Poll: 64 Percent Of Republican Voters Would Join Trump If He Started A New Party

In a blow to the establishment GOP, a new Hill-HarrisX poll shows an overwhelming percentage of Republican voters would join a new political party established by former President Donald Trump.

The survey asked how likely voters would be to join a Trump-led party.

64 percent of Republican voters said they would be likely to cross over, with half of those saying they would be “very likely” to join.

The survey also found that a surprising chunk of independent voters (28 percent) and Democrats (15 percent) said they would sign up for a third party formed by Trump.

Will Trump Form a New Party?

The Wall Street Journal reported in January that Donald Trump is interested in creating a new third party once he leaves office – with rumors indicating it would be dubbed the ‘Patriot Party.’

The Journal points out that Trump “has a large base of supporters” but adds the effort “would require a significant investment of time and resources.”

Dritan Nesho, CEO and chief pollster at HarrisX, notes the latest poll shows “Trump remains a political force to be reckoned with.”

How much sway does he have?

“If Trump were to split from the GOP and create his own party, polling suggests he might well create the second largest political party in the country, knocking the GOP down to third place,” Nesho added.

Voters Are Siding With Trump

Reports last month indicated Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) had signaled support for impeachment, thinking the trial could help the GOP get rid of Trump and his movement.

The Daily Mail at the time said GOP sources indicated there is a “better than 50/50” chance McConnell votes to convict Trump in next week’s impeachment trial because he “wants him purged from the GOP.”

McConnell would later vote that the House impeachment was unconstitutional but has still not said whether or not he would vote to convict.

Rather than seeing him purged, however, Republican voters aren’t wavering on their support of Trump, and this new third-party poll is just another sign that he still holds political leverage whether within the GOP or not.

A poll from Axios-Ipsos shows voters are taking sides – and it isn’t with the establishment.

The results show a vast majority of Republicans do not hold Trump responsible for the Capitol riots, believe he had a right to challenge the election, and a whopping 92 percent still see him as their preferred nominee in 2024.

Another tell over the fissure being created in the Republican party – a report earlier this week that 7 out of the 10 Republican lawmakers who voted in favor of impeaching Trump are already facing primary challenges for their congressional seats.

Pelosi Claims ‘The Enemy Is Within The House’ As She Calls Out Armed Colleagues As Security Threats

During her weekly press conference on Thursday, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) revealed that the chamber is probably going to allocate more money to members of Congress to provide additional security for themselves.

Pelosi Claims ‘Enemy Is Within The House’

Pelosi said that the chamber is not only doing this due to the Capitol riots earlier this month, but also because of what she described as the “enemy” within the House.

“We will probably need a supplemental [budget] for more security for members when the enemy is within the House of Representatives — a threat that members are concerned about in addition to what is happening outside,” Pelosi said.

When asked for clarification on what she meant by this, Pelosi proceeded to call out some of her fellow members of Congress.

“It means we have members of Congress who want to bring guns on the floor and have threatened violence on other members of Congress,” she said.

This came hours after 32 members of Congress sent a letter to House leadership claiming that members were facing a “significant uptick in threats of violence and even death.”

The letter, which was led by Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) and Dean Phillips (D-MN), asked the House to allocate supplemental funds for security “given the increased threat level,” as well as other increased security measures.

Pelosi Doubles Down

Pelosi said in her presser that she has already asked retired Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré to lead a review of the U.S. Capitol’s security. She has also issued a new guidance allowing lawmakers to use their office budget funds to purchase things like bulletproof vests and security guards at local events.

“General Honoré is looking to see what really will work in terms of their service here, their service home, their transportation in between,” she said.

Unsurprisingly, Pelosi also didn’t miss an opportunity to once again accuse former President Donald Trump of inciting the Capitol riots.

“This is very, very important,” Pelosi said of the security concerns. “It shouldn’t be.”

“It shouldn’t be that not only is the president of the United States inciting an insurrection but keeps fanning the flames endangering the security of members of Congress to the point that they’re even concerned about members in the House of Representatives being a danger to them,” she concluded.

Biden White House Responds To Twitter Banning Trump – They Feel ‘Blessed’

President Joe Biden’s White House reportedly feels “blessed” over the fact that Twitter banned Donald Trump earlier this month.

Biden’s White House Feels ‘Blessed’ Trump Has Been Banned From Twitter

“The President spent two years ignoring Trump’s distractions and staying focused on the message he wanted to deliver, and it paid off with a commanding win,” an unnamed White House official told Politico, which described Twitter banning Trump as a “priceless gift.”

The official went on to say that the Biden administration will stick to its communications strategy regardless of what Trump does in the future.

“Whether or not Trump slinks back into public view or opens up a Parler account isn’t going to make a difference in how we communicate with the American people,” the official said.

Another source who Politico described as an “outside adviser” said that Biden’s White House feels “blessed” by Trump not being on Twitter.

“Not having to deal with a deranged new tweet every hour? They feel blessed,” the adviser claimed.

Trump Banned From Twitter Earlier This Month

Twitter banned Trump earlier this month after accusing him of inciting the riots at the Capitol. Since then, Trump has remained almost completely silent after leaving the White House and heading to Florida.

“It has become abundantly clear since his absence on Twitter how much Trump was driving a media narrative,” said Paul Bentz, an Arizona-based Republican strategist and pollster.

Philip N. Howard, director of the Oxford Internet Institute, celebrated Trump being removed from Twitter as well.

“Trump had an amazing ability to distract from issues. He was able to plant seeds of doubt about entire institutions and regular democratic processes,” he said. “Having him off Twitter allows the conversation about climate change to stay on topic — and about evidence. The conversation about race and social inequality can stay focused on policy ideas.”

“He was a kind of sinkhole in the media ecosystem,” Howard added, “which often trapped professional journalists into covering inane stories or simply burned them out as individuals.”

Though Twitter banned Trump, however, support for him is not dwindling. A new Morning Consult poll found that an increasing number of Republicans, 50 percent, want Trump to play a “major role” in putting together the future of the GOP.

Pelosi Calls On Democrat Lawmakers To ‘Write Their Stories’ Of Capitol Riots

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) sent a letter to her fellow Democrat lawmakers on Wednesday urging them to “write your story of January 6,” referring to the Capitol riots.

Pelosi Pens Letter To Democrats Regarding Capitol Riots

“Today also marks three weeks since the insurrection against the U.S. Capitol and against our Democracy,” Pelosi wrote, according to The Hill. “I urge all Members to take advantage of this time to write your story of January 6.”

“I also hope you have taken advantage of the trauma and resilience resources provided by the Office of Employee Assistance, and I encourage you to do so if you have not. Members have told me that they have found these resources to be beneficial,” she added.

Pelosi led the charge in the House impeaching Donald Trump for a second time for allegedly inciting the Capitol riots. A Senate impeachment trial has been scheduled to take place on February 8, and if he is impeached there, he will not be allowed to run for office again.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has described the Capitol riots as a “pretty traumatizing event,” going so far as to say that she thought she was “going to die” at one point. She has also indicated that she will be receiving counseling to deal with the trauma she supposedly suffered from during this event.

Pelosi Claims They’re Doing Work ‘For The People’

Pelosi concluded her letter with some encouraging words for her Democratic colleagues, claiming that the work that they are doing is “for the people.”

“As we continue our work For The People, we must do so prayerfully, solemnly and courageously,” wrote Pelosi.

“Let us draw faith and inspiration from the closing words of the poem that Amanda Gorman shared with the nation one week ago: ‘For there is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it, if only we’re brave enough to be it,'” she concluded.

Pelosi has previously said that she is “not worried” that impeaching Trump will undercut the message of unity that President Joe Biden claims to want to push.

“No, I’m not worried about that,” Pelosi said. “The fact is the president of the United States committed an act of incitement of insurrection. I don’t think it’s very unifying to say, ‘Oh, let’s just forget it and move on.’”

Capitol Rioter From Texas Arrested For Threatening To ‘Assassinate’ AOC

A Texas man who took part in the Capitol riots earlier this month has been hit with new charges related to him allegedly threatening to “assassinate” the radically liberal Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

Capitol Rioter Charged With Threatening To ‘Assassinate AOC’

Court documents obtained by CNN show that Garret Miller is currently facing five criminal charges related to the Capitol riots, including trespassing offenses and making death threats. Specifically, the court papers show that Miller tweeted, “assassinate AOC.”

On top of that, Miller reportedly said that the police officer who fatally shot a Trump supporter during the attack “deserves to die” and won’t “survive long” because it’s “huntin[g] season.” Prosecutors stated that Miller was very active on social media before and during the Capitol riots, saying a “civil war could start” and “next time we bring the guns.”

Miller’s Lawyer Responds

Miller was arrested last Wednesday, and prosecutors have requested that a judge keep him in prison until his trial. Clint Broden, a lawyer for Miller, has since spoken out to say that his client “certainly regrets what he did.”

“He did it in support of former President (Donald) Trump, but regrets his actions,” Broden said. “He has the support of his family, and a lot of the comments, as viewed in context, are really sort of misguided political hyperbole. Given the political divide these days, there is a lot of hyperbole.”

“Mr. Miller takes responsibility for his actions taken on January 6 on behalf of his support for former President Trump and wants to move forward and put this behind him. He has the support of his family and his comments reflect misguided political hyperbole that will not be repeated,” he added in a separate statement to Dallas Morning News.

AOC Claims She Thought She ‘Was Going To Die’

Ocasio-Cortez has previously claimed that she thought she “was going to die” in the Capitol riots last week after a “close encounter” shook her to her core.

“I did not know if I was going to make it to the end of that day alive,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a lengthy video posted to Instagram. “Not just in a general sense, but in a very, very specific sense.”

“I can tell you that I had a very close encounter where I thought I was going to die,” she added. “And you have all of those thoughts where, at the end of your life…all of these thoughts come rushing to you. And that’s what happened to a lot of us on Wednesday and I did not think – I did not know if I was going to make it to the end of that day alive.”

Megyn Kelly Blames CNN And Media For Capitol Riots

In the weeks since the Capitol riots earlier this month, liberals have been placing all of the blame for what happened squarely on President Donald Trump. Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly, however, is speaking out to place some of the blame on CNN and on the media.

Kelly Goes After The Media

Kelly argued that networks are to blame for “a complete lack of trust” in this country, according to Daily Mail.

“Part of the reason we saw what happened at the Capitol here two weeks ago is because there had been a complete lack of trust in the media, and people don’t know where to turn for true information, they don’t trust the media anymore. And it’s a major problem,” Kelly explained.

“They hated him so much, they checked their objectivity, and it wasn’t just CNN, all of them did. They just couldn’t check their own personal feelings about him,” she added. “The media destroyed itself, but Trump certainly helped. He sort of set a trap that walked right into and it worked really well.”

Kelly Doubles Down

Not stopping there, Kelly went on to say that lots of reporters followed the “Jorge Ramos theory of covering Trump,” by describing Trump’s remarks as racist and misogynist.

“I remember listening to all of [Trump’s] disparaging comments about CNN when he first became a national figure as a presidential candidate, and I watched a lot of CNN even though I was on Fox,” Kelly continued. “And I was like this is unfair. CNN may be a little boring, but it’s fair and it’s factual. It’s not biased against Trump. Then they spent the next four years proving him right – proving me wrong.”

“We could have a little less crazy rhetoric from the White House, but it’s not going to change how divided we are here in America because Trump was the symptom of those divisions, not the cause of them,” she added.

Kelly Gets Backlash And Support

Kelly has quickly been met with backlash on social media for her comments.

“I’m sorry but I’ve never heard anything so ridiculous as Megyn Kelly saying on BBC Newsnight that Trump mobs attacked the Capitol because they didn’t trust the media — not Trump lying that the election was stolen,” tweeted British journalist Hugo Lowell.

Others, however, have expressed support for Kelly and voiced their agreement.

“This from @megynkelly is so spot on. The media poisoned the faith in them to present unvarnished news thanks to their blatantly biased coverage of Trump. Now, with Biden, the opposite will be true. There will be no objective scrutiny and reporting,” one user tweeted.

Pelosi’s Past Comes Back To Haunt Her – She Once Praised Unionists Storming State Capitol Of Wisconsin

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) own words have come back to bite her as it’s been revealed that she once praised the unionist who stormed the Wisconsin state capitol.

This comes as she’s leading the charge to impeach former President Donald Trump for supposedly inciting the Capitol riots earlier this month.

Pelosi’s 2011 Comments Reemerge

In 2011, unionists stormed the Wisconsin State Capitol as they tried to block a vote on collective bargaining reform, according to Fox News. Despite the fact that Pelosi has been vocal about condemning the Capitol riots in which a rightwing mob stormed the Capitol to protest the election results, she was singing a very different tune a decade ago when Democrats were the ones doing the storming.

“I stand with the students & workers of #WI, impressive show of democracy in action #solidarityWI,” Pelosi tweeted.

Fox News contributor Mark Thiessen called Pelosi out for this in a column for the Washington Post, writing that “in other words, Democrats were for occupying capitols before they were against it.”

Pelosi Led The Charge In Impeaching Trump

This comes after Pelosi led the charge in the House impeaching Trump for the second time earlier this month for his supposed “insurrection” when it came to the Capitol riots. When asked if impeaching Trump would “undercut” President Joe Biden’s calls for unity, Pelosi had a blunt response.

“No, I’m not worried about that,” Pelosi said. “The fact is the president of the United States committed an act of incitement of insurrection. I don’t think it’s very unifying to say, ‘Oh, let’s just forget it and move on.’”

“That’s not how you unify. Joe Biden said it beautifully. If we’re going to unite, you must remember that we must, we must bring this— look, that’s our responsibility to uphold the integrity of the Congress of the United States,” she added. “That’s our responsibility, to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. And that is what we will do.”

“Just because he’s now gone — thank God — you don’t say to a president, ‘Do whatever you want in the last months of your administration. You’re gonna get a get-out-of-jail card free,’ because people think we should make nice-nice and forget that people died here on January 6, that the attempt to undermine our election, to undermine our democracy, to dishonor our Constitution— no, I don’t see that at all. I think that would be harmful to unity,” Pelosi said.

The hypocrisy of the left never ceases to amaze.

Pelosi ‘Not Worried’ About Alienating Trump Supporters With Impeachment – Dropping Trial Is ‘Not How You Unify’

During her weekly press conference on Thursday, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) spoke out to say that she is “not worried” about alienating those who supported Donald Trump by moving forward with his impeachment trial, saying that dropping it would not be “how you unify.”

Pelosi Discusses Impeachment

Pelosi said this after she was asked by a reporter if a Trump impeachment trial would “undercut” President Joe Biden’s call for unity that he made at his inauguration speech the day before.

“No, I’m not worried about that,” Pelosi said. “The fact is the president of the United States committed an act of incitement of insurrection. I don’t think it’s very unifying to say, ‘Oh, let’s just forget it and move on.’”

The House impeached Trump for a second time last week for “incitement of insurrection” in last week’s Capitol riot. Pelosi is set to send the article of impeachment to the Senate for a trial, and she claims that dropping it would be the opposite of unifying.

“That’s not how you unify. Joe Biden said it beautifully. If we’re going to unite, you must remember that we must, we must bring this— look, that’s our responsibility to uphold the integrity of the Congress of the United States,” Pelosi said. “That’s our responsibility, to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. And that is what we will do.”

I think that would be harmful to unity,” she added.

McCarthy Fires Back

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has said that while Trump “bears responsibility” for the Capitol riots, he does not support impeachment because he feels that it goes against a message of unity.

“I think impeachment was totally wrong. It was purely politically driven. … Now President Trump is a private citizen. Why would you spend your time on this?” McCarthy told Fox News on Thursday. “This is where I think President Joe Biden could have shown the nation he really was uniting. Let’s not do impeachment. Let’s dismiss this. Let’s unite this nation.”

Trump Gets Bad News As Screen Actors Guild Finds ‘Probable Cause’ To Expel Him

The Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), which is the actor’s union, has announced that it has found “probable cause” that Donald Trump has “violated the union’s Constitution.” The former president has been a member of the union for over thirty years.

Trump Gets Bad News From SAG-Aftra

This matter is set to be heard by the union’s Disciplinary Committee, and if found guilty, Trump will be reprimanded in some way. He could be censured, fined, suspended, or even expelled from the actor’s union, according to Deadline.

The report cites Article XIV of the union’s Constitution, which states that members could be expelled for “engaging in actions antagonistic to the interests or integrity of the union.”

The complaint against Trump is in relation to the Capitol riots earlier this month, claiming that the ex-president supported “a reckless campaign of misinformation aimed at discrediting and ultimately threatening the safety of journalists, many of whom are SAG-AFTRA members.”

Union President Speaks Out

“Donald Trump attacked the values that this union holds most sacred — democracy, truth, respect for our fellow Americans of all races and faiths, and the sanctity of the free press,” said SAG-AFTRA president Gabrielle Carteris. “There’s a straight line from his wanton disregard for the truth to the attacks on journalists perpetrated by his followers.”

The union’s national executive director David White spoke out about this situation as well.

“Our most important role as a union is the protection of our members,” he said. “The unfortunate truth is, this individual’s words and actions over the past four years have presented actual harm to our broadcast journalist members.”

“The board’s resolution addresses this effort to undermine freedom of the press and reaffirms the principles on which our democratic society rests, and which we must all work to protect and preserve,” White continued.

The union sent a letter to Trump this week to let him know about the charges that have been made against him. A vote of two-thirds of the SAG-AFTRA board is needed to expel Trump.

Given how radically liberal and hateful towards Trump Hollywood has become, it would be no surprise if the union does indeed end up expelling him.

Freshman GOP Rep Admits Voting To Impeach Trump May Have Destroyed His Career

Freshman Rep. Peter Meijer (R-MI) spoke out on Sunday to admit that voting in favor of impeaching President Donald Trump last week may have destroyed his political career.

Meijer Votes To Impeach Trump

The House voted to impeach Trump for a second time last week over the Capitol riots earlier this month, with the article of impeachment charging Trump with “incitement of insurrection.” The impeachment was approved by a vote of 232-197, with every Democrat and ten Republicans in the House voting in favor of it.

Meijer was one of the ten Republicans to vote in favor of impeaching Trump in a move that he himself admitted one day later that “may have been an act of political suicide.”

While appearing on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday, Meijer was asked by host George Stephanopolous, “Are you concerned you ended your career with that vote?”

“Oh, I may very well have,” Meijer responded. “But I think it’s also important that we have elected leaders who are not thinking solely about what’s in their individual self-interest, not what is going to be politically expedient, but what we actually need for country.”

Meijer Explains His Reason For Voting To Impeach Trump

Earlier in the interview, the freshman Republican congressman explained his reasoning behind voting to impeach Trump.

“Impeaching a president, especially a president of my own party, was nothing that we ever hoped to do. Many of us deliberated deeply,” Meijer said.

“This was not as easy as just saying what is in our best political interest, but, frankly, looking at the evidence, looking at the facts of the case, reading the article and asking, ‘Is this true by our own experience, by our lived experience?’ And it was,” he continued.

“You know, I think this is a time for reflection, but it’s also a time for accountability. And that’s something that I am deeply committed to,” he added.

“You know, I’m calling on my party to restore trust, to restore the trust of the voting public and to ensure that we never allow the actions that led up to Jan. 6 and what happened on Jan. 6, we never allow that outburst of political violence to occur in our name again,” Meijer said.

A Senate impeachment trial against Trump is expected to take place after Joe Biden is inaugurated later this week.
