Meghan McCain Calls Bashing Liz Cheney, Pro-Impeachment Republicans A ‘Losing Strategy’

“The View” co-host Meghan McCain said on Monday that reports of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy asking Congresswoman Liz Cheney to apologize for her vote to impeach former President Donald Trump was concerning.

McCain said Republican leadership taking this route was a “losing strategy.”

McCain On Cheney’s Impeachment Vote: ‘She Has Nothing To Apologize For’

McCain said on ABC, “There was a really interesting report that came out in Axios over the weekend that said that Kevin McCarthy actually asked her to apologize for voting for impeachment, and she said that.”

“She said people in the caucus asked me to apologize, and she said that publicly,” McCain said.

According to Axios, before the GOP conference met to decide the fates of Cheney and Marjorie Taylor Greene, GOP House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy had asked Cheney to apologize.

McCain said it worries her that McCarthy or any other Republican would think that voting for impeachment was something to apologize for.

“It’s interesting to know that it’s the leader of the caucus that asked her to do that, and she defiantly said she won’t apologize, and she has nothing to apologize for,” McCain insisted.

McCain Is Worried About The ‘Liz Cheneys Of The Party,’ Including Herself

She continued, “I now am feeling very concerned about the fact that the leader of Republicans in Congress seems to think that if you are for impeachment, you have something to apologize for and atone for, and I do think that’s a losing strategy.”

McCain is worried there isn’t enough love for the “Liz Cheneys of the party,” and included herself in the same category as Cheney.

“I’m very skeptical of the big-tent party narrative right now because it doesn’t seem like there’s a lot of love for the Liz Cheneys of the party,” McCain complained, adding, “which I guess at this point includes me.”

McCain Calls Cheney A ‘Red-blooded Conservative’

“The View” co-host also added that she is worried about the future of the GOP when a “red-blooded conservative” like Cheney can be treated this way.

“I’m very skeptical of the promises that we will respect the Liz Cheneys after this,” McCain said. “My question is, how long until we start trashing her?”

“I think she’s doing good work now, but at a certain point, she’s a red-blooded conservative,” McCain insisted. “She’s not a squish or a RINO.”

“She is not someone in the middle,” McCain finished.

McCain and Cheney exemplify what many in the conservative movement consider the Establishment of the GOP, who are out of step with the base that largely aligns with President Trump.

In a measure of how out of step she may be, Cheney has been censured by the Wyoming state Republican Party, and at least 10 County Republican Parties in Wyoming for her vote to impeach Trump.

Commentator Dick Morris recently said Cheney has a ‘snowball’s chance in Hell’ at getting re-elected.

Dick Morris: Liz Cheney ‘Has A Snowball’s Chance In Hell’ At Getting Re-Elected

Former Clinton campaign adviser and popular political prognosticator Dick Morris recently said that Congresswoman Liz Cheney will lose her re-election campaign in 2022 in the GOP primary due to her decision to impeach former President Donald Trump.

Morris also said allowing Cheney to remain in Republican leadership shows how out of touch party’s leaders are with their base.

Morris: ‘Liz Cheney Is A Gone Goose’

“She has snowball’s chance in hell of getting reelected,” Morris recently told Newsmax

“Her favorability is down to 13% and she loses the projected primary by 3-1 or 4-1,” Morris said. “Wyoming went 70% for Trump.”

“And Liz Cheney is a gone goose,” he added.

Morris explained how Republicans leaders don’t understand where the rank and file base is right now.

Morris said, “And it’s ridiculous, and shows how out of touch Kevin McCarthy and the Republican leadership is with the voters of the Republican Party, that he and Scalise worked overtime to round up votes for this…traitor, who voted to impeach Donald Trump.”

“The voters of her state, Wyoming, her state,” Morris insisted “will not be so forgiving.”

Cheney was censured last week by the Wyoming Republican Party for being among the ten Republicans who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump.

Previous to that state-wide Party vote, many of Wyoming’s County Republican parties also voted to censure her.

Morris: ‘She’s Part Of Republican Royalty Because Of Her Father’

“While she did win the vote in the House because it was basically set up by the leadership and she’s kind of inherited royalty among Republicans,” Morris noted.

Morris did stated a glaring fact about Cheney’s current popularity back home.

“But, in fact, there’s some polling in Wyoming [that suggests that] she has a 13% job approval among Republicans,” Morris said.

Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, is currently the third highest-ranking position in the House GOP.

“She shouldn’t be [Wyoming’s] congressman in any case,” Morris said. “But she’s part of Republican royalty because of her father and they don’t want to move against her.”

“But the voters have their own minds,” Morris reminded.

RELATED: Trump Voices Support For Lou Dobbs After Fox Cancels His Show – ‘Nobody Loves America More’

Morris then explained how Republican leaders are probably mis-analyzing their own voters.

“The word ‘base’ is something the Left likes to use to describe Trump supporters,” Morris said.

“It’s not his base, it’s 80% or 90% of the Republican Party. The word is the Republican Party. And they try to pretend it’s fragmented, but it’s not.”

“And if it [is] fragmented, it’s not the Left against the Right, it’s the top against the rest of it,” Morris explained.

“That’s what you’re seeing here” Morris finished.

Newt Gingrich Predicts Democrats Will Throw Away Congress ‘Once Again’ With ‘Radical’ Budget Agenda

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich spoke out on Friday to predict that Democrats will throw away their control of Congress with a “radical” budget agenda.

He said this on Fox News after they passed the $1.9 trillion coronavirus stimulus package.

Gingrich Comments On Democrats

Gingrich said that Democrats “have clearly decided” that they will “go for broke on a radical agenda,” adding that this “almost certainly guarantees” House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) will take over House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) role.

“[L]et me start and point out this is the third time they’ve done this,” Gingrich said. “Bill Clinton passed a huge tax increase with no Republicans, and in 1994, they lost 54 seats in the House. Pelosi and others rammed through bills with no Republicans, and in 2010, they lost 63 seats in the House.”

“What the Democrats have now clearly decided is that they are going to go for broke on a radical agenda,” he added.

“They’re going to do everything they can without any Republicans, and that means that they are going to own everything in the election of 2022, and [that] almost certainly guarantees that Kevin McCarthy is the next Speaker and that the Democrats will, in fact once again for the third time have thrown away control of the Congress,” Gingrich said.

Gingrich Says Pelosi Is ‘Hysterical’

Later in this interview, Gingrich said that Pelosi is “hysterical” because she is losing a grip on her speakership.

“That five-vote margin is going to break down sometime this spring as members start to say, ‘Hey, I can’t go back home if I keep voting like a radical.’ And at that point, McCarthy will be the functional leader of the House,” he claimed.

This comes weeks after Gingrich blasted Pelosi as the “most destructive Speaker in history.”

“First off, she keeps violating the Constitution,” Gingrich said of Pelosi. “The latest impeachment is just a simple example.”

“She uses her power ruthlessly and she has really pushed through the most radical positions ever taken by an American Speaker, including abolishing mother and father and uncle and aunt and son and daughter as words, literally trying to strip out any gender reference from the House of Representatives,” he added. “I think she’s very dangerous.”

MSNBC Cuts Away From GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy To Tell Audience ‘What You Are Watching Now Is Not True’

On Thursday, MSNBC personality Nicolle Wallace broke away from coverage of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s floor remarks concerning Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene to claim to her viewers that “what you are watching right now isn’t true.”

Wallace made her comments during her show “Deadline.”

McCarthy was speaking before Democrats held a vote to remove Greene from her committees over controversial comments she made before being elected to office.

Watch the video below.

McCarthy Blasts Democrats

McCarthy said on the House floor, “The rushed impeachment threw without a shred of due process just like today. Reducing this tool from the highest constitutional remedy to just another opportunity to fund raise and go on TV.”

“Now they are declaring the majority has veto power over the minorities members selection for committee,” McCarthy said. “We reviewed this with the parliamentarian.”

“Never before in the history of this House has the majority abused its power in this way,” he added.

RELATED: Tucker Carlson Rips NYU Over Study Claiming That There’s No Censorship Of Conservatives On Social Media

The House Minority Leader then turned his sights on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

“But it is clear that Speaker Pelosi’s caucus think differently,” McCarthy said. “They are blinded by partisanship and politics. It’s the American people who will suffer the most because of it.”

McCarthy then roundly condemned Greene’s comments before she became a congresswoman.

He said, “As far as the member in question, let me be very clear, Representative Greene’s past comments and posts as a private citizen do not represent of values of my party.”

“As a Republican, as a conservative, as an American, I condemn those views unequivocally,” McCarthy said. “I condemned them when they first surfaced and I condemn them today.”

McCarthy then focused on the QAnon conspiracy theory itself.

“This House overwhelmingly voted to condemn the dangerous lies of QAnon last Congress, and continue to do so,” McCarthy insisted. “I also made this clear when I met with representative Greene.”

Wallace: ‘Most Of What Kevin McCarthy Is Saying… Is Not True’

“I also made clear that we as members have a responsibility to hold ourselves to a higher standard,” McCarthy said. “She acknowledged this during or conversation and apologized for her past comments.”

He emphasized, “I will hold her to her words and her actions moving forward.”

That is when Wallace cut away to tell her viewers what was ‘really’ happening.

Wallace said, breaking from covering McCarthy, “We’re going to come out of it because most of it is not true.”

Wallace then doubled down, “Most of what Kevin McCarthy is saying, while he appears to believe it as it comes out of his mouth, is not true.”

RELATED: Marjorie Taylor Greene Calls Out Media As Dems Prepare To Kick Her Off Congressional Committees

“Marjorie Taylor Greene’s committee appointments are not in the air and up for a vote today because of Democrats,” Wallace said. “It’s up in the air and up for a vote today because Kevin McCarthy can’t clean his own house.”

Then she backed Liz Cheney and continued to dump on McCarthy.

Wallace said, “He led 61 of his colleagues to vote against Liz Cheney’s leadership post because she had the audacity to call an insurrection incited by Donald Trump an insurrection inspired by and incited by Donald Trump. So what you are watching right now isn’t true.”

Wallace’s argument isn’t a set of facts. It’s her own opinion.

It’s her opinion that Democrats were kicking Greene off her committees because “Kevin McCarthy can’t clean his own house.”

It’s unclear what Wallace means by this. What action, exactly, is McCarthy supposed to take? Marjorie Taylor Greene was duly elected by the people of Georgia’s 14th Congressional District – by 75%.

And what does the Liz Cheney vote have to do with Democrats kicking Greene off her committees?

There’s nothing in the Constitution, or the law, or even the House rules that requires Democrats to remove someone from their committees because the other party held a vote in their caucus about their leadership.

The truth is, Wallace wanted to cut away from McCarthy to editorialize.

House GOP Meets For Decisions On Liz Cheney, Marjorie Taylor Greene

Republicans in the House of Representatives gather for a crucial meeting on Wednesday to discuss the future of two House members. Liz Cheney and Marjorie Taylor Greene, who represent a growing division between factions of the Republican Party with two very different visions.

Republicans will debate whether or not to remove Liz Cheney (R-WY) from her position as GOP Conference Chair.

Cheney has come under fire from fellow Trump-supporting Republican members of the House for her vote to impeach the former president on charges that he incited the riot that took place at the Capitol on Jan. 6.

Also at issue is freshman member of Congress Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), and whether or not she should be removed from her congressional committee assignments.

Controversial comments made by Greene prior to her being elected to Congress have surfaced on social media.

Major Issues On The Table For The GOP

According to a CNN report, in 2019, Greene “liked” a comment that stated “a bullet to the head would be quicker,” in a thread that discussed the removal of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

There are other other claims that she has espoused QAnon conspiracy theories and confronted political opponents such as Parkland High School shooting survivor and gun activist David Hogg on video.

On The Hot Seat, Kevin McCarthy

The eyes of all GOP House members will be on Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

On Tuesday, McCarthy had a long anticipated, well-publicized 90 minute meeting with Greene, however, aides disclosed little about what was discussed.

The possible removal of Greene from her committee assignments will be the subject of another separate meeting, also on Wednesday.

Several Republicans are calling foul on Democrat double standards that ignore past anti-Semetic remarks that have been made by Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and the incendiary comments of Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA).

Politico reports that McCarthy may try to broker a deal with House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD), but it is not know whether or not Hoyer will agree to any such deal.

The Future Of The Republican Party?

The push to remove Cheney began with her ‘yes’ vote on impeachment. On the heels of that vote, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) was one of the first to call for her ouster as Conference Chair. Nine other Republicans had also voted to impeach Trump.

Cheney is also in trouble at home. Recently, ten Wyoming Republican County Parties have voted to censure Cheney for her vote.

She already has a primary opponent for 2022. Wyoming State Senator Anthony Bouchard will challenge Cheney.

Gaetz recently also traveled to Cheyenne Wyoming to call on Trump supporters to back Cheney’s removal from Congress.

Cheney enjoys much support by those who are seen as the “establishment,” the old guard of the Republican Party.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said of Cheney, “Liz Cheney is a leader with deep convictions and the courage to act on them.”

Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC) called her, “a strong and reliable voice of the conservative party.”

Greene, as a newly elected member of Congress, has not even been on Capitol Hill long enough to put forth much legislation. But already the establishment wing of the Republican Party seems very threatened by her.

Mitch McConnell called her “a cancer” for the GOP in a reference to her “loony lies and conspiracy theories.”

“Somebody who has suggested that perhaps no airplane hit the Pentagon on 9/11, that horrifying school shootings were pre-staged, and that the Clintons crashed JFK Jr’s airplane is not living in reality. This has nothing to do with the challenges facing American families or the robust debates on substance that strengthen our party.”

Sen. Mitt Romney called for distance. “I think we should have nothing to do with Marjorie Taylor Greene, and I think we should repudiate the things she said and move away from her.”

Greene responded to McConnell that, “the real cancer for the Republican party is weak Republicans who only know how to lose gracefully.”

https://twitter.com/mtgreenee/status/1356442381491593218

There are clearly two wings of the Republican party forming. The McConnell, Romney, Cheney wing of graceful losers, and the new faces of Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene, who are tired of establishment business as usual.

Make no mistake, the American people will decide the winner.

Ana Navarro Claims McCarthy’s Mar-a-Lago Trip Was ‘White Slavery’ – Says He’s Owned By His Master, Trump

On Friday’s episode of “The View,” host Ana Navarro ripped Rep. Kevin McCarthy for going to visit former President Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate, saying that this was an example of “white slavery.”

Navarro Blasts McCarthy For Visiting Trump

“This has been such a sad week for the Republican Party because this is a time when they had a chance to get rid of the cross that they have been bearing with Donald Trump, who has divided the party and opened it up for all sorts of nut jobs to come into the party,” Navarro said.

“Instead, what we see is Kevin McCarthy, who has been all over the place, making a pilgrimage to I guess what is going to become now the Republican Mecca, I call it Far-a-Lago. And by the way, can we put the picture back up?” she added.

Related: Donald Trump Meets With Kevin McCarthy At Mar-A-Lago To Plan 2022 Republican House Takeover

“Can we just talk about the interior of Mar-a-Lago?” Navarro continued. “It’s like, what vintage bordello look? And so he went down there to make nice with Donald Trump because Donald Trump is threatening to open up a third party if Republicans don’t continue kissing his ring, among other body parts.”

“I think it’s pathetic,” she said. “You know, I think it’s white slavery, what I just witnessed from Kevin McCarthy. He looks like he’s owned by his master, and his master is Donald Trump, and it’s pathetic.”

McCarthy Visits Trump

This comes after McCarthy had a “very good and cordial” meeting with Trump in Florida, welcoming the president’s support in promoting GOP candidates in the next election, according to Fox News.

“President Trump has agreed to work with Leader McCarthy on helping the Republican Party to become a majority in the House,” read a statement from Trump-aligned Save America PAC.

“They worked very well together in the last election and picked up at least 15 [sic] seats when most predicted it would be the opposite. They will do so again, and the work has already started,” the statement continued.

Navarro has made a career for herself by claiming to be a Republican who was disillusioned by the party due to Trump. However, virtually nothing that comes out of her mouth sounds like it’s coming from someone who was ever a Republican.

Adam Schiff Rips GOP Leaders As ‘Dangerous Cult’ Over Threats Made To Democrats

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) blasted the Republican Party as a “dangerous cult” after it was reported that names of Democrat lawmakers were found on a list on the person of a man who was caught near the U.S. Capitol with a gun and ammunition.

Police arrested the 71 year-old man at the Capitol on Wednesday for possessing a pistol without a license after he was caught shouting at guardsmen. Officials said afterwards that the man had been at the Capitol riots and had posted memes related to the QAnon conspiracy theory on social media.

Schiff Attacks Republicans

Schiff wasted no time in using this to fuel his own agenda as he attacked Republican leaders after CNN found several Facebook posts from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) calling for the execution of Democratic leaders.

“You look at some of these members, including Representative Greene, who have threatened on social media prior to her election other members of Congress,” Schiff told CNN host Wolf Blitzer.

“You have members like her who have suggested that attacks against students, murderous attacks on high school campuses like at Parkland were somehow fake, fraudulent, or false flag operations,” he added. “And they’re being rewarded by [House Minority Leader Rep.] Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) with assignments on the education committee!”

“You know, the GOP leadership is becoming little more than a cult and a dangerous cult,” Schiff continued.

Greene has already responded by saying that the controversial posts were actually written by members of her team, and that she does not endorse them.

Schiff Doubles Down

Schiff went on to blast McCarthy for visiting former President Donald Trump at Mar-A-Lago this week.

“That is sadly where the GOP leadership is at in Congress, and that’s part of the reason why the Capitol looks like an armed fortress right now,” Schiff lamented.

Schiff added that he is disappointed at the permanent fencing being erected around the Capitol after the riots earlier this month.

“It’s just awful to see the necessary presence of so many troops, National Guard troops, guarding the nation’s Capitol,” he said. “I would have never imagined that would be necessary, and I hope that it won’t be necessary indefinitely.”

Republicans Start Turning On Marjorie Taylor Greene

Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is facing a growing number of critics from within the Republican party over controversial words and actions she engaged in prior to becoming a congresswoman.

No top Republicans, however, have thus far called for Greene to be punished either with expulsion or censure, nor have they stated she should resign.

CNN reported that in 2019 Greene ‘liked’ controversial comments on social media, including one that said “a bullet to the head would be quicker” in a discussion to remove House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

Following that report, a video re-emerged showing Greene harassing anti-gun zealot David Hogg near the Capitol.

Republicans Turn Their Back on Marjorie Taylor Greene

Some Republicans have voiced their concerns over Marjorie Taylor Green’s past which dabbled in Qanon conspiracy theories, liking violent comments, and harassing political opponents.

Michele Exner, a spokesperson for House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, indicated he would be having a “conversation” with Greene over these comments and actions.

Exner also called the reports on Greene “deeply disturbing.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for GOP Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney (R-WY) described the comments as “repugnant” in a statement to CNN, while Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) condemned them in a statement.

RELATED: Nunes Blasts ‘Socialist Revolutionary’ AOC After She Accuses Ted Cruz Of Attempted Murder

Democrats Refuse to Condemn Their Own Extreme Rhetoric

The timing of the media attacks against Marjorie Taylor Greene can hardly be ignored.

Last week, on President Joe Biden’s first full day in office, Greene officially filed articles of impeachment in the House of Representatives, as she promised she would.

“President Joe Biden is unfit to hold the office of the Presidency,” she said in a statement. “His pattern of abuse of power as President Obama’s Vice President is lengthy and disturbing.”

None of her accusations are untrue, so the media has instead pivoted to dredging up past controversial statements.

All the while, they allow current extremist rhetoric from Democrats to poison the political well.

Greene liking a comment about using a “bullet” to remove Pelosi from office is indeed reprehensible.

So is accusing Republicans of being the “enemy within,” asserting that Democrat lawmakers are fearful of that “enemy,” as Pelosi herself said.

Or, as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) did, inciting violence against Republicans by accusing them of attempted murder.

Or, when Maxine Waters (D-CA) told her followers to accost Republicans at the grocery store.

Or, when Cory Booker (D-NJ) told supporters that they need to “get up in the face” of some members of Congress.

No, those calls to violence are perfectly fine. Democrats will always rally around their own no matter how despicable their past comments or behavior.

Republicans will all-too-willingly throw Marjorie Taylor Greene to the wolves.

Donald Trump Meets With Kevin McCarthy At Mar-A-Lago To Plan 2022 Republican House Takeover

On Thursday, House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy met with former President Trump in Florida where the two discussed plans at Mar-a-Lago on how Republicans could take back the House in 2022.

McCarthy’s meeting was “very good and cordial” with the former President, according to Trump’s team.

After the meeting, McCarthy tweeted, “United and ready to win in ’22”

‘President Trump Has Agreed To Work With Leader McCarthy’ On 2022

A statement from the Trump-backed Save America PAC read, “President Trump has agreed to work with Leader McCarthy on helping the Republican Party to become a majority in the House.”

“They worked very well together in the last election and picked up at least 15 seats when most predicted it would be the opposite,” it continued. “They will do so again, and the work has already started.”

A statement from McCarthy’s team on the meeting read, “For the sake of our country, the radical Democrat agenda must be stopped.”

“A united conservative movement will strengthen the bonds of our citizens and uphold the freedoms our country was founded on.”

Fox News reports that an aide familiar the meeting said its purpose was to move the Republican Party forward.

The aide told Fox News, “They are catching up as McCarthy will be in the neighborhood.”

“They’ve been on good terms for a while, and that will be important for the party moving forward” the aide added.

Liz Cheney A Top Target For Trump

CNN reports that Trump will bring his energy to bear on neoconservative Rep. Liz Cheney, the #3 Republican in the House.

Cheney, along with nine other Republicans, voted with Democrats to impeach Trump in January.

According to CNN, Trump has been following the effort by House Republicans to remove Cheney from her leadership position.

Just this week, America First Congressman Matt Gaetz, a top ally of Trump, flew to Wyoming to encourage Republicans to toss Cheney and elect someone else to Congress.

The Meeting Indicates GOP Needs Very Popular Trump

The meeting was reportedly set up after Trump’s team learned McCarthy would be fundraising in Florida.

It is no secret McCarthy would like to replace Nancy Pelosi as House Speaker if his party can take back the House in two years.

Trump invited McCarthy to Mar-a-Lago and the House Republican Leader was quick to accept.

What this also signifies besides the upcoming midterm is that top Republican leaders appear to have no plans to break away from Trump following the January 6 Capitol Hill attacks.

McCarthy had said that Trump bore some responsibility for the attack.

RELATED: Rashida Tlaib Boasts That Green New Deal Pressured Biden To Be ‘More Aggressive’ About Climate Change

McCarthy Criticized Trump After Capitol Violence

Opposing impeachment on the House floor on January 13, McCarthy still said “the President bears responsibility for Wednesday’s attack on Congress by mob rioters.”

“He should have immediately denounced the mob when he saw what was unfolding,” McCarthy added. “These facts require immediate action by President Trump.”

As for whether or not Trump’s speech that day provoked the attack, McCarthy said last week, “I don’t believe he provoked it if you listen to what he said at the rally.”

It is likely that this subject was not a focus when McCarthy and Trump met Thursday at the former president’s resort.

Whether Republican leaders like it or not, Republican voters still very much support President Trump.

An Axios poll from the week after the Capitol incident showed that 92% of Republican voters want to see Trump run for President again in 2024.

CNN’s Jake Tapper Accuses Republicans Of Trying To Remove Clinton For Lying But Not Trump For Inciting A ‘Terrorist Attack’

CNN’s Jake Tapper had a full meltdown on Tuesday about Senate Republicans voting that the impeachment trial against former President Donald Trump was unconstitutional, accusing them of having a “different standard” than they did with Bill Clinton.

Tapper Goes Off on Republicans

“It is just so strange because, look, I’m not a constitutional scholar,” Tapper said. “I don’t have an opinion on this, but a lot of people who are voting to not have any consequences for Donald Trump are doing so not because of constitutionality but because they don’t want to hold Donald Trump to any sort of standard, and they never have.”

“Some of these are the same people who are like vote to deny government assistance to somebody because they test positive for drugs,” he added. “They believe in consequences for everybody else but the president.”

“The outgoing president, former president, can literally incite an insurrection on the Capitol to hold on to power, to subvert democracy, and they don’t think there should be consequences,” Tapper continued.

Related: Combat Veteran And Double Amputee Rep Brian Mast Shreds Jake Tapper After CNN Anchor Questions His Patriotism

Tapper Doubles Down

Not stopping there, Tapper proceeded to double down with his unhinged attack on Republicans.

“So if they don’t believe that an impeachment trial is constitutional, you know, that’s obviously a legal position and legal argument, but if you don’t believe that, then what consequence?” he continued. “What consequence should there be? Or do you think that some people are just above the law?”

“I mean, should there be a criminal trial?” Tapper added. I mean, Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy, for that matter, have said that Donald Trump played a role in the terrorist attack. He played a role.”

“I mean, Bill Clinton lied under oath, and they thought that there needed to be— he needed to be removed from office for lying under oath,” the CNN host concluded. “Donald Trump incites a terrorist attack, and they have a different standard.”

No attack on Republicans is too below the belt for Tapper. Earlier this month, he said that “there are Republican members of Congress I know who clearly have lost their minds, who just will not accept reality when it comes to the facts about Donald Trump.”
