McConnell rewrites history to blame massive fail on coronavirus on (checks notes) impeachment

Sen. “Moscow” Mitch McConnell went on the Hugh Hewitt radio show Tuesday, as he often does when he wants to be especially awful. He was exceptionally awful in all the most predictable ways: blaming the crisis we're in right now on impeachment—because of course he did—and rewriting all of the last three months of history while doing it.

The slow response by President Donald Trump and Congress to the COVID-19 crisis, McConnell said, was because the impeachment "diverted the attention of the government." Except that's total bunk. The Senate was still functioning while the impeachment trial was going forward during the last week in January, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was confirming the initial cases in the U.S. The business of the Senate included a Jan. 24 all-senators briefing on coronavirus with Trump health officials, including the CDC director and Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. You remember that meeting, right? That's the one that happened just before three Senate Republicans dumped millions’ worth of stocks, collectively. That's the action they decided to take when confronted with the calamity that had hit our shores.

Enough of this. Please give $1 to our nominee fund to help Democrats and end McConnell's career as majority leader.

In fact, Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley, who had received additional briefings, blew off the warnings. "The coronavirus doesn’t appear to pose any imminent threat to Americans who have not recently traveled to the Hubei province of China," he said. "For now, the Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control have the resources needed to prevent any significant contagion from spreading into the United States. If more resources are needed, Congress stands at the ready." He came to that conclusion on Feb. 4, the day before the Senate voted against the impeachment charges against Trump.

Continuing on with the rewriting of history in the Hewitt interview, McConnell gave credit to Arkansas Republican Sen. Tom Cotton for being "first" to warn of the dangers of coronavirus. "He was first. I think Tom was right on the mark." Right on the mark meaning spouting bigoted and dangerous conspiracy theories about how the virus might have been (wink, wink) a chemical weapon developed in "China's only biosafety level 4 super laboratory that researches human infectious diseases." Sure Mitch, you go ahead with the idea of Cotton being the big epidemiological brain in the Senate GOP.

Because it's Mitch, there's more. More typical Republican denial of the breadth and depth of this crisis, and how it's affecting real people. "I'm not going to allow this to be an opportunity for the Democrats to achieve unrelated policy items they wouldn't otherwise be able to pass," he sniffed, dismissing the necessity for further action by Congress to save the whole damned country. No, he's got his eyes on his true prize.

When the Senate gets back, it will "go back to judges. […] My motto for the rest of the year is to leave no vacancy behind."

The Country Should Be Pulling Together Right Now – But Then Again, We Have Democrats And The Media

The radical press and Nancy Pelosi are both complicit in lying to the American people with their misleading statements and actions that are not related to President Trump in any way.

DISHONESTY OF THE MEDIA

If the ignorant press would look into who is directly (not indirectly) responsible for the safety of the American people, it is the state governors who are on the front lines. Trump can only provide national support, like restricting flights, releasing the military, and forcing the production of needed supplies.

MORE NEWS: Gingrich: Coronavirus Pandemic Is ‘A Global Problem Caused By The Chinese’

The governors are those who direct what their state’s people are to do and how to do it. I am tired of everything being blamed on Trump when it is not up to the President to make those decisions. Did Trump delay action in New York City on telling people not to congregate in groups? No, it was the city’s health commissioner advising just the opposite and Mayor Bill de Blasio not making any directives until well after it was a huge problem. That was not Trump’s fault.

DEMS HAVE BEEN ON THE WRONG SIDE SINCE BEGINNING

Let’s look back at everyone’s comments three or four weeks ago. Democrats did not want Trump to ban travel from China. Do I “blame” them for that? No. They did not have ESP. However, for them to turn around and expect the President or any politician to have the same ESP they didn’t have is disingenuous. Anyone who does not rally behind the President who represents our country at this time of crisis is not patriotic. Quit criticizing and taking political shots. It shows ignorance, hatred, and a lack of patriotism.

The Democrats in Congress and the Senate, along with their friends in the media, need to be held accountable for disregarding the safety of our country for the last three years, to set up the Russia collusion hoax, the Ukraine impeachment hoax and any little thing to stop the progress of fixing this country after Barack Obama. They interrupted any and all activities in Washington, just to reverse the 2016 elections.

MORE NEWS: President Trump Has Done The Right Things To Combat Coronavirus From Day One

AMERICAN DYING

People were dying while Pelosi was messing around with impeachment. People were dying while Pelosi was sneaking in funding for the Kennedy Center and other projects unrelated to these same people she talks about. She only needs to look at herself to see who is fiddling.

As more people become ill, each country’s health care systems will be pushed to the brink to treat an increasing number of patients. Under President Trump’s leadership, the United States is helping its citizens and small businesses with a $2 trillion rescue package. Our President also made the right call by shutting down all passenger air traffic with China and Europe, and fast-tracking desperately needed medical equipment and supplies to critical hotspots like New York. He has the right team in place to see us through this crisis.

NEGATIVITY IS NOT CONSTRUCTIVE

The only way Mr. Trump, or any other heads of state, could have reacted better would have required them to be able to predict the unpredictable, to be prepared for the unpreparable. This is a WORLDWIDE pandemic. The spread in our country was unavoidable. We were under attack before we knew there was an attack before we knew what the enemy was. 20/20 hindsight and arguing about would have, could have, should have is not constructive. The only way to defeat this enemy is for EVERYONE to do their part and stay focused on that victory. The safety of others depends on YOU.

MORE NEWS: It’s Time To Remove Pelosi From Congress So This Country Can Move Forward

I can only speak for myself, but nobody is wholly prepared for something like this to happen. Frankly, I think Trump has done an excellent job of trying to minimize the fear-mongering the media has put out there. It’s not up to the government to save people; it’s mostly up to the people themselves.

They say you tell a lot about a person by how they behave during a crisis. How will Pelosi and the MSM be remembered after we get through this one? Just remember when a liberal blames somebody else, it is the liberal who is more guilty of that thing.

NBC’s Chuck Todd Asks Biden If Trump ‘Has Blood On His Hands’

Anyone can see the media’s attacks on the president every day during the virus briefings. The president is good at shooting them down in flames. But when he’s not there to defend himself, political cowards like NBC’s Chuck Todd try to get away with a lot.

During Sunday’s Meet the Press Todd tried a move on Joe Biden. To Biden’s minor credit he did not rise to the total bait.

Todd asked Biden, concerning the virus, “Do you think there is blood on the president’s hands considering the slow response? Or is that too harsh of a criticism?”

Biden responded that it was “a little too harsh.” A little, Joe? Yeah, and the Pacific is “a little” deep.

Certain of Todd’s fellow media members quickly took him to task for the question, “Tim Russert would never ask a question like this. Even Joe Biden didn’t take the bait to assist in a viral moment attempt,” said The Hill media reporter Joe Concha.

Concha also said: “Chuck Todd served as a moderator of an NBC News debate on Feb 19, which was more than two weeks after President Trump suspended travel from China. Number of questions Todd asked any of the candidates about Coronavirus? Zero.”

The media has not realized the ground has shifted under them. They live in what they think were their glory days of the Mueller probe and impeachment hearings, before it all came crashing down around them.

Like a sad piano player in a seedy bar, the media knows only that one tune and they play it over and over again, regardless of what any customer may want to hear.

America is far past that and lives in the here and now of a national crisis. Telling blatant lies, as is always expected of Todd, was previously shrugged off by many as par for the course for the mainstream media.

In the present we are dealing with life and death on a daily basis. But Todd doesn’t see that. He only sees his rancid brand of politics. As such, one day in the not too distant future, he may be called to account by viewers for his words of today.

Maxine Waters Accuses Trump Of Lying, Ignoring Early Warnings On Coronavirus

Rep. Maxine Waters accused President Trump of ignoring early coronavirus warnings and suggested he’s “gotten away with a lot of lying.”

The fact that the first part of that sentence is a complete lie is an irony that apparently escapes the California Democrat.

“The early notifications I’m told were ignored,” Waters said during a weekend interview with MSNBC.

Accuses Trump of Lying

Waters then accused the President of lying regarding his implementation of the Defense Production Act.

“I know that the president has gotten away with a lot of lying about what is going to happen with the Defense Act, and he said that he was going to, first of all, invoke it. He did not,” she claimed.

“He waited until the heat was on him, and then he lied on some of the big businesses that he said he had an agreement with that he really didn’t have.”

These are the same people who couldn’t stomach the thought of the President invoking various war powers acts for the last three years, now demanding he does just that.

Trump invoked the Defense Production Act on Friday, compelling General Motors to start making ventilators.

Shut His Mouth

Waters’ comments are in line with those she made weeks ago when she called the President of the United States a “liar” and suggested he should shut his mouth on the coronavirus crisis.

“It’s been said over and over again that you cannot trust this president. Not only is he a liar, he does not believe in anything scientific,” she claimed without evidence. “So the President of the United States cannot be relied upon. Someone said he needs to be quiet, he needs to shut his mouth.”

First, she says he needs to keep his mouth shut, then complains that he hasn’t said or done enough.

Maxine Is Lying

It’s never a good idea to accuse somebody of lying while simultaneously doing the same thing.

As we’ve noted, Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has repeatedly credited President Trump with saving countless lives through swift action at the very beginning.

Travel restrictions implemented by the administration in late January helped limit the spread of the virus.

What were Waters and her fellow Democrats focused on at that time? The impeachment sham.

Aside from that, she also blamed President Trump for a lack of respirators.

The reality, however, is that it was the Obama-Biden administration that failed to replenish those supplies.

In 2009, the H1N1 swine flu pandemic triggered a massive deployment of respirators and masks.

But the Obama administration never set about replenishing the stockpile, despite warnings from multiple experts and a 2010 report funded by the federal government recommending the repository of masks be restocked for a future pandemic.

“In hindsight, it appears to be shortsighted,” said the senior director of public health preparedness for the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials.

Waters is the very definition of short-sighted.

Trump Calls Nancy Pelosi A ‘Sick Puppy’ After She Blames Him For Coronavirus Deaths

President Donald Trump slammed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as a “sick puppy” following comments she made suggesting his actions in dealing with the coronavirus crisis have been “deadly.”

The President responded to Pelosi’s attack during a phone interview with Fox & Friends Monday morning.

“She’s got a lot of problems and that’s a horrible thing to say,” Trump fumed, before noting that it was his actions very early on that saved lives.

“I stopped some very, very infected, very, very sick people, thousands coming in from China, long earlier than anybody thought, including the experts, nobody thought we should do it except me,” he insisted.

Sick Puppy

Pelosi, in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper this weekend, compared President Trump to the Roman Emperor Nero and implied that Democrats might embark on another investigation of his actions.

“What did he know and when did he know it?” Pelosi asked. “That’s for an after-action review. But as the president fiddles, people are dying.”

She also suggested, despite evidence to the contrary, that Trump’s “denial at the beginning, was deadly.”

Trump on Monday said, “She’s a sick puppy in my opinion.”

Trump Unloads

The President responded to the suggestion that an investigation might be forthcoming by reminding viewers that Democrats were focusing on the impeachment sham when word of the coronavirus spreading to the United States was starting to hit.

“There’s something wrong with the woman,” he understated. “She focused on impeachment, and she lost, and she looked like a fool.”

Trump concluded by insinuating Pelosi is “a disgrace to her country [and] her family.”

Trump Saved Lives

During the Fox & Friends interview, President Trump pointed out that Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has repeatedly credited him with saving countless lives through swift action.

One of the key actions necessary to control the spread of the virus, Fauci explained, is to “contain the influx of people who are infected coming from the outside.”

Dr. Ronny Jackson, former lead White House doctor appointed by Barack Obama, has made similar comments that refute Pelosi’s blame game claims.

The President’s actions, he concluded, are “going to save countless American lives.”

President Trump Has Done The Right Things To Combat Coronavirus From Day One

President Donald Trump’s critics keep trying to downplay his extraordinary measures to curtail the spread of the coronavirus in the United States, but the fact is that he has been thinking ahead of everybody when it comes to the pandemic response.

I can’t overstate how important it was that President Trump shut down travel from China, and then Europe, as soon as he did. Without those travel restrictions, we would have had a much larger, much more widespread problem to deal with. As we’ve seen in countries such as Italy and Iran who failed on this measure, limiting exposure to infected individuals in the early stages is crucial to minimizing the eventual extent of the outbreak.

Yet, rather than commending the president for his foresight, the news media attack him as a “racist” for publicly acknowledging that the pandemic originated in China. What is next? Are we to rename Chinese restaurants because it’s “racist” to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and its communist government?

In January, President Trump also assembled a top-notch coronavirus task force composed of world-class health and public policy experts who have patiently guided the public through the crisis and are working closely with businesses and the leaders of state and local governments to devise both mitigation strategies and long-term solutions. This complex tapestry of private/corporate/government/military cooperation has never been done before—we will see it pay off for the American people.

Yes, there was intelligence being provided to the White House and the administration in January and February—many of us, inside and outside of the administration, were reviewing and evaluating this information as national security professionals while the mainstream media and political Left focused on impeachment. We were trying to ascertain the facts and realities regarding the Chinese coronavirus threat to prepare —not panic— the nation.

Unfortunately, as some of those very experts have pointed out, our country’s efforts to combat the coronavirus have been hampered by the poor decisions of previous administrations, which left us ill-equipped to respond to the type of threat we face today.

There was a critical blind spot in our initial assessment, a blind spot that exists to this very day—the Chinese government. Because of the Chinese Communist Party’s stonewalling and deception regarding Wuhan and the scope of the outbreak, and our lack of independent “biological surveillance” capabilities, the assessment was hampered.

The Obama administration was similarly short-sighted when it came to employing big data techniques to conduct global disease surveillance. While the White House did make some half-hearted efforts to develop a domestic biological surveillance program, Obama’s team ultimately deferred to the World Health Organization’s system, which has repeatedly fallen short due to inadequate reporting compliance on the part of countries such as China. This lack of independent biological surveillance by the U.S. intelligence community is an issue that must be fixed to detect new outbreaks early.

Our ability to conduct an aggressive response was also hampered by another Obama administration neglect. In response to the first outbreaks of Ebola virus in the late-1970s, the U.S. government created the Aeromedical Isolation and Special Medical Augmentation Response Team (AIT-SMART) in 1978 to safely evacuate highly contagious U.S. patients out of outbreak areas. The transport team would take the patients to a Medical Containment Suite, where they could receive intensive care while remaining under the most stringent biosafety protocols, known as Biosafety Level 4. Through comprehensive planning and intensive training, the AIT-SMART teams became adept at repatriating infected Americans without exposing other citizens to the risk of contagion.

In 2010, however, this critical capability was lost when AIT-SMART fell victim to the Obama-era “sequestration” cuts. It almost felt like nature was warning us of our folly four years later, when a new outbreak of Ebola nearly spread to American communities because we lacked the expertise to safely repatriate infected Americans from the hot zone.

Another key fact that has been lost by the U.S. media is this: President Trump realized shortly after his election that the country’s ability to rapidly produce a vaccine was a critical part of national defense neglected by the Obama administration. He consequently launched a multi-year effort to develop the latest cell culture-based technology for vaccine manufacturing on U.S. soil, most particularly for influenza and emerging disease agents like the coronavirus. This capacity continues to grow after years of neglect.

President Trump’s calm and confident demeanor when he updates the country about our effort to fight the coronavirus is only possible because he took the threat seriously from the very beginning. As a leader, he has to take practical steps to stop the virus and mitigate the damage it causes to our economy, but he also has to offer moral leadership to sustain morale as he asks the American people to make necessary sacrifices for the common good.

Indeed, the president’s message becomes more positive with each press briefing he gives—and with good reason. With each passing day, we increase the arsenal of weapons available to fight the coronavirus, and understand better how to deploy them.

Even some of Donald Trump’s most stalwart critics, such as Democrat Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar, have gushed about how “incredible” his response to the pandemic has been.

To quote the president, when this is all over, “we’re gonna say, well, we won. I think we’re gonna win faster than people think. I hope.” So do I, Mr. President; and so, I’m sure, does every American. If we do prevail rapidly, it will be due entirely to President Trump’s ability to overcome the institutional handicaps left for him to overcome.

It’s Time To Remove Pelosi From Congress So This Country Can Move Forward

On Sunday, during an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (because I refuse to call her Speaker of the House) sharpened her criticism of President Trump’s early dismissal of the coronavirus, saying the delay cost American lives.

Pelosi said that “His denial at the beginning was deadly.”

OF COURSE, PELOSI IS GOING TO TAKE THIS APPROACH

That’s really what Democrats did and as usual, she’s blaming Trump for something she’s guilty of. Where was she at the beginning? I mean the district she governs, is in the worst shape of all, so she has to blame someone else causes hey elections are coming.

I don’t have to say how much more ignorant it is to use this virus and the deaths of Americans as a political weapon. I think if someone looks in the right place and asks the right questions, you’re going to find an ugly truth about what was really behind this virus pandemic starting and whose responsible.

WHAT HAS PELOSI DONE DURING THIS CRISIS?

Zip, she has done absolutely nothing but rips Trump, scare and divide Americans. Even when Trump banned travel from China – Pelosi blasted Trump for over-reacting. Now All health experts agree that the travel ban saves thousands of US lives.

Who was it that held up the relief bill to add emissions standards for aircraft, solar panel credits, amnesty for illegals and a bunch of other non-essential items that push their agenda? It seems to me, holding the American voter hostage for your party’s program is irresponsible and callus.

LET’S NOT FORGET JANUARY – MARCH

Let’s dig a little deeper. While this was going on in January and early February, what was Congress doing? Hmmm. Oh, they were impeaching Trump. AMERICA SIDES WITH TRUMP

If I remember right, the latest Gallup poll shows that 60% of Americans approve of the president’s handle of the pandemic. Maybe it is Pelosi that is trying to deflect wasting time on impeachment, adding to non-health related items to the latest CO-VID bill, etc. Well, you get the idea.

President Trump could come up with a cure for this virus and Pelosi would complain he was trying to put the pharmaceutical companies out of business. Trump is doing a great job dealing with this crisis.

How Donald Trump could use his coronavirus disaster to win reelection this November

In today’s absurd news, there’s this:

#BREAKING Global News Exclusive: Trump looking to put troops near Canadian border amid coronavirus fears - National | https://t.co/RD1lLNARNe https://t.co/oNU25op63U @globalnews #cdnpoli #coronavirus #COVID19

— Mercedes Stephenson (@MercedesGlobal) March 26, 2020

Everything about that is stupid. Canadians have better health care and are giving better cash payments to individuals to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. It’s a massive border and there’s no way anyone can seal it, much less some poor sap in combat boots. Symbolically, it’s the world’s largest demilitarized border. Why mess with that? There's nothing useful or practical about it! Well, there’s one benefit to Donald Trump: He can pretend that he’s “doing something.”

Remember, everything Trump does is predicated on his reelection. That’s why he tried so hard to limit testing in the early days. Instead of working to stem the spread of the disease, he decided that rising numbers were a threat to his political standing and he reacted accordingly. You can see it in this new ad by the Joe Biden campaign:

holy shit this @JoeBiden ad is good. pic.twitter.com/CAgIrt2Zua

— Florida Chris (@chrislongview) March 26, 2020

The past month has been about minimizing the impact of the pandemic, promising that the numbers will fall, promising snake oil cures, dismissing it as “just like the flu,” and as of late, demanding that people get back to work because “the cure can’t be worse than the disease.”

“The cure,” of course, being people losing their jobs, while “the disease” is people losing their lives.

But there’s a method to the madness. Whether it’s closing the border, or comparing COVID-19 to the flu, or demanding people get back to work, it all has an underlying electoral purpose. Remember that solutions to the pandemic are liberal ones: government support of individuals, government intervention in the economy, better health care, better social safety net, communal action, etc. This isn’t 9/11, when conservatives could bloat the Pentagon budget even further, ride a new wave of racism, and curtail civil liberties. So how do Trump and the Republicans work this to their favor?

Here’s what they’ll do (and they’re already doing it):

1. TRUMP IS DECISIVE

Oh my god, Trump can’t stop being the best leader the world has ever seen! Did you see? He closed the border to China. Biden didn’t want Trump to close the border to China, but he did so anyway, because that’s the bold kind of leadership that saved thousands of lives.

Trump also closed the borders with Mexico and Canada and deployed our troops, because fuck yeah America is the greatest and so are our troops, and Trump is taking action while liberals want open borders.

What about testing kits, shuttering the pandemic preparedness task force, and months of promising that things were “beautiful” and “perfect” and everything would be fine just around the corner? Those are nasty questions and Trump is too busy being decisive anyway to answer them. Next!

2. LIBERALS BROKE THE ECONOMY

The flu will kill 60-80,000 people this year, and we didn’t shut down the economy because of it. Only a few hundred/thousand/tens of thousands have died because of this virus, and we had to destroy the economy as a result? This was just a liberal plot to defeat Donald Trump at the ballot box. They were angry because the impeachment hoax failed, and they decided to punish the whole country as a result.

Why do you think it’s Democratic governors that are closing their states? Republicans tried to keep America working, and Democrats took your jobs away to punish Donald Trump for being the best president in history. It’s their fault the economy is bad. Only Republicans can fix it.

3. RACISM

The Chinese created this virus and infected America with it. No one could’ve predicted that our enemies would be so ruthless and calculating and effective in conducting a biological attack on our country. It’s their fault. We need Republicans to stand tough against the Chinese for their cowardly attack on our soil.

4. REGIONALISM

If liberals and their sanctuary cities weren’t so “welcoming” to all manners of riff-raff, the disease wouldn’t have spread throughout America. Where did the “Chinese virus” take hold? Seattle. San Francisco. New York. It figures that those liberals would infect the rest of Real America with their virus. Trump is trying to protect the Heartland from the evils of urban liberals.

So yeah, that’s their campaign. It’s already started. The pieces are already in place. And when you see a conservative or Trump say something seemingly insane, note how it fits one of those categories above. For example:

Approximately 7500 people die every day in the United States. Thats approximately 645,000 people so far this year. Coronavirus has killed about 1,000 Americans this year. Just a little perspective. @RealCandaceO

— Rudy W. Giuliani (@RudyGiuliani) March 26, 2020

See?

Will it play with their base? Undoubtedly. They’re too stupid for words.

Will it play with Democrats? Clearly not.

Will it play with Independents? Well, “independent” is not an ideology, and spans everything from Alex Jones crazies to Bernie socialists to the politically apathetic. We do know that government (read: Trump) approval ratings for managing the crisis are ebbing down among independents.

So maybe it won’t work, in the aggregate, amongst that group.

The one wild card is the death rate. If coronavirus deaths remain below or equal to flu deaths, then the argument that the Democrats blew up the economy for no reason will have added salience to the stupidity. So for that reason alone, you’d think that Trump would be working overtime to bend the curve. Yet he’s doing quite the opposite, in fact. It boggles the mind.

Stem the death toll, and Trump has a ready-made excuse for the shitty economy: The Democrats overreacted. Instead, his actions are pushing us closer to the nightmare scenario. For example, look at what happens if Florida doesn’t take action within the next couple of weeks:

CovidActNow.org

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is among the fiercest Trump allies, and will not do anything to contradict or undermine the impeached president’s words and actions. So we’re talking somewhere in between “no action” and “social distancing.” No matter what happens in New York and California (fiercely working to stop the spread of the disease), Florida alone may be Trump’s undoing. Even if those numbers are overly dire, one-third of the “social distancing” death toll is a horrifying 100,000. With numbers like that, Trump and the GOP won’t be able to compare COVID-19 to the flu anymore.

Furthermore, the more the disease ravages red states and rural America, the harder it’ll be to dismiss it as a creation of New York City and San Francisco. Oh, they’ll try anyway! But local politicians will bear the brunt of explaining why they didn’t take the necessary precautions, especially if small-state death tolls end up exceeding those of New York and California—which is quite plausible.

For example, the models that drive the CovidActNow.org projections estimate that California’s death toll, with its shelter-in-place already in action, will be around 11,000. Meanwhile, Missouri, which hasn’t taken any action at all, could see up to 122,000, Oklahoma could see 79,000 deaths, and Tennessee 136,000. As horrific as things look in New York right now, measures in place may limit the damage to 38,000. (California looks as good as it does because it was the first to start shutting down, particularly the five pioneering Bay Area counties that beat anyone else by almost a week.)

In any case, if we see that kind of death toll play out around the country, Trump’s goose is cooked, and so is his entire party. Otherwise, whether by luck (a vaccine or better treatment emerges), or by action (militarizing the Canadian border stops the spread of COVID-19 in Arkansas!), Republicans will use that mix of liberal-blamin’, big-city-hatin’, racism creatin’, and grandiose Trump myth-makin’, to explain away the economic collapse, and pin the blame squarely on the Democrats.

President Trump Taunts Romney Over Coronavirus Test Results

President Donald Trump again taunted Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) Wednesday, this time over the results of his coronavirus test.

Romney announced on Tuesday that his test results came back negative, but would have to remain in quarantine for the remainder of an initial 14-day period.

“Thankfully I’ve tested negative for COVID-19,” the at-times Republican wrote to his followers on Twitter.

“Nevertheless, guidance from my physician, consistent with the CDC guidelines, requires me to remain in quarantine as the test does not rule out the onset of symptoms during the 14-day period,” he added.

Trump Just Can’t Resist

The President couldn’t resist taking a jab at Romney, firing off an early morning tweet laced with sarcasm over the “RINO’s” negative test results.

“This is really great news! I am so happy I can barely speak,” he quipped.

“He may have been a terrible presidential candidate and an even worse U.S. Senator, but he is a RINO, and I like him a lot!” Trump announced.

Can Barely Speak

While the President claims he can barely speak on the matter due to overwhelming joy, this is the second time he has trolled Romney over the serious effects of potentially being exposed to coronavirus.

Earlier this week, Romney announced that he would have to self-quarantine upon learning that Senator Rand Paul had become the first of his colleagues to test positive for coronavirus.

He explained that the two had “sat next” to each other “for extended periods in recent days.”

Trump responded, not by joking about the virus, but by joking about Romney having to be isolated.

“Romney is in isolation?” he asked a reporter. “Gee, that’s too bad.”

Trump Mocks Avenatti Too

Romney has been a perpetual thorn in the President’s side, most recently suggesting Trump was ill-prepared for the coronavirus crisis.

This, despite the fact that many experts, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, have said his actions very early on saved lives and will prevent the United States from going down the same path as Italy.

Not to mention Romney, around the same time Trump was taking precautions to protect America in late January, was joining Democrats in voting for the President’s impeachment.

Trump was really dishing out the sarcasm, as he also went after media-darling Michael Avenatti.

A judge rejected Avenatti’s plea for release from prison due to the coronavirus crisis. He was convicted for attempting to extort more than $25 million from Nike in February.

Pelosi And Schumer Play Politics While Americans Die

The Democrats have done a lot of despicable things as of late: The Russian hoax, the Mueller probe, the impeachment scam, trying to socialize our healthcare system (Can you imagine today, if they had been successful?), their open borders policy, and many other travesties too numerous to mention outside of a tome.

But this, this…holding up aid to working families because the Senate economic rescue package does not contain socialist boondoggles, has to be the worst thing they have ever done in modern history.

Fox News reports that GOP senators are expressing outrage on the floor of the Senate: “The country is burning, and your side wants to play political games,” said Senate Majority Whip John Thune, (R-SD). “It is time to get this done. The American people expect us to act, they need action. We need to get this done for the American people. Here we are dilly-dallying around. This bill is about workers, families, people out there hurting economically—we’re in a position to do something about it and it is high time that we did.”

Watch Thune during this crisis. He has long been respected in DC. He could be making a national name for himself.

“Republicans understand that a national crisis calls for urgency and calls for bipartisanship,” GOP Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said. “It’s time for Democrats to stop playing politics and step up to the plate… We’re at war with no ammo. Democrats are talking about this as if it is some juicy political opportunity. This is not a juicy political opportunity… This has got to stop and today’s the day it has to stop. The country is out of time.”

McConnell is right. Democrats like Nancy Pelosi (CA) and Chuck Schumer (NY) see this as just another chance to fatten the coffers of their pet radical groups and special interests. This while millions could go without jobs and paychecks. They are playing a dangerous game. They will likely lose.
