AOC Goes Wild On Instagram Live Video: Republicans Only Care About ‘White Supremacy,’ Trump Cabinet Has ‘Blood’ On Their Hands

In an Instagram live video, far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) made wild claims on the eve of a second impeachment vote against President Donald Trump.

The leader of the “Squad” of far-left Democrats touched on the recent riots at the Capitol, voter suppression, and “white supremacy.”

Trump Cabinet Members ‘Have Blood On Their Hands’

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez attacked several of President Trump’s Cabinet members as being complicit in the violence at the Capitol on January 6th.

She accused former Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, the wife of Senate majority Leader Mitch McConnell, of engaging in a conflict of interest for holding that position, without explaining why.

She also stated that former Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and Chao had resigned rather than “fulfilling their duties in acting the 25th Amendment and removing the president of the United States.”

Not only had both Chao and DeVos denounced the violence at the Capitol, it was the reason for their resignations.

She stated that Cabinet members “think that resigning will clean the blood off their hands,” referring to the five people that died in relation to Wednesday’s violence:

“Those five people’s blood is on your hands. What are you going to do? And they think that resigning is going to clean that blood off their hands. It is always on them. They are forever stained with the deaths of five people, especially when they did not invoke the 25th Amendment to remove this president when they had the power to do so.”

She blamed the Trump administration for children of those coming across the border illegally being ‘held in cages.’ This was a practice started in 2014 by the Obama administration.

She also accused Republicans of not caring about the Capitol Police officers who were killed during the riot, and using “blue lives matter” as merely a slogan.

In her rant, she claimed that Republicans don’t really care about the law or police, but rather “white supremacy.”

“I don’t want to hear or see the Republican Party talk about blue lives ever again. This was never about safety for them. It was always a slogan, because if they actually cared about rule of law they would speak up when people break the law. They would speak up. They would enforce fairness and equity but they don’t give a damn about the law. They don’t give a damn about order. They don’t give a damn about safety.

“They give a damn about white supremacy. They care about preserving the social order and the mythology of whiteness than the grandeur of our democracy.”

Ocasio-Cortez is a vocal advocate of the “defund the police” movement.

Voter Suppression?

Interestingly, AOC made several eye-brow raising comments calling into the question the integrity of the election.

Speaking of Republicans, she said:

“That’s what they care about. They lust for power more than care about democracy. That’s what those people did when they voted to overturn the results of our free and fair elections and you can barely call them that with the amount of voter suppression that they have engaged in across the country. It is generous to say the least, to call them that.”

Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez continued on that theme by declaring that Georgia and other southern states “are not red states, but suppressed states” that “must be liberated to heal.”

Her claims of unsubstantiated voter suppression come after historic turnout in the 2020 presidential election.

“We’ve got to organize. And I think what we saw in Georgia is a really good example of black women leading the way, with multiracial and multicultural organizations leading the way, um, they proved that southern states are not red  states. They are suppressed states. which means that the only way our country is going to heal is through the actual liberation of southern states, the actual liberation of the poor, the actual liberation of working people-from economic, from social, and racial oppression. That’s the only way, that’s the only way.”

Biden’s “Controversial” Cabinet Picks

AOC hasn’t limited her criticisms to Republicans, though. She has also leveled complaints against Joe Biden’s cabinet picks since Election Day.

Ocasio-Cortez and other members of “the Squad” are upset at the nomination of Bruce Reed, who is described as a moderate “deficit hawk.”

Reed was announced on Tuesday as the presidential deputy chief of staff by the Biden transition team.

In a petition shared among progressives, it states, “Putting someone in the administration who will prioritize paying down the deficit ahead of all other concerns in charge is a recipe for cutting our earned benefits and turning the COVID recession into a depression.”

Progressives are also becoming increasingly alarmed that Biden’s Cabinet are those who have spent substantial time at America’s biggest corporations, Washington D. C., and Wall Street.

Ocasio-Cortez called it a, “revolving door of corporate insiders.”

During the campaign, the Biden team made it appear as though the progressive wing of the party would have a substantial seat at the table.

If there are more nominations such as Bruce Reed, progressives may continue to be disappointed.

Ocasio-Cortez made her entire remarks available here:

Conservative Favorite Vernon Jones Explains Why He Ditched The Dems, Switched To GOP

Vernon Jones, a black former Democrat and supporter of President Trump, published an op-ed in which he explains why he switched to the Republican Party.

Jones officially announced his party switch in early January, stating that the Democrat Party had changed, not him.

“I am no longer a Democrat,” he said. “I cannot stand for the defunding of the police, higher taxes on working families, and job-killing socialist policies that will devastate Americans of all walks of life.”

Jones accused his former party of dragging Americans down through “a false narrative based on race-baiting, identity politics, and widespread propaganda fed to the masses.”

Jones Urges Dems To Try And Understand What Happened At The Capitol

As if to drive the identity politics point home, Democrats have been actively transforming the narrative surrounding the riots at the Capitol earlier this month as some sort of ‘white supremacy’ protest.

Former First Lady Hillary Clinton claimed the riots were the “result of white supremacist grievances” while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested the protesters chose their “their whiteness” over Democracy.

RELATED: Nancy Pelosi Accuses Capitol Rioters Of Choosing ‘Their Whiteness’ Over Democracy

It’s morphed from protests conducted by people concerned about Democracy to people who are simply racists.

Jones blasted Democrat leaders for not seriously attempting to understand what led to the protesters’ anger.

“The problem with many who are part of the establishment and talking heads on television is that instead of digging into why so many Americans are so frustrated, they’ve chosen to ridicule, condemn and misrepresent the facts,” he wrote.

“It’s only going to feed into the discontent and disdain so many Americans have for Washington.”

“Tens of millions of Americans have legitimate concerns surrounding the election,” Jones added. “Instead of responding to their concerns with facts and reassurance, Washington Democrats and the coastal elites reacted with disdain, misinformation and censorship.”

Jones Was Attacked And Harassed By BLM Rioters

If anybody knows a thing or two about how the Democrat Party’s rhetoric affects Americans, it’s Jones.

This past summer, he was harassed and had racial slurs hurled at him by Black Lives Matter protesters.

“Are you a black Trump supporter?” one man asks Jones after he left the Republican National Convention in late August.

“You’re a f***ing disgrace! Shame!” somebody yelled, as another shouted, “You house [n-word]!”

Now, as Democrats close in on the second impeachment of President Trump, it’s clear they have zero regard for their fellow citizens or the Constitution.

They have but one focus.

“It’s almost as if this isn’t about democracy or the Constitution for the so-called ‘elite,’ but all about power and destroying President Trump,” Jones wrote.

Trump Speaks Out On Democrats’ Impeachment ‘Witch Hunt,’ Condemns Violence

On Tuesday, President Trump spoke out about an impending second impeachment process being brought by House Democrats in the aftermath of last week’s violent protests in the nation’s Capitol.

The impeachment effort comes after House Democrats attempted and failed to push Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment in order to remove the president from office.

Trump Speaks Out About Impeachment, Violence

Not only did the president state that he had no intention of resigning, but that he believes that, “On the impeachment, it’s really a continuation of the greatest witch hunt in the history of politics. It’s ridiculous. It’s absolutely ridiculous.”

“This impeachment is causing tremendous danger.”

He stated that, “It’s a really terrible thing that they’re doing for Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer to continue on this path. I think it’s causing tremendous danger to our country, and it’s causing tremendous anger.”

The President added, “I want no violence — never violence. We want absolutely no violence.”

Trump Also Speaks Out About Capitol Violence

Critics of the president have claimed that in his speech to supporters in Washington last week, he incited the riots at the Capitol building by telling protesters to go to the Capitol, and using the words “march” and “fight.”

However, during his speech, the president said, “I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”

Since the violence last week, the president has condemned the violence several times.

Amidst the riots, Trump had addressed the protesters by saying, “But you have to go home now. We have to have peace.”

He also denounce the violence the next day in a video where he described it as, “a heinous attack.”

This video clip from The Daily Mail shows President Trump calling for peaceful protest:

Some Republicans Supporting Impeachment

Impeachment may prove interesting this time around on the Republican side of the aisle.

Fox news has claimed that “multiple sources” say that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is supportive of impeachment, believing that a second impeachment of Trump would help the GOP to “purge” itself of Trump supporters.

The Fox News report went on to say that McConnell’s desire to rid the Republican Party of Trump and Trump loyalists stems from the fact that McConnell is angry not only for the way that Trump responded to the riots, but also feels that Trump is responsible for the Georgia Senate race losses the day before.

The Usual Suspects

Among Republicans who are routinely critical of the president, and have expressed support for impeachment in the past, such as Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) and Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb), Congresswoman Liz Cheney (R-WY) has said that she would vote to impeach the president.

Cheney stated that, “The President of the United Stats summoned his mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack.”

She went on to say that, “The president could have immediately and forcefully intervened to stop the violence. He did not.”

However, there are a growing number of those in Congress who are calling for Cheney to step down as GOP Conference Chairwoman. Cheney’s position is third highest in House Republican leadership.

Among those calling for Cheney’s resignation are Rep. Any Biggs (R-AZ) who said, “The reality is she is not representing the Conference-she is not representing the Republican ideals.” and Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT) who said, “She is weakening our Conference at a key moment for personal and political gain and is unfit to lead. She must step down as Conference Chair.”

Representative Jim Jordan, who recently received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Trump, joined the calls against Cheney.

Hillary Clinton: Conservatives Can ‘Begin The Healing’ By Admitting Biden Will Become ‘Duly Elected President’

On Tuesday, failed 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said that the GOP and conservatives can “begin the healing and unifying process” by admitting that Joe Biden “was duly elected president in a free and fair election.”

Clinton wrote on Twitter, “Here’s how elected Republicans and conservative media can begin the healing and unifying process: Accurately state that Joe Biden was duly elected president in a free and fair election.”

“Urge Trump supporters to refrain from further violence. For a start,” she added.

Clinton’s Tweet Comes As Democrats Push For Impeachment

Clinton’s comments come as Democrats continue to push another attempt to impeachment President Trump.

Accusing the President of inciting the Capitol Hill riots last week, Democrat leaders plan to meet on Wednesday to consider articles of impeachment.

The single article of impeachment read, “President Trump gravely endangered the security of the United States and its institutions of Government. He threatened the integrity of the democratic system, interfered with the peaceful transfer of power, and imperiled a coequal branch of Government.”

It added, “He thereby betrayed his trust as President, to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.”

The impeachment article was introduced by Democratic House members Reps. David Cicilline of Rhode Island, Ted Lieu of California, and Jamie Raskin of Maryland.

Hillary Clinton Still Hasn’t Admitted Trump Won In 2016

The former Secretary of State wants conservatives to admit Joe Biden won the 2020 election, but as recently as 2019, Clinton essentially claimed that the 2016 election was rigged.

On CBS This Morning in September of 2019, Clinton claimed that Trump is an “illegitimate president” and that the election was neither fair nor free.

“I believe he understands that the many varying tactics they used, from voter suppression and voter purging to hacking to the false stories – he knows that – there were just a bunch of different reasons why the election turned out like it did.”

Clinton Published Op-Ed About ‘White Supremacy’

Clinton published an op-ed in the Washington Post on Monday, arguing that pursuing impeachment alone will not “remove white supremacy from America.”

“Trump ran for president on a vision of America where whiteness is valued at the expense of everything else. In the White House, he gave white supremacists, members of the extreme right and conspiracy theorists their most powerful platforms yet, even claiming that there were “very fine people” among the torch-wielding militia members who converged on Charlottesville in 2017,” Clinton wrote.

On January 8, Clinton celebrated President Trump’s personal Twitter account being permanently banned.

Adam Schiff Claims Trump Impeachment ‘Gathering Momentum’ With Republicans

On Tuesday, House Intelligence Committee Chairman and Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff said that he believes support for impeaching President Trump is “gathering momentum” in the GOP.

His comments come after reports that Republicans in leadership, like Mitch McConnell and Liz Cheney, are supportive of the effort.

Schiff made his comments during an interview on CNN’s “Situation Room” with host Wolf Blitzer.

Schiff: ‘These Things Have A Way Of Gathering Momentum’

Blitzer said to Schiff, “The third-ranking Republican in the House, Congresswoman Liz Cheney, she nows says she will actually vote to impeach President Trump tomorrow when this resolution comes up for a vote.”

Blitzer added, “The last time you impeached President Trump, you did so with no Republican support in the House, no Republican support at all. So what does this development mean?”

Schiff replied, “It means she won’t be alone. There will be other Republicans influenced by her decision, and these things have a way of gathering momentum.”

Trump Called Schiff ‘Watermelon Head’ In October

“So I wouldn’t be surprised now to see a considerable number of Republicans join in supporting the impeachment resolution,” he added.

The Democrat then noted how significant support for impeachment from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell could be in this effort.

“These reports that Mitch McConnell may be open to the impeachment charges as well is quite a potential earthquake in the Senate,” Schiff said.

Schiff is no stranger to battles with President Trump. He was one of the key advocates of RussiaGate during Trump’s entire first term in office.

In October, Trump called Schiff “watermelon head” at a presidential campaign rally in Gastonia, North Carolina.

Trump also said Schiff should be “locked up.”

Schiff Led First Impeachment Trial Against Trump

Schiff led the first impeachment trial against President Trump over alleged collusion with Russia in the 2016 presidential election.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation found insufficient evidence to back up those allegations.

Progressive journalist Glenn Greenwald wrote at The Intercept in April 2019, “The two-pronged conspiracy theory that has dominated U.S. political discourse for almost three years – that (1) Trump, his family and his campaign conspired or coordinated with Russia to interfere in the 2016 election, and (2) Trump is beholden to Russian President Vladimir Putin — was not merely rejected today by the final report of Special Counsel Robert Mueller. It was obliterated: in an undeniable and definitive manner.”

Report: Mitch McConnell Signals Support For Impeachment, Says It Will Help Rid GOP Of Trump

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has reportedly signaled support for impeachment, thinking the Democrats’ move could help the GOP get rid of President Trump and his movement.

The New York Times initially claimed that McConnell was “pleased” that House Democrats had introduced articles of impeachment against Trump.

Fox News adds that multiple sources have claimed McConnell is “done” and “furious” with the President.

The Kentucky Republican, according to Fox, “told associates that impeachment will help rid the Republican Party of Trump and his movement.”

McConnell’s anger, according to the article, stems not only from the way President Trump handled the Capitol riots last week, but the fact that Republicans lost their majority in the Senate after the Georgia runoffs.

RELATED: Hillary Clinton Calls Capitol Riots ‘Result Of White-Supremacist Grievances,’ Wants Trump Impeached

Mitch McConnell Supports Impeachment?

The House of Representatives voted on Tuesday to pass a resolution urging Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove the president from office.

Pence declined, setting up an impeachment vote for Wednesday morning.

McConnell’s support of such a move, if true, is reprehensible – an impeachment vote without concern for facts or witnesses, without a defense for the President, based solely on the media’s spin on what happened at the Capitol.

You would think the Senate Majority Leader would have learned how the media and the Democrats operate over the years.

They’re stirring up anger in the country right now by claiming the President incited rioters.

Did he? When? Where? At the rally, the President told attendees to be peaceful.

“We have come to demand that Congress do the right thing and only count the electors who have been lawfully slated, lawfully slated. I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”

After some in the crowd began breaking the law, the President told them to “go home” and “go in peace.”

“You have to go home now, we have to be peaceful,” Trump said in a video censored by Twitter. “We have to have law and order, we have to respect our great people in law and order. We don’t want anybody hurt, it’s a very tough period of time.”

Yet the narrative has remained due to Trump’s continued insistence in the same video that the election was stolen from him, which critics have said contributed to the violence.

How Will McConnell Vote?

Despite the Fox News report of McConnell seemingly supporting impeachment, they are quick to note that “it is unclear how McConnell would vote in an impeachment trial … It is not clear at this point whether McConnell would vote to convict.”

The Daily Mail cites GOP sources as saying there is a “better than 50/50” chance Mitch McConnell votes to convict Trump in impeachment trial because he “wants him purged from the GOP.”

But it wouldn’t purge Trump and his supporters, it would simply fracture the GOP beyond repair.

Remember, it was just weeks ago that a Rasmussen survey indicated 72 percent of Republican voters want their legislators to be more like President Trump.

Not like McConnell, a wishy-washy character who bends at the whim of the media.

Last week, Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) indicated he would “definitely consider” a vote to impeach President Trump or support having him removed from office through the 25th Amendment.

“If they come together and have a process, I will definitely consider whatever articles they might move, because … I believe the president has disregarded his oath of office,” said Sasse.

Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) would almost assuredly vote to convict in an impeachment trial. He was, after all, the lone Senate Republican to vote to convict Trump in the first contrived impeachment trial.

If McConnell gets on board, it’s easy to visualize a whole host of other Republicans stabbing Trump in the back and getting to the necessary 67 votes to convict.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) admitted in a recent ’60 Minutes’ interview that Trump running for president again is one of the motivations “that people have for advocating for impeachment.”

She added that it would be preferable to use the 25th Amendment “because it gets rid of him.”

Imagine how broken Mitch McConnell must be in order to agree with Nancy Pelosi on impeachment.

Meghan McCain Demands Ivanka And Jared ‘Be Held Accountable’ After Capitol Riots

On Tuesday’s episode of the ABC talk show “The View,” Meghan McCain said that White House senior advisor Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner “need to be held accountable” in the wake of the Capitol riots last week.

McCain Discusses Capitol Riots

“They’re talking about police departments all over the country, about possible domestic attacks on all Capitols from domestic terrorists,” McCain said. “We’re living in a time that it feels like we’re in a banana republic.”

“I don’t understand why people on Capitol Hill aren’t demanding that this end, because as long as we take no culpability for what happened, and I say we as the collective Republican Party, there’s no future for the party,” she added. “There is none if the president is going to keep saying things like that, and we’re not going to hold him accountable. This is dead. We can call it over.”

McCain’s cohost Whoopi Goldberg then chimed in to say, “All of those folks sitting there, knowing that this is a lie, for me, this is treason. You know that this is a lie. This has been predicated on a lie the entire time. And y’all just sit there and let it happen. You are the problem.”

McCain On Ivanka And Jared

That’s when McCain zeroed in on Ivanka and her husband.

“His family needs to be held accountable for this too,” McCain said. “Don’t let Ivanka and Jared off just because they are not saying anything right now. Apparently, they’re in hiding. Do not let these people off the hook.”

“All of these people need to be held accountable,” she concluded. “The reason why I never sounded the five-fire alarm before this point in time is because I always thought maybe there was a moment when it would be an absolute, utter, cataclysmic constitutional emergency, which is where we truly are at right now. Don’t let anybody off the hook. I beg everyone.”

Meghan McCain Blasts Capitol Rioters As ‘Domestic Terrorists’ Who Should Be Sent To Guantanamo

On Monday’s episode of the ABC talk show “The View,” conservative cohost Meghan McCain blasted the Capitol rioters as “domestic terrorists” who should be sent to the Guantanamo Bay detention camp.

Meghan McCain Attacks Capitol Rioters

“I just think we need to treat the domestic terrorists the way we do actual terrorists,” she said. “I think we need to consider all the possibilities. I’m not against sending these people to Gitmo, That may sound extreme. These are domestic terrorists who attacked our own republic. They should be treated the same way we treat Al-Qaeda.”

McCain also called on Republicans to impeach President Donald Trump before he leaves office.

“People are really worried about violence on Inauguration Day. I think they have to send a direct message, Republicans and Democrats, that this cannot stand and there have to be ramifications for what happened,” McCain said. “This is one of the worst domestic terror attacks in our history.”

Related: Meghan McCain Breaks Down As She Begs Republicans To Remove Trump From Office Using 25th Amendment

“I have said this on this show numerous times: Facts are stubborn things. Normally I say it in relationship to Democrats — now I’m saying it to Republicans,” she added.

“If President Obama had incited this kind of riot, where he had lied to his voters, lied about the election and then sent a mob of people up on Capitol Hill where the vice president could have been killed or worse, there would be absolute bedlam worse than we’re seeing now,” McCain said.

Whoopi Goldberg chimed in with a simple “oh my God” in agreement with McCain’s sentiment.

McCain Doubles Down

“So the problem I’m having now, and I’m just speaking to my own party — there has to be intellectual consistency in this,” McCain continued. “Because we always go on TV and say we are the party of law and order, we are the party of the ideals, we are the party of ramifications for people that screw with America, we’re gonna put a boot in your you-know-what if you screw with the American way. I have said that.”

“So why is it different when it’s MAGA supporters?” she continued. “That’s where I’m really confused right now. If we let this stand and we don’t have 100% for impeachment, the 25th amendment, anything and everything to get him out now — the existential threat of violence is still here.”

GOP Sen. Ben Sasse Will Consider Impeachment, Ilhan Omar Predicts President Trump WILL Be Removed

Republican Senator Ben Sasse indicated he will “definitely consider” a vote to impeach President Trump or support having him removed from office through the 25th Amendment.

Sasse (R-NE) made his comments during an appearance on “The Hugh Hewitt Show.”

He said President Trump has “a deep brokenness in his soul” and accused him of telling the crowd at a rally earlier in the day to “go wild.”

When Hewitt asked if he should be “impeached and removed,” Sasse replied that he had much to consider but that the President was “derelict in his duty.”

In an interview with CBS This Morning, the Republican lawmaker acknowledged he would “definitely consider” articles of impeachment.

“If they come together and have a process, I will definitely consider whatever articles they might move, because … I believe the president has disregarded his oath of office,” said Sasse.

Ben Sasse Considers Impeaching Trump, Ilhan Omar Predicts It’s Going To Happen

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) was the first Democrat lawmaker to announce a push to impeach President Trump on Wednesday.

“We can’t allow him to remain in office, it’s a matter of preserving our Republic and we need to fulfill our oath,” she tweeted.

In a newly published tweet, Omar seems even more confident about the possibility that she will succeed.

“He will be impeached,” she predicted. “Justice will be served.”

“Thank you to the millions who responded to this attack on our democracy,” Omar continued. “Thank you to the hundreds of members who heard their calls.”

Democrats Are Looking To Fast-Track A Vote On Impeachment

CNN reports Democrat lawmakers will consider fast-tracking an impeachment vote if Vice President Mike Pence declines to utilize the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office.

“Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her leadership team are considering a lightning-quick impeachment process if Vice President Mike Pence and the Cabinet refuse to take unprecedented steps to remove President Donald Trump from office in less than two weeks’ time,” they write.

They said the swift move to try and remove Trump from office has been confirmed by multiple Democrat sources.

CNN also advises that President Trump’s impeachment would need “significant bipartisan support to succeed in the Senate.”

Sasse is signaling he might have the desire to impeach Trump. Certainly, Romney (R-UT) would.

Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO), the highest-ranking Senate Republican to weigh in on the impeachment discussion, quickly dismissed the idea.

“The Speaker knows this is not going to happen. Sen. Schumer knows this isn’t going to happen,” he said.

“You don’t have the time for it to happen, even if there was a reason. So there’s no reason to debate this except just pure politics.”

Sasse and Omar are pretending they’re adhering to principles when in reality, they are engaged purely in politics that will continue to divide the country. It’s a disgrace.

Pelosi Urges Military To Block ‘Unhinged’ President Trump From Nuclear Codes

As attempts to portray Donald Trump as mentally unhealthy and unstable increase, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi on Friday called on Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley to prevent the President Trump from having access to the nuclear codes.

Pelosi called the president “unhinged” and “dangerous.”

Since the rally-turned-riot on Wednesday in Washington D.C., Democrats have blamed President Trump for inciting the violence.

Attempting To Remove Trump From Office

In a statement, Pelosi explained her extraordinary move.

“This morning, I spoke to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley to discuss available precautions for preventing an unstable president from initiating military hostilities or accessing the launch codes and ordering a nuclear strike,” Pelosi (D-Calif.) wrote.

“The situation of this unhinged President could not be more dangerous, and we must do everything that we can to protect the American people from his unbalanced assault on our country and our democracy,” she wrote.

Pelosi’s concern for President Trump “initiating military hostilities” come less than two weeks after Congress voted to block President Trump from withdrawing troops from the 20-year War in Afghanistan.

With just twelve days left in Donald Trump’s presidency, Democrats have called on Vice President Mike Pence and the rest of the Cabinet to remove Trump from office via the 25th Amendment.

Failing that, they have threatened a second impeachment.

RELATED: Nancy Pelosi: After ‘Armed Insurrection’ House Could Impeach Trump Again

Since Wednesday, the CEO’s of several of the most prominent social media sites, including Facebook and Twitter, have suspended President Trump’s accounts.

Facebook has suspended Trump’s account until Joe Biden is sworn in as president. Twitter is also considering a permanent ban.

Those Who Are Piling On

While she has not overtly called for President Trump’s removal or resignation, former First Lady Michelle Obama also called for Trump to be banned from social media.

Obama called Trump supporters who were at the rally “a gang,” and said that, “the riots were a fulfillment of the wishes of an infantile and unpatriotic president who can’t handle the truth of his own failures.”

On Thursday, the Editorial Board of the Wall Street Journal also called for President Trump to resign.

In their statement, they claimed that Trump “incited a crowd to march on the Legislative Branch,” and say, “it crosses a constitutional line that Mr. Trump hasn’t previously crossed. It is impeachable.”

Several Cabinet members have resigned in the wake of Wednesday’s events at the Capitol.

Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao and more recently Education Secretary Betsy DeVos have resigned.

Which One Is More Likely To Happen?

Democrats have said that if Mike Pence does not act, they will immediately begin the impeachment process.

In order to invoke the 25th Amendment Vice President Mike Pence would have to have a majority of the Cabinet in agreement with him. The President can dispute this with a letter to Congress.

Congress would vote, and it would take a two-thirds supermajority, 67 Senators and 290 House members, to remove him from power.

Congress can also appoint its own body to review the President’s fitness.
