suggesting he had supplanted another universally despised figure.

“He’s discredited on both sides of the aisle and if you thought James Comey was the most disliked man in America,” she fired off, “I think John Bolton has taken that title.”

Disliked Man

The thing is, McEnany is right.

Sure, once Democrats subpoena him and he provides some glimmer of hope for a new impeachment hoax, he’ll be heralded as courageous and noble.

But for now, even the likes of one Adam Schiff (D-CA) has been highly disdainful toward Bolton.

“When Bolton was asked [to testify], he refused, and said he’d sue if subpoenaed. Instead, he saved it for a book,” Schiff whined. “Bolton may be an author, but he’s no patriot.”

Even that was too much for former Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), who said his literary skills were suspect since he was “sitting in his pajamas pecking away on his iPad” rather than facing scrutiny before Congress.

Bolton Trashes Trump In Seething Book, Many Say Bolton Is Lying

On Wednesday many media sources, including LifeZette, were given access to the manuscript of a new book by former U.N. Ambassador and National Security Advisor John Bolton. In it, Bolton is extremely critical of President Trump.

Bolton’s animosity stems from his bruised ego over his very public firing and the basic geopolitical disconnect between the neocon Bolton and the America First Trump.

But Bolton, who had access to America’s most sensitive secrets, wrote the book without official clearance to safeguard he is not compromising national security. As such, the Trump administration has gone to court to stop publication.

The Justice Department is seeking an emergency injunction halting the release of Bolton’s book, saying Bolton bypassed the necessary classification review process and that his manuscript still contains classified information. If so and it was published, the book could do serious damage to the country’s defense posture and international security status.

There are also those quoted in the book who claim Bolton is not relating the facts accurately.

A source close to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told media late Wednesday: “Bolton is about selling books, not about telling the truth.“ Bolton claimed, during an international meeting, Pompeo passed him a note about the president that read, “He is so full of sh**.” The source added that Pompeo isn’t a note-passer, and suggested Bolton should verify his claim by producing the purported note.

Other Trump officials, including veep Mike Pence, Ambassador Nikki Haley, and Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin, are telling the press that Bolton is making up conversations out of whole cloth.

The president counterattacked in an interview with “Hannity” on Wednesday night and in tweets early Thursday, Trump called Bolton a “Wacko,” a “dope,” and a “disgruntled boring fool who only wanted to go to war.” Trump said The New York Times had described Bolton’s book as “exceedingly tedious,” Trump added: “President Bush fired him also. Bolton is incompetent!”

Among other Bolton claims are these:

On the basis for impeachment Trump allegedly said, “I don’t want to have any f—ing thing to do with Ukraine. They f—ing attacked me. I can’t understand why. Ask [lawyer] Joe diGenova, he knows all about it. They tried to f–k me. They’re corrupt. I’m not f—ing with them.”

On the 2020 ticket Trump, “raised the widespread political rumor he would dump [Vice President Mike] Pence from the ticket in 2020 and run instead with [then-U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki] Haley, asking what I thought.”

But the most serious charges and the crux of the book deal with U.S.-Chinese relations, “Xi told Trump that the U.S.-China relationship was the most important in the world.

He said that some (unnamed) American political figures were making erroneous judgments by calling for a new Cold War with China. Whether Xi meant to finger the Democrats or some of us sitting on the U.S. side of the table, I don’t know, but Trump immediately assumed that Xi meant the Democrats.

“Trump then, stunningly, turned the conversation to the coming U.S. presidential election, alluding to China’s economic capability and pleading with Xi to ensure he’d win. He stressed the importance of farmers and increased Chinese purchases of soybeans and wheat in the electoral outcome.”

Bolton writes: “Xi had explained to Trump why he was basically building concentration camps in Xinjiang. According to our interpreter, Trump said that Xi should go ahead with building the camps, which Trump thought was exactly the right thing to do. The National Security Council’s top Asia staffer, Matthew Pottinger, told me that Trump said something very similar during his November 2017 trip to China.”

The claims that the president considered replacing Pence and making common cause with the Chinese on concentration camps flies in the face of not only the president’s public and privately reported words, but all of his actions to this point. That is why many in and out of the media have doubts about the veracity of this book. But nevertheless, much of the press will use it to bash the president.

Shifty Schiff: Coronavirus Deaths Fault Of Failure To Impeach Trump

Representative Adam Schiff put the blame for coronavirus deaths squarely on the fact that President Donald Trump was not impeached back in January.

Schiff: ‘Little Did We Know How Great The Casualties’ Of Impeachment Failure Would Be

Sparked off by a comment from MSNBC anchor Lawrence O’Donnell, Schiff went on an insane diatribe linking the casualties of coronavirus to the failed impeachment.

“We can’t act even slightly surprised by this because you told us this was going to happen in your argument in the Senate impeachment trial,” O’Donnell put to Schiff.

“Well, we certainly told the senators that he was not going to change, and there was no way to constrain him. That he is who he is, and he would continue to operate the way he had, and indeed, that’s exactly what we’ve seen since,” Schiff replied. “The one thing we dramatically understated is when we asked the question, ‘If you found him guilty, do you really need to remove him given there is another election only nine months away, how much damage could he really do?'”

“We said a lot, but little did we know just how great the casualties would be. Some days we lose the equivalent of the number of people we lost on 9/11,” Schiff claimed, with clearly no self-reflection. “You know, I think that there is no way we could have foreseen just how tragic his malfeasance would be in his remaining months in the administration.”

Absolutely Unhinged!

The RNC called Schiff’s arguments “unhinged” in their tweet covering his appearance, and I am very much inclined to agree. It’s completely deranged to not only put the blame for deaths from the coronavirus on President Trump, but also in the impeachment itself. Ironically, you can make a far more coherent case that the impeachment debacle actually distracted the attention of the Democrats in Congress from the growing threat of the pandemic back in January!

As Fox News host Sean Hannity pointed out on his March 16th show, Democrats weren’t interested in the coronavirus at all. When the first person with coronavirus entered the country on January 21st, the Democrats were “in the throes of an all-consuming, what has been the culmination of a three-year quest to impeach and throw Donald Trump out of office.” On January 23rd, when China sealed off the Hubei province, House impeachment managers were starting their opening arguments. And on January 31st, when President Trump issued the travel ban to and from China and declared a national health emergency, Democrats, including Schiff, were busy trying to impeach him.

Try denying that Schiff!

Judd Apatow Outrageously Says President Trump ‘Normalized Being Insane’

Hollywood director Judd Apatow launched yet another ridiculously outrageous attack on President Donald Trump, this time blaming the tens of thousands of deaths from coronavirus on him and all Republicans.

“He normalized being insane but we will vote Trump and all Republicans out in November,” the “40-Year-Old Virgin” director tweeted on Monday. “They care more about their power than helping people. None stand up and say the President is inept and that is a dereliction of duty. As a party they are responsible for thousands of deaths.”

Apatow is one of many Hollywood stars who have been blaming COVID-19 deaths on Trump and his fellow Republicans despite the fact that the illness originated in China and has killed thousands of people all over the world.

I think [the Senate Majority Leader] and all of these politicians should be prosecuted when this is done for the lies which cost thousands of deaths,” Apatow said after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) called out Democrats for focusing on impeachment while Trump was dealing with the threat of coronavirus. “He knows Trump is a con man who lied to everyone to delay bad news and that led to thousands of additional deaths. They are all murderers.”

Apatow has spent years relentlessly attacking Trump in the most obscene ways possible. “He’s a Nazi. He wants no judicial process. He kidnapped children and commits acts of violence for political gain and to support his racist views,” Apatow said of him in 2018. “He admires violent dictators. Trump is a Nazi. The debate is over. Soon we will have proof he is a Nazi supported by the Russians.”

It takes a special level of narcissism to think that directing comedies like “Knocked Up” makes you an expert on politics. Apatow doesn’t realize that the more he tweets about Trump, the more he shows that he’s just another Hollywood elitist who has lost all touch with reality. As President Trump himself would say: SAD!

Donald Trump prepares to move into his 2020 campaign by blaming COVID-19 on China and … Joe Biden

Being impeached has not slowed down Donald Trump’s attempts to weaponize intelligence agencies and foreign policy against political opponents. In fact, receiving a free pass from Senate Republicans in spite of overwhelming evidence of guilt has made it clear to Trump that he really can dragoon the whole mechanism of the federal government into the Trump 2020 campaign. For months, Attorney General William Barr and special Q-spiracy pal John Durham have been jetting around the world, trying to convince foreign governments to help Trump out by backing up conspiracy theories that he can use in his campaign against Joe Biden.

But as Trump prepares to kick the 2020 campaign into high gear, the situation in the world has changed. That’s going to require a whole new level of conspiracy theory. Now Ukraine is tired and China is wired as Donald Trump prepares to connect Joe Biden to the coronavirus.

Trump is preparing to launch his first major ad campaign for the 2020 election. Doing so at a time when the United States has over 1 million cases of COVID-19 and the death toll has just passed 61,000 may seem somewhat … problematic. But as Jared Kushner proved on Wednesday, the Trump White House is fully prepared to point out that there are still 327 million Americans who are not dead. Yet. That somehow makes saddling the U.S. with a third of all cases around the globe a “great success story.”

According to Politico, the first flight of ads will depict Trump as “showing leadership” despite having to fight against those darned Democrats and that enemy of the people, the free press. Undoubtably, these ads will focus on how Nancy Pelosi distracted Trump from preparing to face the novel coronavirus by moving forward with impeachment. It was, in fact, such a distraction, that Trump could barely manage to fill the entire months of January and February with golf and rallies.

The ads will also focus on just how eager Trump is to bring back the pre-virus economy. That’s a position that might also be a bit of a hard sell considering that the 4.8% shrinkage of the economy that was reported for the first quarter is likely to look like robust growth when the second quarter numbers come in. Donald Trump personally oversaw a disaster that is the biggest national health crisis, the biggest economic crisis, the biggest crisis since World War II, and he blew it—at a cost in lives that won’t be reckoned for months to come and a cost in damage to the economy that may genuinely bring conditions worse than the Great Depression. That is not a tenable position from which to start a campaign. Not even if it comes with a whole new motto.

Clearly what Trump needs is a solution, not one that can cure the virus or bring back jobs, one that allows him to pin the whole thing on someone else. With someone else being Joe Biden.

That’s why the ads won’t just blow the patriotic Trump-ets for more jobs and how-about-that-stock-market. The Republican National Committee has already been engaged in cranking out ads, especially on right-wing outlets, to keep Trump supporters pumped about his bigly leadership in the midst of the crisis. But the angle of those ads is about to change. Coming soon to a television, computer, and phone screen near you: ads that connect Joe Biden with China, along with accusations that China both created the coronavirus and covered up its spread.

Trump has already been laying the groundwork in his daily briefings. He’s repeatedly accused China of hiding information about the origins of the coronavirus and of being responsible for its spread to the rest of the world. Trump has extended these claims to the World Health Organization, cutting off funds to this critical resource in the midst of a pandemic. And over the last week, Trump has made multiple cryptic remarks that “someone a long time ago” made the decisions that caused the COVID-19 epidemic. The introduction of these lines into the daily briefings is absolutely sitting up the next phase of blame-pinning.

As The New York Times reports, the White House is forcing intelligence agencies to dig into Trump’s conspiracy theories in China, just as they did when chasing his claims about Biden and Hillary Clinton across Europe. In particular, Trump has intelligence assets trying to find some connection between a lab in Wuhan, China that tried to prevent the spread of novel viruses, and the release of this virus. It’s part of an escalating campaign to tie what Trump has insisted on calling the “Chinese virus” to the epidemic inside the United States.

The character of that campaign goes beyond just the idea that a virus under study accidentally slipped away from researchers. Almost from the outset, Republicans like Senator Tom Cotton have been pushing the idea that the SARS-CoV-2 virus was created as a bioweapon. In truth, there’s no evidence that the coronavirus came, in any sense, out of a laboratory. Multiple studies have looked at the virus’ genetic structure and found no sign of tinkering. And while much has been made of a letter warning that the Wuhan lab needed more experienced personnel, there is no evidence that it was either studying the novel coronavirus before its release, or had anything to do with that release. That hasn’t stopped Trump from retweeting claims that the virus did come from a lab, or halted the constant stream of White House officials and Republican senators making such claims in social media, on Fox, and on right-wing radio.

But as Trump starts to crank up his campaign, both the White House and right-wing media are warming up to the idea that this weapon had one real target—Donald Trump 2020.

Trump has already falsely claimed that Hunter Biden “walks out of China with $1.5 billion in a fund … and he’s there for one quick meeting, and he flies in on Air Force Two, I think that’s a horrible thing.” Trump has also called for an investigation into the activity of both Hunter Biden and Joe Biden in China. China has refused. Which will surely be pointed at as evidence that there’s a problem.

Neither Biden actually got billions from China. It’s not clear that either ever got anything from China. But don’t be surprised to see not just ads, but an increasing theme on the right that the coronavirus was weaponized to take down the “Trump economy.” That only the biggest crisis in a century could hope to stop the inevitable reelection of Dear Leader Donald Trump. And that both Hunter Biden and Joe Biden have connections to the people who murdered tens of thousands of Americans.

Distractions are Donald Trump’s specialties. And the biggest disaster in ages, demands the biggest, most damnable lie imaginable.

In the meantime, enjoy the ads that are giving Trump heartburn right now.

Romney Is The Only Republican Senator Excluded From New White House Coronavirus Task Force

Mitt Romney is the only Republican senator excluded from a congressional task force created by the White House to formulate a plan to reopen the country.

The administration released a list of members in Congress who took part in a phone call with the President discussing supply chains, the Paycheck Protection Program and “ways to energize the economy.”

The Hill reports that the list “included nearly 70 senators, including all 52 of Romney’s GOP colleagues in the chamber.”

Romney, however, is on the outside looking in.

Romney Excluded

This would be more noteworthy if anyone was under the impression Romney still identifies as an actual member of the GOP.

In reality, he sits on the sidelines with his Democrat colleagues whose work in trying to dismantle the Trump presidency runs more in line with his own political motivations.

Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Bernie Sander (Communist-VT), along with red-state Democrats Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Doug Jones (D-AL) were all left off the task force.

Romney’s Clouded Judgment

Had Romney been included on the task force, there’d be little surprise due to his successful business background. His acumen in creating jobs and improving business economic conditions can not be disputed.

His judgment, on the other hand, has been very clouded over the last few years. Why would the President want someone on a task force to jump-start the economy when:

  1. That person knows an improved economy will help the nation and by extension the President and
  2. That person has a history of trying to hurt the current administration.

It seems like a solid choice NOT to pick Romney.

RELATED: President Trump Taunts Romney Over Coronavirus Test Results

Impeachment Slowed Coronavirus Response

Worth noting that many actual Republicans in Congress have admitted that the impeachment charade was a key factor in their inability to help the President take action on the coronavirus.

You know, the impeachment that Romney joined in on in voting to convict the President?

“It came up while we were tied down in the impeachment trial,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said. “And I think it diverted the attention of the government because everything every day was all about impeachment.”

While Democrats were entirely focused on impeachment, President Trump would issue travel restrictions with China, establish a Coronavirus Task Force, and declare coronavirus a public health emergency, among many other actions.

President Trump repeatedly mocked Romney last month when it became evident that he would have to self-quarantine during the coronavirus crisis due to possible exposure through Senator Rand Paul.

“Romney is in isolation?” Trump asked a reporter. “Gee, that’s too bad.”

Now he’s being isolated from the task force to open the American economy back up again. Romney’s actions are now limiting his ability to serve his constituents and make America great again.

Rep Dan Crenshaw Lights Hillary Clinton Up Over Her Latest Attack on Trump

Rep. Dan Crenshaw fired off a brutal response after Hillary Clinton posted yet another attack on President Trump and his coronavirus response.

The former First Lady shared a Washington Post story and quote with her social media followers which falsely alleges the President took over two months to treat the pandemic seriously.

“Replace this man in November,” she added.

Crenshaw Fires Back

Crenshaw responded to the bitter two-time failed presidential candidate as he often does – using facts to thoroughly embarrass those trying to score cheap political points.

“Denial?” Crenshaw (R-TX) shot back. “From the man who restricted travel in January [and] saved lives, while your party celebrated his impeachment?”

Indeed, the administration’s CDC reported the first case of coronavirus in the United States on January 15th.

That same day, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was signing articles of impeachment over to the Senate and handing out commemorative pens to fellow Democrats in celebration.

RELATED: Ted Cruz: Too Many In The Media Are Actively ‘Rooting’ For Pandemic To Get Worse

Hammers the Washington Post

Not only did he eviscerate Hillary, but Crenshaw took down the Washington Post for running an article suggesting the President’s lack of response cost people their lives.

“You may be confusing him with the Washington Post, telling America to get a grip. That COVID-19 wasn’t scary, [and] that we should be wary of an aggressive [government] response,” he added.

Bolstering his argument, the Republican lawmaker provided screenshots of past columns from the Post.

“Get a grippe, America,” reads one headline published days after Trump had already implemented travel restrictions from China. “The flu is a much bigger threat than coronavirus, for now.”

“Why we should be wary of an aggressive government response to coronavirus,” another conveys days later.

Now, the liberal rag and a petulant Clinton want you to think it was the President who didn’t take things seriously.

Trump Saved Lives

Crenshaw has previously made a fool of Hillary for being unable to get Trump out of her head, taking shots at him during a time of crisis.

“He did promise ‘America First,'” Clinton wrote in a classless joke on the day media outlets were ignoring China’s false reporting and declaring America to be the number one nation in coronavirus cases.

“Delete your account,” replied Crenshaw. “This isn’t the time. This can’t be the new normal, where American tragedy is applauded for the sake of political opportunism.”

There’s what goes on in Hillary’s head, and then there’s reality.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has repeatedly credited President Trump with saving countless lives through swift action.

Dr. Ronny Jackson, former lead White House doctor appointed by Barack Obama, has made similar arguments.

The President’s actions, he surmised, would “save countless American lives.”

Seems the only people in denial right now are the Democrats.

Biden Suggests Trump Should Have Announced China Air Travel Ban Sooner — ’45 Nations Had Already Moved’

On ABC’s “This Week” Sunday, 2020 Democratic presidential frontrunner Joe Biden said President Donald Trump should have stopped air travel from China sooner in the effort to battle the coronavirus pandemic, adding that 45 nations had already blocked “China personnel from being able to come to the United States.”

‘We have to move more rapidly’

Commenting on President Trump’s approach to the crisis, former vice president Biden said, “I would tell him what we went through a similar crisis, you have to move swiftly. We have to move more rapidly.”

“You have to implement the Defense Production Act, empower a supply commander, create, you know, a Defense Production Act for banks for small business loans, you got to faster than slower, and we started off awfully slow,” he added.

“He indicated that I complimented him on dealing with China,” Biden continued. “Well, you know, 45 nations had already moved to keep — to block China personnel from being able to come to the United States before the president moved. It’s about pace. It’s about —it’s about the urgency, and I don’t think there’s been enough of it.”

Dems Originally Bashed Trump’s China Travel Ban

Keep in mind that while Biden now says Trump should have implemented the travel ban sooner, when he actually did so, many Democrats were calling it racist.

Biden referred to it as “hysteria” and “xenophobia”– and now he’s changing his tune?

Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci, claimed in an interview last month that President Trump’s travel ban was key to America not getting hit as hard by the coronavirus crisis as other nations.

Democrats Were Distracted By Impeachment During Coronavirus Spread Early Days

In late January, a time when coronavirus was spreading and we can ostensibly believe Biden thinks Trump should have enacted a China travel ban, Democrats were obsessed with just one thing – impeachment.

Joe Biden or any other Democrat accusing Trump of taking his eye off the ball in this moment is laughable at best.
