If Dems Get Witnesses, Trump’s Team Should Be Able To Call Their’s Too

According to the Wall Street Journal, Sen. Mitch McConnell has told his constituents that he doesn’t have the votes to block witnesses during President Trump’s Senate impeachment trial.

He informed them after Trump’s legal team finished with the countermeasures that they want to show the American people how the Democrat-led House pushed the Articles of Impeachment through the system to hurt Trump’s 2020 chances.

The Democrats will not lose in the respect that they have put out a warning to future presidential candidates and judicial nominees that they will ruin their lives and their families lives for going against them. There is no one but Trump that could have stood up to this kind of punishment and there never will be another.

On the third and final day of presentations by the Trump legal team, lawyers tried to cast doubts on the importance and credibility of allegations by former national security adviser John Bolton about the president’s motives for freezing aid to Ukraine.

But at a meeting of all Republican senators late Tuesday, GOP leaders told their conference that they don’t currently have the votes to prevent witnesses from being called, people familiar with the matter said. Republicans had hoped to wrap up the trial with an acquittal of the president by this week, but Democrats have said he should appear under oath to offer a firsthand account of the president’s motivations for freezing aid to Ukraine—a matter at the heart of the impeachment case.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) said the vote total wasn’t where it needed to be on blocking witnesses or documents, these people said. He had a card with “yes,” “no,” and “maybes” marked on it, apparently a whip count, but he didn’t show it to senators.

Using less than half of the 24 hours they were allotted, the president’s lawyers on Tuesday argued that House managers hadn’t established their case that Mr. Trump abused power and obstructed Congress and said the accusations fell short of the threshold needed to remove a president from office, particularly in an election year. The Republican Senators who are stupid enough to vote for witnesses need to lose their seats for their bad decisions. They are merely liberals disguising themselves as Republicans. Time for pressure on them.

Whatever Trump told Bolton in a conversation should not matter one bit, it is a private conversation, and it is nobody’s business. What matters is that aid was released and that Ukraine’s president said he never was pressured to announce anything. The issue is those weak Republican Senators, just man up or woman up and support the President. All witnesses should have been called in the House, we have seen enough of those idiots Schiff and Nadler, enough already.

IF there were no impeachment hearings, what would the Senate be doing right now? Looking into Biden’s corruption in Burisma? Who are the loudest voices for impeachment? The same people that are caught up in these corrupt foreign deals that begin with Burisma.

The impeachment exists to distract and prevent the prosecution of corrupt politicians like Pelosi, Romney, Schiff, etc. They can’t let the distraction end or it’s the beginning of the end for them. Those that think they have something to fear don’t want the impeachment hearings to end.

You know, when they conduct these polls and tell you that the American people overwhelmingly want witnesses because they want to see a fair trial, what they don’t tell you is the makeup of the people who answered that poll. I bet if they told you the questions (and responses) behind the poll, you would see a lot of Republicans who want witnesses—-witnesses that they believe will fully exonerate Trump.

That’s why I don’t really care if they call witnesses, as long as Trump gets to call all his witnesses and it isn’t all one-sided in favor of the Dems. Of course, if it does turn out to be one-sided, some Republicans are going to have a LOT to answer for…but the bright side is that this will NOT go down as the “fair trial” that the American people wanted.

Joe Biden: ‘I Sure Would Like Michelle to Be the Vice President’

On Tuesday, former Vice President Joe Biden said that he would “love” for former first lady Michelle Obama to become his vice president.

While campaigning in Muscatine, Iowa, Biden was asked by a voter if he would think about appointing Barack Obama to the Supreme Court.

‘I sure would like Michelle to be the vice president’

“Yeah, I would, but I don’t think he’d do it,” Biden responded, referring to the former president. “He’d be a great Supreme Court justice.”

The voter shot back at Biden, “Second question is — which Obama?”

“Well I sure would like Michelle to be the vice president,” Biden replied.

Not the First Time Biden Has Floated Michelle Obama’s Name as Potential VP

This was not the first time Biden has said he would like Michelle to be his VP. During an appearance on “The Late Show” in September 2019,  host Stephen Colbert asked Biden if he had “asked Michelle Obama for advice.”

“Only to be my vice president,” Biden replied.

He then quickly added, “I’m only joking. Michelle, I’m joking.”

Michelle Obama has repeatedly said she does not intend to run for office nor does she have any interest in doing so.

Biden has mentioned other women as possible running mates. In November, he said former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates could be a good vice presidential pick. Biden has also mentioned former gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, and New Hampshire Sens. Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan.

Last month, Biden told Axios that senator and current 2020 Democratic competitor Elizabeth Warren is someone he could imagine in that role.

During the event Tuesday, Biden also took shots at President Trump’s defense attorneys for his Senate impeachment trial. Trump’s team defended him against charges of abusing his power in relations with Ukraine on Monday, arguing that Obama had abused his own power in his relationship with Russia.

“They’re both incredibly qualified people. I mean and such decent, honorable people. I found it strange yesterday that in that Republican presentation, they talked about maybe Obama should have been impeached,” Biden added.

According to a RealClearPolitics polling average, Biden is currently in second place behind Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in the Iowa caucuses, which happen Monday.

Rand Paul Slams Chuck Schumer, Says Trump Should Sue Him for Defamation

During an interview on Fox News Tuesday, Senator Rand Paul became incensed over Senator Chuck Schumer’s recent comments, advocating for President Donald Trump to sue the New York Democrat for defamation.

“You know, I’m offended and shocked that Schumer would be so scurrilous as to accuse the president and his children of making money illegally off of politics when the only people we know have made money off of this have been Hunter Biden and Joe Biden,” Paul said.

RELATED: Liberal Woman Goes Ballistic On Rand Paul in Restaurant

Rand Paul: We Know Hunter Biden Has Made Millions

“So Hunter Biden makes a million dollars a year, that’s documented, but Schumer simply creates and makes up and says, ‘Oh, maybe the president’s kids are making money,’” Paul went on. “John Bolton is making money as we speak. He has probably already gotten the several million dollar advance for this book. He’s making money by testifying against the president.”

We Know John Bolton is Making Money

“The only people we know who have actually made money? Hunter Biden and now John Bolton,” Paul continued. “And they’re not objective–John Bolton is not objective in any way now that he’s cashing million dollar checks. To have Schumer come up and say out of the blue, ‘Maybe the president’s kids are making money,’ with no evidence at all, that’s defamation and they ought to sue him.”

Paul is correct that Sen. Schumer has suggested–with zero evidence–that President Trump’s family may have been making money abroad.

Trump SHOULD Sue Schumer!

“There is nothing in the record about the president’s kids,” Paul said. “So Schumer has just created this whole thing out of whole cloth and said, ‘Oh, why don’t we go after the president’s kids?’ We don’t know yet whether or not the president’s dealings with the Chinese president have something to do with the Trumps making money.’ He just made it up! Completely made it up! That’s defamation of character and he ought to go to court and be sued for it.”

Rand Paul has been a staunch defender of President Trump throughout the impeachment process, even going so far as to threaten forcing a vote to have Hunter Biden and the CIA whistleblower testify.

Who knows? That could happen.

Donald Trump could even eventually sue Chuck Schumer, too.

Top Republican Leader Sends Stern Message to GOP Senators Thinking About Caving To Democrats On Impeachment

During a Monday night interview by CBS News, Congressman Mark Meadows warned Republican Senators that if they side with Democrats and break with President Donald Trump during the impeachment trial, they could face “political repercussions.”

Meadows Says John Bolton Shouldn’t Testify

“Congressman Meadows, would you support a White House effort to block a Bolton testimony if he were called as a witness?” CBS News host Norah O’Donnell asked Meadows.

“You know, I’ve been one of the few that believe that Secretary Pompeo and Secretary Perry could have testified when it was over here in the House,” Meadows replied. “I’m also one that believes that when you get close to the president, whether it be his chief of staff or his national security advisor, you have to allow for that free flow of conversation back and forth, where ideas can be shared. And so I do believe that executive privilege should be invoked on that and that we shouldn’t hear from Ambassador Bolton.”

Believes Republicans Who Sided with Democrats Would Face ‘Political Repercussions’

“Do you think Republican senators face political repercussions if they break with the president?” O’Donnell asked.

“Yeah, I do,” Meadows said. “I mean, listen, I don’t wanna speak for my Senate colleagues. But there are always political repercussions for every vote you take. There is no vote that is higher-profile than this.”

Meadows is not wrong. As the impeachment circus becomes more and more absurd, whether or not some moderate Republicans decide to stick with President Trump or side with the Democrats is a decision that will rightly define them.

Trump is a Republican president of particular significance, as Meadows rightly pointed out last week.

Desperate Dems

If any Republicans decide to go against Trump, Meadows is right that they will likely pay a political price for it. The Democrats have had it in for Trump since day one, and this Ukraine impeachment angle is only the latest ploy of many. When this doesn’t work, there will be more.

You can expect Democrats to be all in on each of these desperate gambits. Republicans should have sense enough to avoid them.

Or else.

Dem Impeachment Manager Echoes Adam Schiff – This is About the Election

Rep. Jason Crow, currently serving as a Democrat impeachment manager, admits that his party’s efforts are due to the upcoming presidential election. It is a similar argument to one made by Adam Schiff recently.

Crow’s admission came during an interview with MSNBC’s Chuck Rosenberg, in which the host addressed the Democrat party’s alternating sense of urgency regarding the need to remove President Trump from office.

“Did the House move too quickly?” Rosenberg asked, noting that had the House conducted a thorough effort in the first place, they wouldn’t need the Senate to do their job now.

“No, I think the House proceeded in the way that it should have proceeded,” Crow insisted. “There was urgency, but it was also thoughtful and deliberate, it occurred over several months period of time.”

He then – perhaps accidentally – admitted what that urgency entailed.

“There is some urgency here,” Crow explained, before adding, “it does have to do with the elections that are coming up later this year.”

RELATED: Schiff: Impeachment Necessary to Stop Trump In 2020

Stunning!

You mean to tell me the Democrats are using impeachment to try and sway the election in their favor? To change the outcome of not only the 2020 election but the 2016 election as well?

Color me shocked.

Except that A) It’s already pretty obvious to anyone with a working set of eyes and ears and B) They’ve already admitted this before.

Crow’s impeachment manager colleague, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, confessed that he and his colleagues could not wait on impeachment because the threat of President Trump winning re-election is too great.

“The argument, ‘why don’t you just wait?’ comes down to this,” Schiff claimed. “‘Why don’t you just let him cheat in just one more election? Why not let him have foreign help one more time?'”

In one fell swoop, Schiff is suggesting President Trump is cheating to win in 2020 and claiming he already cheated in 2016.

Is anybody here old enough to remember when Schiff and his colleagues were telling everybody who would listen that the notion of a rigged election is ludicrous and not accepting the results is a ‘threat to democracy’?

RELATED: Adam Schiff Wants Trump Removed Because He Won’t Do “What’s Right For This Country”

This is Why They’re Doing It

It isn’t just Schiff and Crow who have flat-out said the Democrat party is trying to interfere and rig the 2020 presidential election.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who promoted Schiff and Crow to the ranks of impeachment managers, admitted recently that her party is pursuing the unpopular sham because “civilization, as we know it today, is at stake in the next election.”

Rep. Al Green, the Texas Democrat who believes articles of impeachment should address slavery, has said he’s “concerned if we don’t impeach this president, he will get re-elected.”

And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the New York socialist and darling of the Democrat party, got this whole process rolling by warning: “We don’t have the luxury of time. Yes, this is an emergency.”

Senator Ted Cruz explained exactly why they are doing this.

“This is a partisan sham because they’re mad – the House Democrats – are mad at the American people for electing President Trump,” he said.

Now, they’re telling you exactly that, and they’re saying it to your face.

Iowa’s Des Moines Register Endorses Elizabeth Warren as the Democrat Candidate

By PoliZette Staff | January 27, 2020

While Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has surged to the tops of the polls in New Hampshire, a much tighter race abounds in Iowa.  Former Vice President Joe Biden and Sanders have battled for the lead with Elizabeth Warren and Pete Buttigieg remaining relevant parties in the polls.

Those latest polls have the Massachusetts Senator in fourth place with 15 percent support, trailing South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg by 4 points.  Biden and Sanders share the lead and are in a statistical dead heat at 22 percent.

However, despite recent figures, the big news this week was the Des Moines Register’s endorsement of Elizabeth Warren.

RELATED: Nadler Calls Trump a “Dictator”

After interviewing nine Democrat presidential candidates, the editorial board at Iowa’s top newspaper chose Warren, stating she is “the best leader for these times.”

While describing the reasoning behind their choice they stated, “the senior U.S. senator from Massachusetts is not the radical some perceive her to be. She was a registered Republican until 1996. She is a capitalist.”

However, despite a mostly glowing review and ultimately their prized endorsement.  The Register did qualify some of their statements and pushback against some of Warren’s ideas.

A qualification: Some of her ideas for “big, structural change” go too far. This board could not endorse the wholesale overhaul of corporate governance or cumulative levels of taxation she proposes. While the board has long supported single-payer health insurance, it believes a gradual transition is the more realistic approach. But Warren is pushing in the right direction.  [Des Moines Register]

Still, despite the endorsement, as indicated with the aforementioned poll numbers, Warren has a long way to go in order to be more statistically relevant in Iowa. However, such a climb – though unlikely – is not out of the realm of possibility.

As reported by Geoffrey Skelley at FiveThirtyEight, a great deal of Iowans have not made up their minds and new data from a New York Times Upshot/ Siena College poll found that 39 percent would be willing to change candidates.  Time, however, is not on Warren’s side though as the 2020 Iowa Democratic caucuses will take place on February 3, 2020.

GOP Senators Plan for Acquittal After Witness Vote – Impeachment End Game in Sight

If the vote to call witnesses fails, Senate GOP leaders might pursue a quick end to the ongoing impeachment trial.

Vote to Acquit Could Come as Early as Friday

Politico reports that Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is mulling over using procedural moves to end debate and vote for Trump’s acquittal. It is expected that the vote to call witnesses will fail and Democrats will be unable to introduce more evidence. If that happens, Senator John Barrasso says the vote to acquit could come as early as Friday.

“The question is going to come to ‘Have you heard enough to make a decision or do you want witnesses?’ If people say, ‘We’re ready to vote,’ we’re going to vote right then,” said Barrasso.

RELATED: Report: Mitch McConnell Plans to Acquit Trump on Impeachment Charges

Politico reports, “Barrasso suggested that an acquittal vote could take place as soon as Friday — if senators don’t agree to subpoena additional witnesses or documentary evidence. Under the organizing resolution that controls the proceedings, Democrats could offer additional motions if the Senate votes down deposing additional witnesses — including former national security adviser John Bolton — but Republicans could then move to shut down debate and call for an up-or-down vote on acquittal.”

“We would,” said Sen. Joni Ernst of the quick acquittal vote. “If it fails, no more witnesses, no more documents. Then we would, I would think … I would imagine that then we would roll into that.”

If Democrats were to try to stall, it would be seen as a partisan attempt to hurt Trump. Democrats might want to go ahead and end this fiasco and risk doing any further damage to their party as the 2020 election nears.

RELATED: After Their Rush to Judgment, Democrats Now Seek to Stall on Impeachment

Please, Just Stop Already

Senate Democrats are already trying to figure out how to outwit McConnell if Republicans pursue this strategy.

“So the rules would have the vote on the articles come up immediately after a failed vote on witnesses. I think we are exploring what our options would be if we lost that witness vote,” said Sen. Chris Murphy according to Politico. “McConnell I would imagine would go straight [to the acquittal vote]. The rules don’t provide for anything.”

After Trump’s lawyer’s presentation, there are supposed to be 16 hours of questions to the House managers that will no doubt be highly scripted by both sides.

And so on, and so on. Can we just end this already?

Senator Hawley Preparing Motions to Subpoena Schiff, Bidens, Whistleblower in Impeachment Trial

Senator Josh Hawley revealed he plans to draft motions to subpoena House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son Hunter, and the alleged ‘whistleblower.’

The move would be especially urgent due to new revelations that moderate Republican senators are threatening to join Democrats in their call for new witnesses in the impeachment trial.

“If the witness vote succeeds, Hawley aims to force votes on subpoenas for House Intelligence Chairman Schiff (D-Calif.), Vice President Biden, Hunter Biden, Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael Atkinson, the still-unnamed whistleblower,” Politico reported over the weekend.

“If the Senate calls witnesses, I will ask for votes on all these next week,” Hawley tweeted.

RELATED: Romney Says He’s ‘Very Likely’ to Join Democrats on Call For New Impeachment Witnesses

An Urgent Move

Hawley’s proposal is pivotal considering a New York Times report on suspiciously leaked manuscript details involving a book from former National Security Advisor John Bolton.

The report – from anonymous sources – indicates that Bolton accuses President Trump of withholding military aid to Ukraine until Joe Biden and his son Hunter were properly investigated.

While the media hit job smacks of a replay of that carried out against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, it is enough to cause weak-kneed senators to crumble and attempt to completely re-litigate the impeachment articles in the Senate.

Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) has admitted, “I think it’s very likely I’ll be in favor of witnesses.”

Susan Collins, Senator from Maine, and Lisa Murkowski, Senator from Alaska, are also reportedly flaking. Meaning Democrats would need just one other Republican colleague to tuck their tail between their legs and join them in the impeachment hit job.

Should they succeed, Hawley’s measure would present the impeachment managers with a difficult double-edged sword, raising the specter that Schiff, Biden and the whistleblower could all be called to testify.

RELATED: Report: GOP Adding a ‘Kill Switch’ Option to Prevent Democrats From Turning Impeachment Into Circus

Activate the Kill Switch

Last week, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell finalized rules for the impeachment trial, adding what some defined as a ‘kill switch’ in which the President’s legal team could either move to judgment or move to dismiss at a meaningful time.

The House failed to do their homework and call Bolton to testify in the first place. Bolton’s claims in a book he is setting up for online pre-order contradict the reality behind the transcripts of the telephone call. So, they’re not a game-changer by any stretch. That said, perhaps it’s time to implement the ‘kill switch.’

Seeing Schiff, the Biden’s, and the whistleblower dragged in to testify would be an interesting prospect sure, but the longer this gets dragged out, the longer Democrats and the media will have to continually manufacture new evidence – just as they did with Kavanaugh.

It’s time to stop the madness.

Romney Says He’s ‘Very Likely’ to Join Democrats on Call For New Impeachment Witnesses

Senator Mitt Romney has revealed he’d be in favor of new witnesses being called to testify in the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump.

Romney’s decision comes just prior to controversy over anonymous sources relaying information on a book manuscript by former National Security Advisor John Bolton to the New York Times.

The Times indicates that the manuscript accuses President Trump of withholding military aid to Ukraine until Joe Biden and his son Hunter were properly investigated.

Romney, however, was wavering already and suggesting he’d side with Democrats before the Times published that report.

“I think it’s very likely I’ll be in favor of witnesses, but I haven’t made a decision finally yet and I won’t until the testimony is completed,” the former presidential candidate said on Saturday.

If Romney was in favor of teaming up with Democrats before the Bolton report, he’ll most assuredly be demanding witnesses now.

RELATED: Seven Senators Who May Hold the Key to Trump’s Presidency

Romney Wanted to Hear From Bolton From the Start

Senator Romney was suggesting he’d like to hear from Bolton weeks ago.

“I would like to hear from John Bolton and other witnesses, but at the same time I’m comfortable with the Clinton impeachment model when we have opening arguments first and then we have a vote on whether to have witnesses,” he said.

Democrats would need four Republicans in total to side with them on calling new impeachment witnesses.

Other key individuals that Democrats hope to see defect had listened to the impeachment managers opening arguments and were outraged at the suggestion that if the Senate fails to bend to the whim of their House colleagues they’d be engaged in a “cover-up.”

“I took it as offensive,” Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) said last week. “As one who is listening attentively and working hard to get to a fair process, I was offended.”

Are her offended sensibilities going to outweigh the obvious media collusion with the Bolton revelations?

Aside from Romney and Murkowski, the resistance would also likely need Senators Susan Collins of Maine and Cory Gardner of Colorado to join their side. Collins and Murkowski have, like Romney, been vocal in the idea that they’d be open to new witnesses.

Romney and Political Pressure

Prior to the onset of the impeachment trial, Romney issued a statement explaining his mindset regarding witnesses.

“I have made clear to my colleagues and the public that the Senate should have the opportunity to decide on witnesses following the opening arguments,” he said.

“I will conclude by noting that this is not a situation anyone would wish upon our country,” he continued. “It is difficult, divisive, and further inflames partisan entrenchment. There is inevitable political pressure from all sides.”

The idea that Romney can be so easily swayed from day to day seems to suggest he easily crumbles under that political pressure.

Or is he really being swayed at all? Perhaps this has been the plan all along.

Back in October, Romney hinted that he’d vote to remove the President should impeachment pass in the House of Representatives.

Appearing in an interview with ‘Axios on HBO,’ Romney, according to the outlet, “made it clear that he’s open to voting to remove Trump.”

This is just a continuation of the Senator’s opportunism when it comes to swiping at Trump or praising him when it suits his own needs. Does he smell blood in the water?

ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos Makes Throat-Slitting Gesture On Camera To Cut Away From Trump Lawyer

During an ABC News broadcast on Friday, anchor George Stephanopoulos made a throat-slitting hand movement to cut away from Trump attorney Jay Sekulow during the news outlet’s live coverage of the President’s impeachment trial.

George Stephanopoulos Shows How He Really Feels About Team Trump

Tim Graham, executive editor of NewsBusters, noted that Stephanopoulos could be seen on camera making the gesture at about 3:00 P.M. EST Friday.

The clip showed a Capitol Hill reporter asking Sekulow questions about Attorney General William Barr, Sen. Lindsey Graham, and lawyer Alan Dershowitz all making the argument that abuse of power is impeachable.

“We’ve got something very different from what you’re hearing up here,” Sekulow replied.

RELATED: Trump Attorney: Not Simply Going on Defense, We’re Going to Attack the Democrats

“We’ve got lawyers that will be put forward when our side of the case goes that represents multiple schools of thought on what is an impeachable offense,” Sekulow continued. “They have one thing in common: that the actions alleged and the actions of the president do not reach that level — no matter which school of thought you’re on.”

“We’re not afraid to put out both of those schools of thought because our position is you still have to meet basic, fundamental constitutional obligations and they haven’t,” he added.

BUSTED!

As Sekulow began to take another question, viewers could see Stephanopoulos on camera making a throat-slitting gesture to order the end of the broadcast’s feed. Stephanopoulos then immediately went to a panel segment to discuss the Sekulow’s remarks.

“Dude, we SEE you!” Tim Graham wrote on Twitter.

RELATED: Rand Paul Invites Trump as Guest to Attend Impeachment Trial

“These guys are NOT going to like hearing the Trump side of this trial,” Graham said in his previous tweet.

That might be an understatement!

The mainstream media has been anti-Trump throughout his presidency. The sentiment comes through as subtle bias or explicit hatred for this President.

George Stephanopoulos appeared Friday to show us exactly what he and his news outlet thinks of Team Trump. We already know what they think.

But to see it expressed so explicitly is still a sight to behold. Wow.
