Sean Hannity Rips ‘Sanctimonious’ Mitch McConnell – Calls For New Leadership In The Senate

Fox News host Sean Hannity spoke out on Monday night to blast Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who he described as “sanctimonious” for giving a speech on the Senate floor over the weekend in which he condemned former President Donald Trump.

Hannity went so far as to suggest that it might be time to look into new leadership in the Senate.

Hannity Goes Off On GOP Leaders

“Voters in this country are smart, not stupid,” Hannity said. “We can see the snap impeachment was nothing but political theater, no due process, no evidence, no defense, none of it.”

“Now finding out it was all preplanned ahead of time and another needless smear that accomplished nothing,” the Fox News host added. “It’s been five years of this. They’ve also had it with Republicans and Democratic swamp creatures.”

“This is the question Republicans have to ask themselves tonight,” Hannity continued. “Where was John Thune and Mitch McConnell fighting against the biggest abuse of power corruption scandal in our history with Operation Crossfire Hurricane? They were missing in action.”

“Where’s the sanctimonious Mitch McConnell, John Thune, demanding that Kamala Harris, Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters— when is he going to give a speech on the Senate floor and hold those Democrats accountable for their incitement of insurrection and their insurrection-like language?” Hannnity concluded.

“The time is now coming for new leadership in the U.S. Senate,” he said. “We will be dealing with that.”

This comes after McConnell claimed that Trump had committed “a disgraceful dereliction of duty” by his actions before last month’s Capitol riot, and was “practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of that day.”

Graham Rips Into McConnell

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) ripped into McConnell for this anti-Trump speech, saying that he “put a load on the back of Republicans.”

“I think Senator McConnell’s speech, he got a load off a chest obviously, but unfortunately he put a load on the back of Republicans,” he added. “That speech you will see in 2022 campaigns.”

“I would imagine if you’re a Republican running in Arizona or  Georgia or New Hampshire, where we have a chance to take back the Senate, they may be playing Senator McConnell’s speech and asking about it as a candidate,” Graham continued.

“I imagine if you’re an incumbent Republican, they’re going to be people asking you will you support Senator McConnell in the future,” he concluded. “So I like them, Senator McConnell. He worked well with President Trump. I think his speech is an outlier regarding how Republicans feel about all this.”

Lindsey Graham Declares Lara Trump ‘Biggest Winner’ Of Impeachment Trial As He Backs Her For Senate

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) spoke out over the weekend to declare Lara Trump to be the “biggest winner” of impeachment trial as he threw his support behind her for Senate in North Carolina. Republican Senate candidate Mark Walker of North Carolina, however, is already pushing back against Graham on this.

Graham Praises Lara Trump

While appearing on Fox News on Sunday, Graham said that the decision of retiring GOP Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina to vote in favor of convicting former President Donald Trump in his impeachment trial makes Lara a shoe-in to win the 2022 Republican nomination to succeed Burr.

“The biggest winner of this whole impeachment trial I think is Lara Trump,” Graham said.

“My dear friend Richard Burr, who I like and I’ve been friends to a long time, just made Lara Trump almost the certain nominee for the Senate seat in North Carolina to replace him if she runs, and I certainly would be behind her because I think she represents the future of the Republican Party,” he added.

Walker Fires Back

Walker, the only major Republican to officially jump into this race so far, fired back on Monday morning in an interview with Fox Business.

“In the words of I believe it was John Ashcroft, Lindsey is always confident but not always right,” he said. He went on to claim that he is not paying attention to other potentially candidates who may jump into this race, which is likely to be hotly contested.

“We can’t control what anyone else is doing,” Walker said. “This is something we’re focused on because it’s in our heart to do, service has been part of our life for nearly a quarter century and we’re going to continue to do so.”

Former RNC Spokesman Speaks Out

Doug Heye, a former Republican National Committee spokesman and a North Carolina native who previously worked for Burr, also took issue with what Graham said.

“I don’t see how Saturday’s vote affect that at all,” Heye said. “You’ve got to do some crazy kind of algebra and cheating your math to get that.”

He added that Lara “could raise a ton of money” if she ran, but he questioned if she’ll actually launch a campaign.

Lindsey Graham Says Mitch McConnell’s Anti-Trump Speech May Come Back To Bite Republicans

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) went on Fox News on Sunday to say that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) post-impeachment speech in which he condemned President Donald Trump may come back to haunt Republicans.

Graham went so far as to say that with this speech, McConnell “put a load on the back of Republicans.”

McConnell’s Anti-Trump Speech

This came one day after McConnell claimed that Trump had committed “a disgraceful dereliction of duty” by his actions before last month’s Capitol riot, and was “practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of that day.”

While interviewing Graham, Fox News host Chris Wallace said, “Let me ask you about one person that he might be mad at and tell me if he is or he isn’t, Mitch McConnell, who made a curious speech yesterday in which he basically said the president is guilty, but that the Senate doesn’t have the power to convict, to act against a former president.”

“What did he think of McConnell’s speech, what did you think of McConnell’s speech?” he added.

Graham Responds

“Well, number one, I was a bit surprised, but I heard this in 1998. I’ve been in three of the four impeachments,” Graham replied.

“I’m sorry about that. The bottom line — in 1998, you had a lot of Democrats acquit Clinton but got on the floor and said how bad he was,” he said. “You know, Nancy Pelosi called us all cowards. I don’t think most Republicans care what she thinks.”

“I think Senator McConnell’s speech, he got a load off a chest obviously, but unfortunately he put a load on the back of Republicans,” he added. “That speech you will see in 2022 campaigns.”

“I imagine if you’re an incumbent Republican, they’re going to be people asking you will you support Senator McConnell in the future,” he concluded. “So I like them, Senator McConnell. Ana Navarro Says Republican Senators Who Acquit Trump ‘Like Cult Members’ Will ‘Be Maligned By History’

On Friday’s episode of “The View,” cohost Ana Navarro unravelled as she nonsensically claimed that Republican senators who voted to acquit former President Donald Trump in his second impeachment trial “are going to be maligned in history.”

Apparently Navarro has a crystal ball, because she thinks she can see the future.

Navarro Speaks Out

“Then we heard that there’s three of them, Cruz, Hawley and Lindsey Graham, meeting with the defense lawyers,” she said.

“That’s not what an impartial juror is supposed to do. I was so shaken by the videos, and I just can’t explain to myself how somebody, you know, if it shakes us watching it, how somebody who actually lived through that could then go back just a few hours later that same day and vote to continue confirming Trump’s lies, as 150 Republicans between the House and the Senate did that same day, you know, that evening of January 6th,” Navarro continued.

“What we’re talking about here is we’re not talking about removing him,” she added. “We’re not talking about sending Trump to jail. We’re not talking about taking away his property. This trial is about setting the record of history straight and setting a precedent, and making sure that this does not happen again.”

Navarro Doubles Down

“So if they lived through what we just saw, if they just saw how close they came to being, you know, harmed, to being actually harmed, we saw them running, we saw them running in fear, these senators, and they’re still going to go and act like cult members and not vote to set the record straight for history?” Navarro continued.

“They are going to be maligned in history. We will be studying this for decades, and people are going to know that they are cowards, cowards, cowards,” she concluded.

Navarro is a woman who claims to be a former Republican, despite seemingly to never say anything that sounds like it comes from anyone who was ever a conservative in their life.

She’s made a living off of insulting Trump for the last four years, and judging by her comments today, she has no intention of stopping anytime soon.

Nikki Haley Turns On Trump – ‘We Need To Acknowledge He Let Us Down’

In an interview on Fridayformer U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley came out of the box criticizing former President Donald Trump.

Her forceful comments, come in the wake of the Jan. 6 Capitol Hill riot, and also as Trump’s defense attorneys prepare to present their case in Trump’s second impeachment trial.

“We need to acknowledge he let us down,” she told Politico. “He went down a path he shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t have followed him, and we shouldn’t have listened to him. And we can’t ever let that happen again.”

Haley, who is also the former governor of South Carolina, expressed anger over the harsh treatment she felt that former Vice President Mike Pence received at the hands of Trump.

“When I tell you I’m angry about it that’s an understatement,” she said. “I’m so disappointed in the fact that [despite] the loyalty and friendship he had with Mike Pence, that he would do that to him. Like, I’m disgusted by it.”

 GOP Swamp Dwellers Uniting

There are many who speculate that Nikki Haley is a strong contender for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024. However, she is also one of many so-called “establishment” Republicans who once backed Donald Trump, but are now are turning against him.

There have been many other high-profile Republicans who have come out and harshly criticized Trump for Capitol riot and have gone on to distance themselves from him.

But in doing that, are they distancing themselves from 75 million people who cast their vote for Trump just a few short months ago by essentially telling those people they were wrong to support him?

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) cozied up to Trump when he was talked about as a possible Secretary of State. Then Trump chose someone else, and Romney has criticized him at every turn since.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), on a recent appearance on Fox News Sunday, when speaking of Trump stated that, “that is a person who does not have a role as the leader of our party going forward.”

Will There Be A “New” Republican Party In 2024?

Nikki Haley may have presidential aspirations, but will the GOP be a different party in four years?

In her Politico interview,  she said, “I know how much people love Donald Trump. I know. I feel it. Whether it’s an RNC room, or social media or talking to donors, I can tell you that the love they have for him is still very strong. That’s not just going to fall by the wayside.”

However, she also said, “Nor do I think the Republican Party is going to go back to the way it was before Donald Trump. I don’t think it should.”

But does she really think that? Does the establishment think they can override the will of 75 million Trump supporters and take the party back to the way it was pre-Trump? Many would argue that those 75 million people really want to do is purge the Republican party of squishy RINO’s and swamp creatures.

Haley states that, “what we need to do is take the good that he built, leave the bad that he did, and get back to a place where we can be a good, valuable, effective party. But at the same time, it’s bigger than the party.”

Nikki Haley Before The Riot And Nikki Haley After The Riot

Nikki Haley’s establishment status as a squishy Republican who sides one way then another is not something she will be able to hide from American voters. In a report from Axios, prior to January 6, Haley stated that she genuinely believed that Trump believed he was wronged.

She defended his refusal not to concede to Joe Biden, but said that she felt that his lawyers did him a “disservice by not telling him the truth of his loss.”

She equated Trump’s feeling of false election claims to being colorblind.

“That would be like you saying that the grass is blue and you genuinely believing it,” she explained. “Is it irresponsible that you’re colorblind and you truly believe that?”

Haley added that there was nothing anyone could do to make Trump believe that he legitimately lost the election.

After January 6, her positions seem to have changed. She says that we should have not followed him down the path we did, and she spoke of Trump’s treatment of Mike Pence, saying that the former president has lost “any political viability he was going to have.”

Haley also said she did not think Trump will run again. “I don’t think he can. He’s fallen so far.” This might be news to Haley and other RINO’s, but that is not certain.

Politico reporter Tim Alberta stated, “I’ve also spoken with nearly 70 people who know her: friends, associates, donors, staffers, former colleagues. From those conversations, two things are clear. First, Nikki Haley is going to run for president in 2024. Second, she doesn’t know which Nikki Haley will be on the ballot.”

If Nikki Haley doesn’t know who is on the ballot, then voters don’t know who is on the ballot.

In the end, it’s clear that Haley is just the latest in a line of RINOS that think they have a chance of running for anything if they now distance themselves from Trump. She may soon find out how wrong she is about this.

Lindsey Graham Predicts ‘Not Guilty’ Impeachment Votes Are Growing After ‘Absurd’ Arguments From Democrats

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) went on Fox News on Wednesday night to tell host Sean Hannity that he believes that “not guilty” votes are growing in former President Donald Trump’s Senate impeachment trial.

Graham went on to explain that this was due to House impeachment managers floating the “absurd” conspiracy theory that the riots were planned by Trump.

He then accused Democrats of failing to investigate their impeachment claims thoroughly enough before moving forward with it, which is why their “incitement claim is falling apart, and they’ve had to come up with a new “cockamamie” theory.

Graham Says ‘Not Guilty’ Votes Are Growing

“Let me tell your viewers: the “not guilty” vote is growing after today,” Graham said. “I think most Republicans found the presentation by the House managers offensive and absurd.”

After admitting what happened at the Capitol was terrible, Graham went on to say, “I don’t remember any of the House managers saying a damn thing when they were trying to break into my house and going after [Republican Senator] Susan Collins [of Maine] and spitting on all of us.”

“If this is a problem for a politician to give the speech that President Trump did, well, then [Vice President] Kamala Harris has a real problem, because she actively engaged in bailing out rioters,” he added.

“And here is what I would suggest. if you are a politician trying to raise bail for people accused of rioting, you are inciting more riots,” the Senator said.

Graham Says Impeachment Argument Has Fallen Apart

Graham went on to discuss just how much Democrats’ impeachment argument has fallen apart.

“If there was preplanning, there was no incitement,” he said.

“The managers have got this cockamamie idea absurd theory that Donald Trump was monitoring the Proud Boys’ website, and other far right websites, and that he and [former White House social media manager] Dan Scavino knew this was going to happen and they encouraged it,” Graham continued. “That is Looney Tunes.”

“And you know why they are saying that? Because if the president didn’t know, and it was actually preplanned, he is not guilty,” Graham added.

“So for the first time today, they are trying to create a storyline that Donald Trump was in on it before it happened, that he was monitoring the proud boys and other crazy websites and he knew they were come to Washington with violence on their mind, and he encouraged it,” he said.

“That beyond bizarre,” Graham continued. “This is not evidence. This is a liberal democratic novel being presented as evidence.”

Graham Wants To Know What Pelosi Knew

After saying that he would like to know how much Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) knew about the riots in advance, Graham concluded by saying, “This is why you don’t want to have snap impeachments. Evidence really does matter.”

Joy Behar Says GOP Senators Wouldn’t Vote To Impeach Trump ‘Even If He Threw Them Off A Roof’

Joy Behar came unglued on Tuesday’s episode of “The View” as she talked about what she feels the outcome of former President Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial will be.

Behar Attacks Republicans Over Impeachment

“No one is changing their mind. These Republicans would not vote against Donald Trump even if he threw them off of a roof. Literally threw them off a roof!” Behar exclaimed, specifically calling out Senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Rand Paul (R-KY) in her comments.

“They’d be going down, down, down yelling ‘the wind! It was the wind!’ There’s no way to get around this with these people,” she added. “They do not want to go back to their other jobs, and that’s where they’re at.”

Behar’s cohost Sunny Hostin agreed, saying that “Republicans would really be out of step with a majority of Americans if they don’t vote for conviction. We know that 60% of Americans want a conviction of Donald Trump, 58% want Donald Trump to be barred from ever holding office again.”

Meghan McCain Agrees

Democrats are trying to impeach Trump for allegedly inciting the Capitol riots last month. Conservative “The View” host Meghan McCain said that she supports impeachment, adding that there need to be “ramifications” for what Trump did.

“I’m for impeachment, I made that very clear on the show,” said McCain said.

“Politically, Republicans are betting on the fact that impeachment was so unpopular last time around and the American public is going to be focused on COVID-19 and the economy and moving forward and, you know, trying to heal our country in all forms,” she added. “So it will be interesting to see how politically this plays out.”

Attacking Trump is a favorite pastime of Behar’s and her fellow “The View” cohosts. Back in December, she went so far as to claim that Trump “made it his business for four years to rape this country.”

“Joe Biden has already done a couple of things by going back into the Paris agreement and by canceling the Keystone pipeline. He has other things on his agenda that he is going to do to fix the environment,” Behar said

“This man, this Trump, he made it his business for four years to rape this country,” she added. “It’s disgusting, and I’m so happy to have somebody who cares about the children back.”

Lindsey Graham Rips Impeachment – ‘We’re Doing A Lot Of Damage To The Country Because People Hate Trump’

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) spoke out on Monday night to rip into Democrats for their impeachment effort against former President Donald Trump.

Graham Rips Democrats Over Impeachment

While appearing on “Hannity” on Fox News, Graham complained about having to participate in the impeachment trial at all.

“I got to listen to this crap,” Graham said. “So, I hope by Sunday or Monday, the trial will be over. Here’s what I can tell you — if the House managers want to call one witness, the defense is going to call all the people you named and then some.”

“To my colleagues tomorrow, there are a hundred of us, what we do today is going to make history of the time America exists,” he added. “What Democrats have done is basically declared war on the presidency itself. The impeachment in House took place without a hearing, without one witness being called, and without a lawyer for the president of the United States.”

“You can’t get a traffic ticket based on the producers they used to impeach President Trump,” Graham continued. “And we’re also impeaching a man who’s out of office. When you combine a snap impeachment with an impeachment of a president who’s out of office, you’re going to destroy the presidency itself.”

“I know you hate Trump but please, pull back before we set in motion this destruction of the presidency by never-ending impeachments based on lack of due process and political retribution as the motive,” he said.

Related: Lindsey Graham Teaming With Dick Durbin To Introduce Legislation That Could Grant Citizenship To DREAMers

Graham Doubles Down

Not stopping there, Graham went on to argue that in impeaching a former president, the Democrat-controlled Congress was creating a new precedent.

“I think you’ll see statements by politicians that are more insightful than what President Trump said,” he predicted. “But when the Founders created impeachment for the president, it was different than for judges and anybody else. It requires that the chief justice of the United States to preside over presidential impeachments. Why? Because you don’t want a juror preceding over the impeachment of a presidential officeholder.”

“So the idea that the president is treated differently under the Constitution makes perfect sense,” Graham said. “They never envisioned going after the president once he’s out of office because the purpose for impeachment is to remove the person, not bar them from running in the future.”

“So, the whole point of impeachment is lost when the person is no longer in office,” Graham continued. “They didn’t go after Nixon when he resigned for a reason. So to my colleagues here, you’re about to set in motion a historical precedent that will put at risk every future president.”

“You could be impeached in the future based on hatred, 50 hours no witness, no hearing, no lawyer,” he concluded. “You can be impeached after you leave office. George Washington, under this theory, can be impeached for owning slaves. We’re doing a lot of damage to the country because people hate Trump. Knock it off.”

Democrats Demand Trump Testify At Senate Impeachment Trial

House impeachment managers sent a letter to Donald Trump strongly suggesting the former president testify at the Senate impeachment trial.

The trial, slated to begin on Tuesday of next week, involves a charge from the House that Trump incited a mob of supporters who stormed the Capitol on January 6th.

A formal response from Trump’s lawyers “denied” that he “ever engaged in a violation of his oath of office,” and instead he, “at all times acted to the best of his ability to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

Lead impeachment manager Jamie Raskin (D-MD) essentially defied Trump to prove his innocence in his own words.

“In light of your disputing these factual allegations, I write to invite you to provide testimony under oath, either before or during the Senate impeachment trial, concerning your conduct on January 6, 2021,” Raskin wrote.

The Democrat then argued that not testifying would be used against him.

“If you decline this invitation, we reserve any and all rights, including the right to establish at trial that your refusal to testify supports a strong adverse inference regarding your actions (and inaction) on January 6, 2021,” added Raskin.

Lindsey Graham – Not Likely Trump Will Testify at Impeachment Trial

Forbes reporter Andrew Solender tweeted a response from Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) in which he dismissed Raskin’s demand as little more than a “political ploy.”

“I don’t think that would be in anybody’s interest,” Graham said according to Solender, adding that it would be a “nightmare for the country.”

“This is just a political showboat move. They didn’t call him in the House,” Graham pointed out.

Raskin’s letter attempts to argue that there is precedent for Presidents testifying at their impeachment trial.

“Presidents Gerald Ford and Bill Clinton both provided testimony while in office—and the Supreme Court held just last year that you were not immune from legal process while serving as President—so there is no doubt that you can testify in these proceedings,” he said.

Raskin is seemingly unaware that Trump is no longer the President.

Solender reports that Graham spoke to the former President a couple of days ago and he’s in “pretty good spirits, trying to get adjusted to his new life.”

RELATED: Maxine Waters Wants Trump Charged With ‘Premeditated Murder’

A Political Ploy

Raskin’s letter is rich, not only with political ploys but with irony. Tremendously thick irony, at that.

The Maryland Democrat is “guilty” of the very same thing he is tasked with proving is a high crime and misdemeanor in Trump’s impeachment trial.

Raskin objected to the certification of Florida’s electoral votes in 2017. In fact, House Democrats tried objecting to the certification of electoral votes for Donald Trump that year on 11 separate occasions.

One could argue, using the Democrat party’s own standard today, that the constant insistence that Trump didn’t really win the election in 2016 led to an incitement of violence on inauguration day.

House managers do not have independent authority to subpoena Trump so they must invite him to make his case.

The Senate, according to the New York Post, could subpoena him with a simple majority.
