Romney Says Republicans Must Admit Biden Won Legitimately For ‘National Unity’

Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT), who has long been known as one of the biggest “Never Trump” Republicans in Congress, spoke out on Tuesday to say that in order for “national unity” to be achieved, Republicans must admit that Joe Biden legitimately won the presidential election.

Romney Sends Message To Republicans

“There is no question that the nation is divided now, and there is a lot of anger,” Romney said during an online forum presented by the Economic Club of Chicago.

“To the people on my side who say an impeachment trial is going to inflame passions more. I say, first of all, have you gone out publicly and said that there was not widespread voter fraud and that Joe Biden is the legitimate president of the United States?” he added. “If you said that, then I’m happy to listen to you talk about other things that might inflame anger and divisiveness.”

‘But if you haven’t said that, that’s really what’s at the source of the anger right now,” Romney said. “There are many, many Republicans, almost three-quarters, who believe democracy itself has been stolen. That a very passioned perspective. You’ve got to have that get to the rearview mirror before you talk about the next stage.”

Romney Talks ‘National Unity’

Romney, who has spent the past few years dividing our country and our party even further by relentlessly attacking Donald Trump, went on to say what he feels needs to happen for there to be “national unity.”

“I would also say if you want to see national unity, you really have to rely on truth and justice,” the Utah senator said. “Justice being carried out is something which the American people expect. Five people died with the attack on the Capitol. Five human beings died. There’s no question but that the president incited the insurrection that occurred.”

“To what degree and so forth is something we’re going to evaluate in the trial that will proceed,” Romney said. “How culpable is he? That’s something we will evaluate.”

“But to simply say, ‘Well, we’re gonna just move on because we need to be united,’ would not be, I think, consistent with the history of justice as applied in our country,” he concluded. “And I believe it’s an element of unity, which I look forward to having resolved so that we can move on.”

RNC Says They Will Be Neutral If Trump Runs In 2024 – But Polls Show GOP Voters Definitely Won’t

The Republican National Committee (RNC) says it will not actively back former President Donald Trump should he decide to run again in 2024 and will remain neutral in the contest.

RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel said in an interview with the Associated Press that, “The party has to stay neutral. I’m not telling anybody to run or not to run in 2024. That’s going to be up to those candidates  going forward. What I really do want to see him do, though, is help us win back majorities in 2022.”

RELATED: Matt Gaetz And Liz Cheney Trade Barbs In Battle For Future Of The Republican Party

There Are Visible Differences In The GOP

2020 Senior Advisor to the Trump campaign Jason Miller says that is exactly what Trump wants to do.

Miller says the president, “made clear his goal is to win back the House and Senate for Republicans in 2022.”

But there are some visible fissures in the Republican Party. All is not well for 2022.

A perfect example of that is the recent sniping between Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Liz Cheney (R-WY).

Gaetz, a strong and vocal supporter of Donald Trump, flew to Cheney’s state of Wyoming to campaign against her, after she voted to impeach President Trump.

When Gaetz announced he would go to Wyoming to help “inspire” voters to oust Cheney, her office responded with snark, stating, “Rep. Gaetz can leave his beauty bag at home. In Wyoming the men don’t wear make-up.”

There has been a lot of speculation as to what Donald Trump’s future plans might be, aside from helping the GOP in 2022.

Indications are that Trump won’t just be helping the GOP, but trying to reshape it as well.

There has been talk of Trump starting a third party. Donald has even come up with a name for it, the “Patriot Party.”

Reports indicated that Trump was using the specter of a third party to hold Republicans in line on the upcoming impeachment trial.

Instead, The Donald has apparently decided to primary challenge “Never Trump” Republicans.

It was also reported that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was “pleased” about impeachment, saying he thought that it might help to “purge” Trump from the Republican Party.

What McConnell and the rest of his crowd don’t seem to realize is that he may very well “purge” Republican voters, angry at the party for dissing Trump.

A poll from Axios shows that Republicans side with Trump over McConnell – big time.

There has also been belief that Trump may start a media outlet to rival Fox News.

Trump has been highly critical of the conservative news channel since the early call for Arizona for Joe Biden on election night.

America First vs. America Last

The divide within the Republican Party may be just this simple, but simple isn’t always without casualties. There is clearly now a Trump wing of the party which includes guys like Matt Gaetz.

That fact makes the Mitch McConnells and the Liz Cheneys of the party crazy.

Gaetz’s America First vision of a strong economy, peace, low taxes and regulations, and less government interference – the things that Trump ran on in 2016 – have more of an attraction to average Americans.

What Trump called the “America Last” agenda consists of sending American troops hither and yon for indefinite periods of time, not standing up to the liberal Democrat agenda, and voting to impeach a president that his supporters feel is the only one listening to them.

The Cheney/McConnell types support the latter vision.

And they seem to be hanging on for dear life to the idea of Democrat “unity.” The definition of which is usually means ‘Republicans shut up and cave to Democrats.’

The Numbers Are In Trump’s Favor

A Rasmussen survey released on Tuesday said that 56% of Republican voters “believe that Trump should either probably or definitely run for president again in 2024, or at least be a political power figure.

Fifty-three percent believe a third party is a good idea.

The aforementioned Axios poll has a whopping 92% of Republicans agreeing that Trump should be the GOP candidate for President in 2024.

Biden White House Responds To Twitter Banning Trump – They Feel ‘Blessed’

President Joe Biden’s White House reportedly feels “blessed” over the fact that Twitter banned Donald Trump earlier this month.

Biden’s White House Feels ‘Blessed’ Trump Has Been Banned From Twitter

“The President spent two years ignoring Trump’s distractions and staying focused on the message he wanted to deliver, and it paid off with a commanding win,” an unnamed White House official told Politico, which described Twitter banning Trump as a “priceless gift.”

The official went on to say that the Biden administration will stick to its communications strategy regardless of what Trump does in the future.

“Whether or not Trump slinks back into public view or opens up a Parler account isn’t going to make a difference in how we communicate with the American people,” the official said.

Another source who Politico described as an “outside adviser” said that Biden’s White House feels “blessed” by Trump not being on Twitter.

“Not having to deal with a deranged new tweet every hour? They feel blessed,” the adviser claimed.

Trump Banned From Twitter Earlier This Month

Twitter banned Trump earlier this month after accusing him of inciting the riots at the Capitol. Since then, Trump has remained almost completely silent after leaving the White House and heading to Florida.

“It has become abundantly clear since his absence on Twitter how much Trump was driving a media narrative,” said Paul Bentz, an Arizona-based Republican strategist and pollster.

Philip N. Howard, director of the Oxford Internet Institute, celebrated Trump being removed from Twitter as well.

“Trump had an amazing ability to distract from issues. He was able to plant seeds of doubt about entire institutions and regular democratic processes,” he said. “Having him off Twitter allows the conversation about climate change to stay on topic — and about evidence. The conversation about race and social inequality can stay focused on policy ideas.”

“He was a kind of sinkhole in the media ecosystem,” Howard added, “which often trapped professional journalists into covering inane stories or simply burned them out as individuals.”

Though Twitter banned Trump, however, support for him is not dwindling. A new Morning Consult poll found that an increasing number of Republicans, 50 percent, want Trump to play a “major role” in putting together the future of the GOP.

MSNBC’s Jason Johnson: Democrats “Can’t Negotiate, Can’t Work With ‘Terrorists’”

On Wednesday, MSNBC political analyst Jason Johnson cited the example of alleged QAnon supporter and GOP Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene and came to the conclusion that Democrats can’t work with “terrorists.”

Making his comments on MSNBC’s “Deadline,” Johnson declared, “you can’t negotiate, you can’t legislate and you can’t work with terrorists.”

Watch the video clip below.

MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace Warns That Republicans Are Flirting With Terrorists

MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace, who formerly served as George W. Bush’s press secretary, said of Greene, “This isn’t even about views. She’s a conspiracy theorist, committed the very same kinds of disinformation that today the Department of Homeland Security warned against, in almost an unprecedented bulletin.”

“She is what they are describing in the Homeland Security Department’s bulletin about the world views of potentially violent extremists who represent domestic terrorism,” Wallace continued.

“Those are the views that this congresswoman has.”

Yesterday, the Department of Homeland Security issued a National Terrorism Advisory System bulletin “warning the public of a “heightened threat environment” across the United States following last week’s presidential inauguration.”

The bulletin claims “Information suggests that some ideologically-motivated violent extremists with objections to the exercise of governmental authority and the presidential transition, as well as other perceived grievances fueled by false narratives, could continue to mobilize to incite or commit violence.”

The bulletin goes on to encourage readers to report “suspicious activity” to the FBI, and to avoid large crowds.

RELATED: Dem Rep. Introduces Bill Barring Security Clearances For Capitol Rioters, QAnon Believers

Wallace then set her sights on the 45 Republicans who essentially voted against an impeachment trial for former President Donald Trump.

Wallace said, “I think what is revealed by the Senate vote this week, with 45 Republicans to not even hold a trial for the president who incited the insurrection, who had all of them had all of them hiding in their own offices with the furniture pushed up again the doors. What were they hiding for?”

Wallace asked what Republicans were scared of.

“If Donald Trump hadn’t incited a violent insurrection that they were scared about,” the questioning Wallace persisted. “Why weren’t they roaming the halls? If they weren’t afraid, why were they in offices with furniture pushed up against a door?”

MSNBC’s Jason Johnson Claims Republicans ‘Have A Violent Terrorist Organization That’s Supported By Their Ideology’

Speaking to Johnson, Wallace went on:

“And my only point about the opportunity that Democrats have is that they have today, this bulletin describes the threat, they describe the world view of the people who right now and through the end of April, in the views of the people at the Department of Homeland Security, the world view is the same word view as the views publicly espoused by the QAnon member of Congress.”

In August of 2020, Rep. Greene said she had distanced herself from QAnon, saying, “And so, yeah, there was a time there for a while that I had read about Q, posted about it, talked about it, which is some of these videos you’ve seen come out. But once I started finding misinformation, I decided that I would choose another path.”

Johnson replying to Wallace, stated of Greene, “If that community, if Georgia wants this crazed conspiracy theorist to represent them, that’s their right, but the Republican Party doesn’t have to support her.”

“They don’t have to put her on committees, take money away from her, they can criticize her, but they are not,” Johnson added.

Johnson then implied that Republicans support a “violent terrorist organization,” apparently referring to the so-called QAnon movement.

He continued, “They know that they have a violent terrorist organization that’s supported by their ideology. They try to pretend it’s not the case.”

Johnson later referred to far left Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, saying, “AOC mentioned in interviews after the insurrection that she didn’t want to shelter in place with fellow Republicans, because she was legitimately concerned that they may rather out, that they may tell some of the terrorists where she was hiding.”

RELATED: Google Announces It Will Stop Donating To Republicans Who Objected To 2020 Election Results

Johnson: ‘We Don’t Negotiate With Terrorists’

“So when you have members of the Republican Party who are seen as being in lockstep with a terrorist organization, the Democrats have to stop saying — it’s above and beyond unity — they have to say these people are terrorists and don’t want to govern,” Johnson said.

This is where Johnson laid it all out.

“We don’t negotiate with terrorists” Johnson said, referring to Republicans.

Then he gave some advice to Democrats.

“The first Democrat that says that is the person who should be the leader of the messages for the party for the next 18 months,” Johnson added. “You can’t negotiate, you can’t legislate, and you can’t work with terrorists.”

Schumer Unloads On Republicans Refusing To Support Impeachment – Vows To Hold Trial

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (R-NY) came unglued on the Senate floor on Wednesday as he let loose on the 45 Republican senators who voted that an impeachment trial against former President Donald Trump in the Senate would be unconstitutional.

On Tuesday night, the Senate voted to dismiss a motion put forth by Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) that having an impeachment trial for a president who is no longer in office violates the constitution.

However, only five Republicans joined Democrats in voting to table the motion, making it incredibly unlikely that Schumer will be successful in impeaching Trump.

Schumer Attacks Republicans

Schumer took to the Senate floor the next day to call the 45 Republicans who voted in favor of tabling an impeachment trial “deeply irresponsible.”

“Only five Republican senators were willing to take a principled stand against this reckless and ill-advised effort by members of this body who are eager to excuse President Trump’s campaign to overturn the election and apparently to excuse his incitement of the mob that every one of us experienced in this Capitol,” Schumer said, according to CBS News.

“I would simply say to all of my colleagues, make no mistake, there will be a trial, and the evidence against the former president will be presented in living color for the nation and every one of us to see once again,” he added.

Related: Schumer Promises Quick Impeachment Trial, A Lot Of Witnesses Not Necessary

The House already impeached Trump for a second time for allegedly inciting the Capitol riots earlier this month, and if the Senate does indeed impeach him, he won’t be able to run for office again.

“No one will be able to avert their gaze from what Mr. Trump said and did and the consequences of his actions,” Schumer said. “We will all watch what happened. We will listen to what happened. And then we will vote. We will pass judgment as our solemn duty under the Constitution demands.”

Other Democrats Have Second Thoughts

Others Democrats, however, are starting to realize that an impeachment trial may not be the best idea. Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) has teamed up with Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) to pitch censure resolution against Trump to their colleagues.

“The vote on the Paul motion yesterday was completely clarifying that we’re not going to get near 67 [votes],” said Kaine, who was Hillary Clinton’s running mate in her failed presidential run against Trump in 2016.

“To do a trial knowing you’ll get 55 votes at the max seems to me to be not the right prioritization of our time,” he added. “Obviously we do a trial, maybe we can do it fast, but my top priority is COVID relief and getting the Biden cabinet approved.”

Related: GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Makes Good On Promise To File Impeachment Against Biden

Collins pledged to vote in favor of censuring Trump “in lieu of” an impeachment trial.

“Senator Kaine and I have been working on a proposal for censure. It is still in process but I think yesterday’s vote on the Senate floor shows that it is extremely unlikely that President Trump would be convicted, and that indeed the five votes to even proceed to a trial is probably the high mark on what you’re going to see for Republican support,” Collins said.

“If the outcome of the trial is already obvious — which I believe yesterday’s vote shows clearly…then the question is, is there another way to express condemnation of the president’s activities with regard to the riot and the pressure that he put on state officials?” she added.

Pelosi Calls On Democrat Lawmakers To ‘Write Their Stories’ Of Capitol Riots

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) sent a letter to her fellow Democrat lawmakers on Wednesday urging them to “write your story of January 6,” referring to the Capitol riots.

Pelosi Pens Letter To Democrats Regarding Capitol Riots

“Today also marks three weeks since the insurrection against the U.S. Capitol and against our Democracy,” Pelosi wrote, according to The Hill. “I urge all Members to take advantage of this time to write your story of January 6.”

“I also hope you have taken advantage of the trauma and resilience resources provided by the Office of Employee Assistance, and I encourage you to do so if you have not. Members have told me that they have found these resources to be beneficial,” she added.

Pelosi led the charge in the House impeaching Donald Trump for a second time for allegedly inciting the Capitol riots. A Senate impeachment trial has been scheduled to take place on February 8, and if he is impeached there, he will not be allowed to run for office again.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has described the Capitol riots as a “pretty traumatizing event,” going so far as to say that she thought she was “going to die” at one point. She has also indicated that she will be receiving counseling to deal with the trauma she supposedly suffered from during this event.

Pelosi Claims They’re Doing Work ‘For The People’

Pelosi concluded her letter with some encouraging words for her Democratic colleagues, claiming that the work that they are doing is “for the people.”

“As we continue our work For The People, we must do so prayerfully, solemnly and courageously,” wrote Pelosi.

“Let us draw faith and inspiration from the closing words of the poem that Amanda Gorman shared with the nation one week ago: ‘For there is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it, if only we’re brave enough to be it,'” she concluded.

Pelosi has previously said that she is “not worried” that impeaching Trump will undercut the message of unity that President Joe Biden claims to want to push.

“No, I’m not worried about that,” Pelosi said. “The fact is the president of the United States committed an act of incitement of insurrection. I don’t think it’s very unifying to say, ‘Oh, let’s just forget it and move on.’”

CNN’s Jake Tapper Accuses Republicans Of Trying To Remove Clinton For Lying But Not Trump For Inciting A ‘Terrorist Attack’

CNN’s Jake Tapper had a full meltdown on Tuesday about Senate Republicans voting that the impeachment trial against former President Donald Trump was unconstitutional, accusing them of having a “different standard” than they did with Bill Clinton.

Tapper Goes Off on Republicans

“It is just so strange because, look, I’m not a constitutional scholar,” Tapper said. “I don’t have an opinion on this, but a lot of people who are voting to not have any consequences for Donald Trump are doing so not because of constitutionality but because they don’t want to hold Donald Trump to any sort of standard, and they never have.”

“Some of these are the same people who are like vote to deny government assistance to somebody because they test positive for drugs,” he added. “They believe in consequences for everybody else but the president.”

“The outgoing president, former president, can literally incite an insurrection on the Capitol to hold on to power, to subvert democracy, and they don’t think there should be consequences,” Tapper continued.

Related: Combat Veteran And Double Amputee Rep Brian Mast Shreds Jake Tapper After CNN Anchor Questions His Patriotism

Tapper Doubles Down

Not stopping there, Tapper proceeded to double down with his unhinged attack on Republicans.

“So if they don’t believe that an impeachment trial is constitutional, you know, that’s obviously a legal position and legal argument, but if you don’t believe that, then what consequence?” he continued. “What consequence should there be? Or do you think that some people are just above the law?”

“I mean, should there be a criminal trial?” Tapper added. I mean, Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy, for that matter, have said that Donald Trump played a role in the terrorist attack. He played a role.”

“I mean, Bill Clinton lied under oath, and they thought that there needed to be— he needed to be removed from office for lying under oath,” the CNN host concluded. “Donald Trump incites a terrorist attack, and they have a different standard.”

No attack on Republicans is too below the belt for Tapper. Earlier this month, he said that “there are Republican members of Congress I know who clearly have lost their minds, who just will not accept reality when it comes to the facts about Donald Trump.”

Biden Set To Sign Another Far-Reaching ‘Climate Change’ Executive Order

President Joe Biden is set to sign another executive order that will address climate change and issues related to the environment, such as jobs, “equitable” clean energy, and “restoring” scientific integrity throughout the federal government.

These actions by the president will dovetail Biden’s previous executive orders on climate, which recommitted the United States to the Paris Climate Accords.

The order will also review of “harmful rollbacks and standards” that protect air, water, and will direct federal agencies to “eliminate fossil fuel subsidies as consistent with applicable law and identify new opportunities to spur innovation, commercialization, and deployment of clean energy technologies and infrastructure.”

Perhaps most drastic, the White House will establish that climate change will be an essential element of national security.

RELATED: Biden: Anyone Who Wants Vaccine Might Be Able To Get It By Spring

Biden Promised Cimate Change Action

During the 2020 campaign season, then-candidate Joe Biden called for the U.S. to phase out its dependence on fossil fuels.

Biden’s order on Wednesday is said to, “empower American workers and businesses to lead a clean energy revolution.” The goal would be to achieve a carbon pollution-free sector by 2035, and “an irreversible path to a net-zero economy by 2050.”

On the national security front, Biden had tapped former Secretary of State John Kerry to serve as “special envoy for climate” and even added him to the National Security Council.

Which ‘Build Back Better’ Jobs Are More Important?

The Biden administration insists that the new EO is “consistent with the goals of the President’s Build Back Better jobs and recovery plan” and that clean energy jobs are a “central pillar” of the plan.

But not everyone seems to be included in “Build Back Better.”

Guy Williams, who has worked in the energy industry for 53 years, found out that he would be unemployed by the cancellation of the Keystone XL Pipeline.

He told Fox News Channel’s Steve Doocy that, “It’s like a kick in the stomach that knocks the wind out of you.” Williams went on to say that, “We’ve waited on this pipeline for 10 years.”

The cancellation wiped out approximately 13,000 high paying union jobs in the United States and Canada.

The move brought sharp criticism from labor unions who heavily supported Biden in the presidential election.

A statement from the Laborers’ International Union of North America, or LIUNA, stated they were “disappointed” in Biden’s decision, and said that the move, “will kill thousands of good-paying #UNION jobs.” LIUNA had endorsed Biden in October.

The United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters stated that, “Sadly, the Biden administration has now put thousands of union workers out of work.”

RELATED: Earth To Joe Biden: Canceling Keystone XL Pipeline Is A Gift To China And Russia

Some Democrats Could Regret Climate Change Vote

Congress has also made moves to take action on climate change.

In the House last year, Democrats passed H.R.9, which would have required the U.S. to stick with the Paris Accords provisions.

In states where many jobs are dependent on oil and natural gas, several House seats may vulnerable and up for grabs in 2022 due to Biden’s executive order.

Fox reports that Republicans are already using it as a campaign strategy.

Among some of those who voted for H.R.9 are Rep. Abigail Spanberger of Virginia and Rep. Vincente Gonzalez of Texas. Both are Democrats and won re-election by less than 3%.

Other House members who voted for H.R.9 include Democrat Reps. Susan Wild, Conor Lamb, and Matt Cartwright, all from Pennsylvania.

In Texas, Democrat Reps. Henry Cuellar, Colin Allred, and Filemon Vela all voted in favor.

Any Democrats who might still appear moderate, such as West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, are being put in between what they know to be bad for their states, and having to draw ire from the left wing of their party.

AOC And The ‘Squad’ Pushing Biden Left On Climate

But Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and the rest of her ‘squad’ don’t seem to care about displaced union workers who helped Joe Biden to victory in November.

Prior to the election, she demanded that Biden approve the New Green Deal if elected.

“Climate is now a top-three issue for voters across the country and it is about time that our Congress and our administration starts acting like it”, she stated while addressing supporters outside of the DNC Headquarters. She went on to say, “It’s way past time.”

She has also gone on to give a pretty dire warning to the Biden administration to “keep their promise” on climate change issues.

Newest squad member Cori Bush (D-MO) also weighed in prior to her swearing in on the need for “bold leadership.”

“When we don’t act, people who look like me die. And so there is just no alternative right now than to make sure we have bold leadership,” Bush claimed.

Rubio Rips Impeachment – Says Trump Can Be Criminally Prosecuted As Private Citizen Instead

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) went on Fox News on Tuesday to say that he is against holding an impeachment trial against Donald Trump because the former president is now a private citizen, and can therefore be prosecuted in the criminal justice system.

Rubio Discusses Impeachment

Fox News host Neil Cavuto posed the question, “Do you think he provoked that crowd when he said, ‘These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide election victory is so unceremoniously & viciously stripped away from great patriots.’ Do you think he should be punished for those remarks?”

“Yeah, so if someone makes those remarks, he’s a private citizen,” Rubio replied. “So he’s now — the reason why we have impeachment is the following; you can’t charge a president.”

“So you have to remove them from office and then subject to criminal penalty,” he added. “That’s why Ford Pardoned Nixon because after he resigned, he could have still been prosecuted.”

“If he did something that rises to that level and that these folks so strongly believe, then the criminal justice system and the civil system is in place to pursue,” Rubio continued.

Rubio Places Some Blame On Trump For Capitol Riots

Cavuto responded by questioning if Trump’s comments were “incendiary enough.”

“I think there’s no doubt that the president bears some responsibility for what happened,” Rubio responded. “If he’s president of the United States, you can’t charge him criminally. You have to impeach him and remove them and then charge him criminally.”

“In this case, he’s a private citizen,” he added. “If he committed wrongdoing while he was president, the criminal justice system can deal with that. This is not the right use of Congress’ time. It’s vindictive. It’s about revenge.”

Rubio Says Impeaching Trump Would Be ‘Arrogant’

This came two days after Rubio said that it would be “arrogant” to impeach Trump just so that he can’t vote in the future.

“I think that’s an arrogant statement for anyone to make,” he said, according to Politico. “Voters get to decide that. Who are we to tell voters who they can vote for in the future?”

He added that the impeachment trial is “counterproductive” and will “continue to fuel these divisions that have paralyzed the country.”

“The first chance I get to vote to end this trial, I will do it, because I think it’s really bad for America,” he said.

Rubio followed through on Tuesday night by joining 44 other Republicans in voting against the impeachment trial, arguing that it is unconstitutional.

WH Press Secretary Jen Psaki: Even With Impeachment, Biden Can Reach ‘Unity’ With Trump Supporters

On Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told a reporter that President Joe Biden could still achieve “unity” with 74 million supporters of Donald Trump even while encouraging the Senate to move forward with an impeachment trial of the former president.

Ami magazine’s Jake Turx asked Psaki during the daily White House press briefing, “Does the president believe he can attain unity with the 74 million Trump voters while urging his allies in the Senate to hold an impeachment trial after his predecessor has already left office?”

Psaki responded, “Well, the president believes he was elected by 81 million Americans in part because they believed he was somebody who could help bring the country together, unify the country around addressing the crises we face.”

“And when he talks every day, nearly, about getting the pandemic under control, putting people back to work, he is not just speaking to people who voted for him,” she added.

Then Psaki addressed Biden’s approach to Trump supporters.

The press secretary said Biden, “is speaking to all of the American people, including the 74 million who didn’t vote for him.”

How many of those 74 million voters honestly feel like Biden is speaking for or looking out for them?

Psaki continued, “And certainly addressing the pandemic, making, insuring people that don’t worry about the health and safety of their grandparents, of their sisters and brothers, getting kids back to school — that is not a partisan position.”

Psaki Does Not Seem To See A Problem

She then insisted the president was standing up for all Americans.

“That is a leadership position, and one he’s taking because he wants to make sure he’s delivering for all the American people,” Psaki finished.

The Senate proceeded with impeachment plans on Tuesday after a motion by Sen. Rand Paul to dismiss the trial failed 55-45 with five Republicans crossing over to vote with the Democrats.

Paul had raised a point of order on the constitutionality of the trial, given that President Trump is already out of office and is now a private citizen.
