Majority Of Trump Voters Say They Will Follow Him To Another Party And Abandon The GOP

A poll released this past weekend indicates a majority – nearly 50 percent – of Trump voters would follow the former President to a new party and abandon the GOP.

The Suffolk University/USA TODAY survey indicates 46 percent of those who voted for Donald Trump in 2020 would join the third party if he were to go that route.

“If there’s a civil war in the Republican Party, the voters who backed Donald Trump in November’s election are ready to choose sides,” USA Today writes. “Behind Trump.”

By contrast, 27 percent of Trump voters said they would stick with the GOP while another 27 percent said they were, as of yet, undecided.

The polling represents another in a series of findings that indicate voters are more in line with the vision of the former President than they are with the Mitch McConnells and Liz Cheneys of the world.

Trump Voters Willing to Abandon GOP

Poll after poll seems to indicate Donald Trump continues to be popular with Republican voters, a terrible sign for those trying to instigate an in-party civil war with the former president.

A vast majority of GOP voters want to see him play a big role in the future of the party, including running again in 2024.

A Rasmussen survey in late December indicated 72 percent of Republican voters want their legislators to be more like Trump and less like establishment politicians like McConnell, the Senate Minority Leader.

Brandon Keidl, 27, a Republican and small-business owner from Milwaukee, told USA Today following their survey why he supports Trump.

“We feel like Republicans don’t fight enough for us, and we all see Donald Trump fighting for us as hard as he can, every single day,” Keidl explained.

“But then you have establishment Republicans who just agree with establishment Democrats and everything, and they don’t ever push back.”

It really is that simple. Trump remains popular because he fights for the American people. It was true in 2016, and it will remain true even as we barrel toward 2024.

RELATED: Poll: The Republican Party Is More Marjorie Taylor Greene Than It Is Liz Cheney

More Bad News For the Anti-Trumpers

To Keidl’s point, it seems that establishment Republicans of late are willing to fight harder against Donald Trump and his supporters than they ever were against Democrats.

Earlier this month, for example, a group of “anti-Trump” Republicans led by former independent presidential candidate Evan McMullin announced that they are considering forming a political party of their own.

Republican Adam Kinzinger (IL), one of only 10 Republicans in the House to have voted in favor of impeachment earlier this year, formed a new PAC which he claims is fighting to “take back” the Republican Party from Trump.

Speculation of Trump forming a third party has been ongoing since the election, though those rumors have subsided a bit.

Perhaps more frightening for the establishment GOP?

The Guardian reports that Trump, in a speech he will deliver later this week at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Florida, is expected to argue that he is still the man to drain the Washington swamp as the Republican “presumptive 2024 nominee.”

This civil war isn’t going to end well for the party.

Rep. Matt Gaetz: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Could Make Presidential Run In 2024

In a weekend interview, Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz, a major Trump ally, suggested that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis might be a frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024 should former president Donald Trump decide not to run.

On the Fox News Channel, Gaetz stated that “he was proud of” DeSantis, and went on to say that, “the truth is that the Biden folks know that if Donald Trump is not the candidate in 2024, the leader of our movement will be Ron DeSantis.”

Tackling COVID-19 In Florida

In recent days, the Biden administration has floated the idea of domestic travel restrictions, possibly targeting Florida, in the wake of a report from the CDC indicating that Florida currently has the highest amount of cases of a U.K. variant of COVID known as B.1.1.7.

DeSantis blasted the Biden White House, saying the idea of travel restrictions was “absurd” and “a political attack on the people of Florida.”

He also called out the Biden administration for suggesting the restrictions, saying it was “ridiculous to impose while relaxing restrictions on the U.S.-Mexico border.”

While the nation is still feeling the effects of COVID, Ron DeSantis managed a state with minimal lockdowns and an elderly population that was taken care of first.

Because Florida is a state with a large portion of the population over 65, right now, it leads the nation with the highest vaccination rate among senior citizens.

Rep. Gaetz also stated, “people see that in Florida, businesses are opening, unemployment is dropping, home buying is increasing, and that type of prosperity is very attractive to people who are having to endure lockdowns in other parts of America.”

Is DeSantis A Name To Watch?

Ron DeSantis may become a name to watch simply for the fact that he takes on the media in Trump-like fashion.

Recently, DeSantis was criticized for Super Bowl celebrations that could possibly spread more contagious strains of COVID-19.

DeSantis fired back, “The media is worried about that obviously.” He went on, “You don’t care as much when it’s a peaceful protest, you don’t care as much if you are celebrating a Biden election. You only care about it if it’s people you don’t like.”

DeSantis has long been a critic of what he says is a bias in the media against conservatives.

He supports a bill in the Florida legislature that would impose penalties on social media companies whose algorithms are perceived to favor one candidate over another.

Trump Would Be A Supporter

There is much speculation that Donald Trump will run for a second term as president in 2024. Ron DeSantis is up for re-election for Governor in 2022.

Trump will almost certainly be an avid supporter of DeSantis’ gubernatorial re-election.

There has also been some speculation as to whether Trump may start a third party. On Saturday, seven Republican Senators voted to convict Trump on charges that he incited the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

While many of those Senators were just re-elected, one, Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) is up for re-election in 2022. Trump could very well support a primary challenger should one emerge.

Rep. Liz Cheney, who voted to impeach Trump already has a challenger for 2022, who may also enjoy support from Trump and his supporters.

Trump also lashed out at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) who recently made the comment that “Trump didn’t get away with anything yet.”

McConnell’s comments came after he voted against convicting Trump in his second impeachment trial.

The former president fired back, calling McConnell, “a dour, sullen and unsmiling political hack.”

If Trump remains popular in Florida – and doesn’t run for President in 2024 – it will definitely be an advantage for Ron DeSantis.

NYT Report: Anti-Trump Republican Adam Kinzinger ‘Unwelcome In His Own Family’

A New York Times report indicates that anti-Trump Republican Adam Kinzinger (IL) has not only been censured by his own party but is being shunned by members of his own family.

Kinzinger has been on the offensive of late, urging the Republican party to cleanse itself of former President Donald Trump.

He is one of only 10 Republicans in the House to have voted in favor of impeachment earlier this year.

The Times, in a piece they title ‘Adam Kinzinger’s Lonely Mission,’ notes that the anti-Trumper received a two-page, handwritten letter from 11 members of his family.

“Oh my, what a disappointment you are to us and to God!” they wrote. “You have embarrassed the Kinzinger family name!”

Adam Kinzinger Wants to Rescue the GOP From Trump

The profile by the New York Times references Adam Kinzinger’s quest to “restore the Republican Party” following the successful four-year term of former President Trump.

Kinzinger views the party as having relied exclusively on the politics of fear.

“We just fear,” he said. “Fear the Democrats. Fear the future. Fear everything. And it works for an election cycle or two. The problem is it does real damage to this democracy.”

Kinzinger seems unaware that the Democrats’ entire platform in 2020 was running on ‘fear’ of Donald Trump. And now he is doing the same.

The Times notes that Kinzinger’s opposition to Trump dated all the way back to 2016 and led to a testy exchange – through a medium – between the two.

Trump reportedly spoke with Richard Porter, a Republican National Committee member from Illinois, about Kinzinger’s re-election bid.

He “poked his finger in his (Porter’s) chest and told him to deliver to Mr. Kinzinger a vulgar message about what he should do with himself,” they write.

“When Mr. Porter relayed the comment to Mr. Kinzinger during a conversation on Election Day, Mr. Kinzinger laughed and invited Mr. Trump to do the same.”

Kinzinger’s Shame

The La Salle County GOP, which censured Kinzinger last month, believes his anti-Trump stance has more to do with seeking attention than it has to do with advancing the party’s platforms.

“There doesn’t seem to be a camera or a microphone he won’t run to,” said county GOP Chair Larry Smith. “He used to talk to us back in the good old days.”

Now, Kinzinger has formed a new PAC which he claims is fighting to “take back” the Republican party from Trump.

Adam Kinzinger, in announcing the PAC, took aim at pro-Trump Republican congressman Matt Gaetz (FL), to which the latter did not take very kindly.

“He wants to target my America First politics, referencing me by name,” Gaetz wrote on social media. “My response: F***ing bring it.”

Aside from being censured in Illinois, Kinzinger is one of several Republicans who voted to impeach Trump that is now facing a primary challenge.

Diante Johnson, an organizer with Black Voices for Trump last year and a field organizer with Trump’s 2016 campaign, has expressed interest in challenging Kinzinger in 2022.

“Kinzinger has said he is at peace with the possibility that he could lose re-election over his Trump stance,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

A recent poll from Axios-Ipsos shows Republican voters are siding with Trump over his intraparty opponents who supported the impeachment drive, signaling trouble for those facing primary challenges.

Gaetz Challenges Anti-Trump Republican Adam Kinzinger: ‘F***ing Bring It’

Florida congressman Matt Gaetz challenged anti-Trump Republican Adam Kinzinger (IL) to “bring it” after the latter named Gaetz as a target for his newly formed PAC.

Well, he actually used slightly more colorful terminology than that.

Gaetz, first elected to Congress in 2016, has fast become one of former President Donald Trump’s biggest supporters.

In a late-night tweet on Wednesday, the Florida Republican began by praising Kinzinger for his military service before making it clear he wasn’t afraid of a fight.

“Adam is a patriot who fought for America from Northwest Florida. We will always appreciate [and] honor his service,” Gatez wrote.

“Now, he wants to target my America First politics, referencing me by name,” he added. “My response: F***ing bring it.”

GOP Civil War: Matt Gaetz Fights Back Against Adam Kinzinger

Matt Gaetz was responding to an article published by The Hill in which Adam Kinzinger announced a new PAC he claims is fighting to “take back” the GOP from Trump.

Kinzinger went on the offensive against Gaetz and recently punished Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).

“Oh, there’s a huge list. … I mean, look, all you have to do is see people like, of course, Marjorie Taylor Greene. You look at people like Matt Gaetz, who know better,” Kinzinger said. “I think neither of them believes the stuff they ascribe to, they just want fame.”

Ironic, considering the only reason anybody even knows Kinzinger’s name is because he’s willing to pimp himself out to liberal media by attacking Donald Trump.

Kinzinger voted to impeach Trump, one of 10 Republicans in the House to do so, making him a poor man’s Mitt Romney. Or a dumb man’s Ben Sasse, depending on how you look at it.

“The party that always spoke about a brighter tomorrow no longer does,” he said. “It talks about a dark future instead. Hope has given way to fear. Outrage has replaced opportunity. And worst of all, our deep convictions are ignored.”

“This is not the Republican road and now we know exactly where (that) new and dangerous road leads. It leads to insurrection and an armed attack on the Capitol,” Kinzinger suggested.

Gaetz Leads the Way

Gaetz has been leading the charge in the GOP’s civil war against anti-Trump Republicans.

Gaetz actually traveled to Wyoming for a rally in which he ripped Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), another pro-impeachment Republican.

There, he suggested the only two things Cheney has done in Congress is “frustrate the agenda of President [Donald] Trump and sell out to the forever war machine.”

Cheney and Sasse (R-NE) were both censured by their own party in various counties due to their anti-Trump actions.

And many Republicans who sided with Democrats in the House are facing other issues.

Of the 10 House members that voted for impeachment, seven of them, including Cheney, already have primary challengers.

Senate Republicans have seen controversy of their own, with six of them voting Tuesday alongside Democrats to affirm that the impeachment trial is constitutional.

Matt Gaetz Reveals How Democrats Made Marjorie Taylor Greene Possibly ‘Most Powerful’ Republican In Congress

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) went on Fox News on Friday to reveal how he feels that Democrats’ efforts to take down Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) have backfired on them.

Gaetz Issues Warning About Greene

After Democrats successfully ousted Greene from her committees, Gaetz warned that they had made her “possibly one of the most powerful Republicans in Congress.” Not stopping there, he said that they had definitely made her “the most powerful freshman in Congress.”

“Bravo, Marjorie Taylor Greene,” Gaetz said in response to her last press conference. “That was so good I almost had to smoke a cigarette afterward. She was policy-focused; she was graceful. I think she pointed out the hypocrisy in the media.”

“Most importantly … we saw that yesterday Democrats made Marjorie Taylor Greene certainly the most powerful freshman in Congress and possibly one of the most powerful Republicans in Congress,” he added.

Gaetz Doubles Down

“What other freshman could command a press conference like that and get it carried live with the opportunity to share the views and values that emanate from their district?” Gaetz questioned.

“Marjorie is off the proverbial leash right now,” Gaetz concluded. “I think she’s going to be a major communicator.”

“And if she shows the grace and the focus and the attention to policies that matter to everyday Americans like she did in that press conference, she is going to be a very successful congresswoman,” he said.

Greene Speaks Out

Greene took to Twitter on Friday morning to say, “I woke up early this morning literally laughing thinking about what a bunch of morons the Democrats (+11) are for giving some one like me free time.”

“In this Democrat tyrannical government, Conservative Republicans have no say on committees anyway,” she added. “Oh this is going to be fun!”

During her press conference, Greene claimed that Democrats have “stripped my district of their voice” by removing her from the committees, according to the BBC. She also blasted the Democratic-run government as “tyrannically controlled” and denounced the upcoming Senate impeachment trial of Donald Trump.

Greene went on to go after the media for “addicting people to hate”.

House Republicans Vote To Keep Liz Cheney In Leadership After Her Impeachment Vote

An effort to oust House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney from her leadership position failed Wednesday after a majority of Republicans voted to keep her as the third-ranking House Republican.

The vote to potentially remove Cheney was done by secret ballot.

In the end, 61 Republicans in the House voted to remove Cheney and 145 GOP members voted to keep her.

One Republican voted present.

Backlash Against Liz Cheney Came After Impeaching Trump

The vote followed a defense of Cheney from House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy.

The vote was held over Cheney’s vote to join Democrats in impeaching President Donald Trump for a second time. Nine other Republicans also voted to impeach.

Cheney told the House Republican Conference, “I won’t apologize for the vote.”

Republican Congressmen Matt Rosendale and Andy Biggs passed around a petition to remove Cheney from her post as House GOP chair.

After the vote, Rosendale said, “The Conference has spoken, and it’s time for Republicans to unify to take back the majority. I will do my part to achieve that goal.”

Cheney Endorsed Primary Opponent Of Staunch Conservative Rep. Thomas Massie

Pro-Trump Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz, who went to Wyoming to rally against her, claimed Cheney had worked against former President Trump’s ‘America First’ because Cheney was part of the “forever war machine.”

Gaetz, along with Biggs and Congressman Thomas Massie, opposed Cheney’s efforts to shove into the National Defense Authorization Act an amendment that would precent Trump from bringing the troops home from Afghanistan.

Cheney had also supported Massie’s GOP primary opponent, which angered many House conservatives.

Since Cheney announced that she would vote to impeach Trump, a recent poll found that her political support has collapsed by more than double digits back home.

Cheney In Trouble In Wyoming

73 percent of Wyoming Republicans viewed her unfavorably according to the poll, while 62 percent of all voters overall now view her negatively.

In the same poll, only 10 percent of GOP voters and 13 percent of all voters said they would vote to reelect her.

Trump pollster John McLaughlin wrote, “Liz Cheney’s decision to vote to impeach President Trump makes her extremely vulnerable.”

“It is evident her ratings are in bad shape among general election voters and have collapsed among Republicans and Trump voters,” he added.

Since her vote to impeach, 10 County Republican Parties in Wyoming have voted to censure her.

Liz Cheney Censured By 10 Wyoming County Republican Parties Over Impeachment Vote

The Republican Parties of ten different Wyoming counties have voted to censure House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney. According to the Casper Star-Tribune, that number could still rise.

Since Cheney and nine other Republicans voted in favor of impeaching President Donald Trump, who they blame for inciting the Capitol Hill riots on January 6, Cheney has faced significant criticism in Wyoming and Washington, D.C.

County GOP: Cheney ‘Betrayed The Trust’ Of Her Voters

Wyoming Republicans haven’t minced words in their descriptions of Cheney’s behavior.

The Sweetwater County Republican Party censure states that Cheney had “betrayed the trust and failed to honor the will of the very large majority of motivated Wyoming voters who elected her.”

Part of their statement read:

“Because she voted in an anarchic proceeding against President Donald J. Trump which was conducted in contravention of established principles of due process — a proceeding that provided no probative evidence for consideration, called no witnesses to testify under oath, permitted no questioning of the accusers by the accused — Representative Liz Cheney stood in defiance of the quantifiable will of the substantial majority of Wyoming citizens and devalued the political influence of the State of Wyoming.”

Cheney On Impeachment Vote: ‘This Is A Vote Of Conscience’

Over half of the House Republican Conference has said they plan to vote to remove Cheney from her leadership role.

Still, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has implied that he will not support ousting Cheney from her post, and Cheney herself declared last month, “I’m not going anywhere.”

“This is a vote of conscience,” Cheney added. “It’s one where there are different views in our conference.”

She did not explain how President Trump was responsible for some people breaking in to the Capitol building.

McConnell Supports Cheney

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell gave his support to Cheney on Monday, describing her as an “important leader.”

“Liz Cheney is a leader with deep convictions and the courage to act on them,” McConnell told CNN.

“She is an important leader in our party and in our nation,” McConnell added. “I am grateful for her service and look forward to continuing to work with her on the crucial issues facing our nation.”

Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz, a regular Cheney foe, traveled to Wyoming last week to denounce her to the cheers of many Trump supporters.

Donald Trump To Focus On Defeating ‘Never Trump’ Republicans

Gaetz isn’t the only Republican taking steps to defeat Cheney in her 2022 re-election bid.

Former President Trump, considering his political future, had reportedly talked of creating a third party.

However, he is apparently changing that focus in favor of primarying ‘Never Trump’ Republicans – like Liz Cheney.

Matt Gaetz Torches Liz Cheney For Not Supporting Trump Agenda – Selling Out To ‘Forever War Machine’

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) travelled to Cheyenne, Wyoming on Thursday for a rally in which he went after Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), claiming that the only two things that she’s done in Congress is “frustrate the agenda of President [Donald] Trump and sell out to the forever war machine.”

Gaetz Blasts Cheney

“There are basically two things that Liz Cheney has done in the United States Congress: frustrate the agenda of President Trump and sell out to the forever war machine,” Gaetz said to a crowd in Cheney’s home state.

Gaetz held this rally at the Wyoming State Capitol in the hopes of inspiring Cheney’s own constituents to reelect a true conservative in her place. Cheney has found herself in hot water ever since she voted to impeach Trump earlier this month in a move that many Republicans saw as a betrayal.

Gaetz claimed that Cheney spent the past four years undermining Trump’s agenda, and that she wants to put our troops in harms way by engaging America in endless wars.

“We were told by Liz Cheney and all of the globalists that if [we] accepted globalism we would export America’s best crops, best products, best services, and instead, all too often we are exporting America’s bravest patriots to die in distant lands,” he said.

“A nation that sends its best to go fight in the worst places in the world should not send its worst to be representatives in the United States Congress,” Gaetz added.

Gaetz Doubles Down

Gaetz even attacked Cheney for her claims that he wears makeup during television appearances.

“We have to see our leaders for who they truly are,” Gaetz said. “Now, Liz Cheney mocks me for wearing makeup during my television appearances. Makeup only hides the imperfections of the skin; it does very little to conceal the soulless corruption of Washington, D.C.”

At one point in the rally, Donald Trump Jr. called in to encourage Wyoming residents to reelect a new representative instead of Cheney.

“You could send a representative who actually represents you, and you could send Liz Cheney home, back home to Washington, D.C.,” Gaetz said at the end of the rally.

Joy Behar Warns Gaetz To ‘Watch’ Himself In Feud With Liz Cheney – ‘She’ll Eat Him For Breakfast’

Earlier today, we reported that Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) were publicly feuding after she voted in favor of impeaching former President Donald Trump.

Now, “The View” cohost Joy Behar is inserting herself into this drama, warning Gaetz to “watch” himself when it comes to fighting with Cheney.

Behar Blasts Republicans

Behar went after not only Gaetz, but also any Republican senator who votes against impeaching Trump over the Capitol riots earlier this month.

“That anybody in the Senate could look at that, could look at the facts, and not say that he’s guilty, I do not really understand what country I’m living in,” Behar said.

“And you know what, these people who are not going to vote for a conviction will be remembered,” she added. “We will remember them. Because if they let him go without any kind of accountability, Trump, this will happen again.”

“It will happen again,” Behar continued. “We’ll remember those names of the senators and the House people who decided not to convict this guy, because the blood is on their hands then.”

Behar Doubles Down

Not stopping there, Behar said that House Impeachment Managers had delivered the article to the “scene of the crime” on Monday.

“Those people who were receiving those papers, these people, they were all at risk that day and they know it, even those who are going to vote to acquit this guy,”  Behar said. “They know they were at risk.”

That’s when Behar gave Gaetz a warning about messing with Cheney.

“As far as Matt Gaetz and Liz Cheney is concerned, the daughter of Dick Cheney, she’ll eat him for breakfast,” Behar said. “Matt, you better watch yourself.”

This came after Gaetz announced plans to travel to Wyoming to try and “inspire” the state to oust her as its representative.

“In the wake of the Biden presidency, the Republican Party establishment is trying to wrangle the conservative movement back under their control,” Gaetz said.

“They want the GOP to look and sound like Liz Cheney,” he added. “I have a competing vision for Republicanism and I intend to showcase it by going after the America Last politicians in both parties.”

The ‘Squad’ Issues Brutal Impeachment Warning – ‘Dangerous Precedent’

The radically liberal “Squad” teamed up on Monday to issue a major warning about what will happen if the effort to impeach former President Donald Trump is not successful.

‘Squad’ Speaks Out On Impeachment

Various members of the “Squad” took to social media to remind their followers about how important they feel it is to impeach Trump in the Senate.

“Nobody is above the law, no matter the person or the timing. Failure to hold those who would incite terror on others to overthrow an election process that has worked for over 230 yrs would set a dangerous precedent,” tweeted Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI).

Related: Rashida Tlaib Unravels – Says ‘It’s Really Important To Understand Israel Is A Racist State’

Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO), who is the newest member of the “Squad,” got in on the action as well on her own Twitter page.

“The article of impeachment has been delivered to the Senate,” she wrote. “They need to convict Donald J. Trump — and the House needs to pass my resolution to investigate and expel the GOP members of Congress who sabotaged our democracy and incited the insurrection.”

Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) posted a quote from the late Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), writing, “‘When we’re dancing with the angels, the question will be asked…what did we do to make sure we kept our democracy intact?’”

Ilhan Omar Chimes In

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), one of the leaders of the “Squad,” responded to a tweet by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) that read, “impeachment is the zenith of cancel culture.”

“Yes, inciting and participating in an insurrection against the US government should get you cancelled, impeached, expelled and jailed,” Omar tweeted in response.

Trump was impeached by the House for a second time earlier this month for supposedly inciting the Capitol riots before leaving office. An impeachment trial is expected to happen in the Senate in the coming weeks.

AOC Speaks Out

Earlier this month, “Squad” leader Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) talked about why she wants Trump to be impeached.

“We have to understand that what happened on Wednesday was insurrection against the United States. That is what Donald J. Trump engaged in, and that is what those who stormed the Capitol engaged in,” she said.

“When we talk about healing…the process of healing is separate, and, in fact, requires accountability,” Ocasio-Cortez added. “And so, if we allow insurrection against the United States with impunity, with no accountability, we are inviting it to happen again. That is how serious it is.”
