Romney: ‘No Evidence’ To Back Trump’s Election Fraud Claims

On Monday, Republican Senator Mitt Romney argued that there was no evidence that the 2020 presidential election was stolen, as President Donald Trump has claimed.

Sen. Romney made his comments on CNBC’s “The News” with host Shepard Smith, in a segment that also included updates on a possible new round of COVID stimulus.

Romney On Claims Of Election Fraud: ‘No Evidence Of It’

Smith noted Attorney General William Barr’s resignation by saying, “He’s claiming fraud, senator, and there’s no evidence of it. Bill Barr didn’t go along with it, and now he’s out.”

Romney replied, “Yeah, well, Bill Barr drew the line. I credit him with once you draw the line, if someone steps over it, you say ‘Okay, that’s the consequence.’ So he’s leaving.”

Both men seem to imply that Barr’s resignation has something to do with Trump’s belief that there was rampant election fraud, but there is no evidence to support that claim as Barr’s motive.

Shepard Smith To Romney: ‘How Much Damage Is The President Doing To Democracy?’

Former Fox News anchor Smith then suggested President Trump was undermining America’s democratic principles.

Smith asked Romney, “How much damage is the president doing to democracy trying to overturn the will of the people?”

Romney responded, “The biggest concern that I have is that people here genuinely believe that somehow this election was stolen, and there’s not evidence of that.”

“The president was saying it was stolen even before election day happened!” Romney said. “He said if he loses, it would be fraud.”

“Well, no one knows that,” Romney continued. “I thought I was going to win too when I ran for president in 2012. I didn’t. I didn’t go out and say fraud.”

“We have a process,” Romney said. “We count the votes. That’s the way it is.”

Romney Thinks President Trump’s Leadership Is A Bad Example To The World

Romney would add, “I’m concerned that the cause of democracy here as well as around the world — people look to us. We’re the democratic leader of the world.”

The Utah senator then took another dig at Trump.

“What’s going on now, I’m afraid, is terribly dispiriting to people all around the globe,” Romney insisted.

Romney has long been an outspoken “Never Trumper.”

In 2016, Romney launched an unprecedented attack on his party’s front-runner for the Presidential nomination:

Romney was also the only Republican Senator to vote to convict President Trump during his impeachment.

Why The 2020 Election Was Neither Free Nor Fair

By Joel B. Pollak for RealClearPolitics

The 2020 presidential election was neither free nor fair

Much of the debate has focused on the question of “voter fraud” — whether alleged violations of the rules moved enough votes in key states to overturn the outcome, or whether speculative theories about hacked voting machines and software should be taken seriously.

These claims remain unproven.

But while voting is the most important event in an election, it is not the only event, but the culmination of a process.

There are common international standards about what makes an election “free and fair.”

RELATED: Texas Files Supreme Court Lawsuit Against Battleground States For ‘Unconstitutional’ Election Law Changes

These criteria, summarized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union, include: the “absolute” right to a secret ballot; the right to “express political opinions without interference; [t]o seek, receive and impart information and to make an informed choice”; the right of candidates to “equal opportunity of access to the media”; the “right of candidates to security”; freedom of association, and others.

Many of these were violated in 2020.

“Fraud” was not as important as what Democrats were able to accomplish legally, for example, by pushing the country to adopt vote-by-mail on a massive scale.

The scientific basis for doing so was always dubious. South Korea and Israel both had national elections at the height of the pandemic in March and April, and both used in-person voting, almost exclusively.

Neither could be accused of a lax approach to COVID-19.

Never before had the country adopted an entirely new system of voting in the middle of an election, at the urging of one party, and over the objections of the other.

Democrats also sued to lower the safeguards against fraud in absentee ballots.

The attorney leading many of those lawsuits, Marc Elias of Perkins Coie, was also the key figure in hiring Fusion GPS to produce the fraudulent “Russia dossier” in an attempt to smear Donald Trump in the 2016 election.

RELATED: GOP Lawmakers Demand Bill Barr Perform A Forensic Audit Of The Election

Democrats preferred vote-by-mail because it allowed them to turn out low-propensity voters.

Republicans preferred voting in person — the standard practice worldwide — partly because of an attachment to tradition, but also because many Republican voters did not trust that mail-in ballots would remain secret or would be delivered at all by postal workers whose union had backed Democrat Joe Biden.

Republicans turned out voters; Democrats turned out envelopes.

Beyond that unfair advantage to Democrats, there were flagrant abuses of the principles that make an election free and fair.

Political violence was widespread, carried out almost entirely by left-wing groups alongside Black Lives Matter protests. Though most protests were peaceful, hundreds were not.

Forty-eight of the 50 largest U.S. cities experienced riots, as did many smaller towns.

Democrats minimized the violence and blamed police, or the president, for the unrest.

With the riots came a national panic that came to be known as “cancel culture.”

Conservatives feared speaking out lest they lose their jobs, their social media accounts, or their lives. A poll in July revealed that 77% of Republicans were afraid to share their political views.

RELATED: Hillary Clinton Warns Liberals That President Trump Is “Not Going Away”

The extreme bias of the mainstream media also suppressed conservative and pro-Trump views.

Media fact-checkers cast Trump as a liar while ignoring Biden’s lies about Charlottesville and much else.

The 2020 election also featured unprecedented censorship. Google manipulated its search algorithm to bury conservative news.

Facebook and Twitter suppressed debate about the coronavirus.

In October, when the New York Post published credible allegations about Hunter Biden’s laptop and emails, which exposed Joe Biden’s past dissembling, Twitter and Facebook both censored the story.

Mainstream media applauded the censorship, and demanded more.

Other factors also made the 2020 election unfree and unfair.

The Commission on Presidential Debates was stacked against Trump, with one moderator caught conspiring with a prominent Trump critic.

An election-year impeachment, based on claims by a “whistleblower” whose very name was censored voluntarily by the press, cast the president as illegitimate.

Former military leaders, like Admiral William McRaven (Ret.), called for his removal, “the sooner, the better.”

Most of these abuses were legal. That is why the results of the election cannot simply be set aside.

When laws were broken — as in the nationwide riots — voters arguably delivered their own verdict, punishing Democratic candidates for the violence and for the party’s waffling on “defund the police.”

But we cannot pretend that what happened in 2020 was acceptable. It leaves many Republicans convinced that the system is “rigged” — even against a “red wave.”

We need to make urgent changes.

If vote-by-mail cannot be reversed, it must be made more secure, or replaced with a secure, 100% American, and politically independent remote voting system.

Political parties must condemn violence unequivocally.

Big Tech must lose its immunity under Section 230, which it has abused. The Commission on Presidential Debates should be replaced.

Above all, “free and fair” must be the standard to which American elections are held.

Trump Snaps At ‘Lightweight’ Reporter: ‘Don’t Ever Talk to the President That Way’

President Trump snapped at a reporter who tried interjecting on his comments about the election, referring to him as a “lightweight” and demanding he shows some respect.

The reporter has been identified in multiple outlets as Reuters White House correspondent Jeff Mason.

The media is portraying it as a meltdown when, in reality, it was a proper reminder to reporters who have shown zero respect for the President of the United States over the past four years exactly where they sit on the food chain.

Trump began with an observation that Biden’s election performance is remarkable in crucial swing states compared to Barack Obama’s past election performances, a fact that raises eyebrows in his view.

RELATED: Report: Media’s Biased Coverage of the Election May Have Handed the Presidency to Biden

Trump Snaps at Lightweight Reporter Jeff Mason

Mason began by asking the President if he’d be willing to concede the election should the Electoral College votes for Biden.

“Just so you understand, this election was a fraud,” he said.

“They have Biden beating Obama in areas that matter in terms of the election in swing states.  And yet he’s losing to Obama all over the place,” Trump continued. “But he’s beating Obama in swing states which are states that mattered in terms of the election.”

Mason tried interrupting the President which didn’t work out too well for him. Trump quickly snaps back at the reporter over his lack of respect.

“Don’t talk to me that way,” Trump scolded. “You’re just a lightweight. Don’t talk to me that way. Don’t talk to …”

“I’m the President of the United States. Don’t ever talk to the president that way,” he continued before shifting to another question.

Trump’s Touchy Relationship With a Biased, Unprofessional Media

President Trump has had to repeatedly battle a biased, unprofessional media that stands as perhaps one of the most corrupt institutions in America today.

At a press conference earlier this year, CNN reporter Jim Acosta claimed his network’s reputation “on delivering the truth is a lot better than yours.”

The President wrecked him on a national stage.

Acosta, of course, struggled to recall the fact that his network had to settle a massive lawsuit with Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann after the cable news station smeared him as a racist for the crime of wearing a MAGA hat.

Or the fact that CNN once had a ‘journalist of the year’ forced to resign at another outlet after it was discovered he fabricated his stories “on a grand scale” for many years.

Or the fact that three of their reporters had to leave the network after the publication of a ‘fake news’ report on Russia that was later retracted.

Or the fact that they blatantly helped doctor a call transcript with Ukraine to help fuel impeachment.

Or the numerous other stories that were proven to be false.

There have been other reporters at other outlets that the President has had to put in their place.

A Yahoo News reporter in April was on the receiving end of a verbal tongue-lashing when he tried to corner the President with false data about coronavirus testing.

President Trump had to tell CNN reporter Jeremy Diamond that his network is “fake news” and explained to the reporter he was sorely lacking in a major area.

PBS reporter Yamiche Alcindor was on the receiving end of several testy retorts by the President over the years.

A study conducted by the Media Research Center recently shows biased media coverage very likely tilted the election in favor of President-elect Joe Biden.

President Trump has repeatedly warned Americans that the media is the “enemy of the people.”

They’ve more than proven him right over the past four years.

What If Biden Were Seeking Recounts? We Know Exactly What Would Happen

By J Peder Zane for RealClearPolitics

Imagine if Joe Biden had enjoyed a healthy lead on election night only to see it evaporate as the numbers dripped in from Republican strongholds.

Does anyone believe the mainstream media would have rushed to anoint Donald Trump the winner?

Would the New York Times, Washington Post, NPR and other outlets have cast the inevitable Democrat demands for ballot reviews and recounts as a constitutional crisis or would they have run wall-to-wall coverage about the inherent problems associated with mail-in ballots?

RELATED: Trump Campaign Files For Recount In Two Democrat-Leaning Wisconsin Counties

We don’t have to imagine the answer – just recall 2016 when the same liberal news organizations that are damning Trump as a tyrant and suggesting he might be planning a coup cheered and facilitated Democrat efforts to delegitimize Trump’s victory by claiming he was a crooked businessman who had colluded with Vladimir Putin to steal the election.

After early efforts failed to convince electors to defy the will of their states and cast their ballots for Hillary Clinton, talk turned to impeachment before Trump was even sworn in.

On the morning of his inauguration – which was boycotted by several dozen Democrat members of Congress because, as Rep. Jerrold Nadler said, he was not “legally elected” – a Washington Post article reported, “The campaign to impeach President Trump has begun.”

Democrats and their media allies fulfilled that promise, spending the next three years using salacious smears funded by the Clinton campaign to claim Trump was Putin’s puppet.

RELATED: Arizona GOP Chairwoman Kelli Ward: Election ‘Will Ultimately Be Decided In Favor Of President Trump’

When Special Counsel Robert Mueller dismissed that conspiracy theory in March 2019, Democrats impeached Trump on other grounds that did not include high crimes or misdemeanors.

At a May 2019 event, Biden agreed with a woman who said Trump was “an illegitimate president.” A month later, former President Jimmy Carter said the same.

Nothing in our history has done more to destroy norms and undercut the rule of law.

This history does not bolster Trump’s claims that massive voter irregularities caused his 2020 defeat – though we owe it to our country to review the results from this highly unusual election.

It does suggest that one reason millions of Americans are skeptical about Biden’s victory is the insistence of a highly partisan media that he won fair and square – no questions asked.

Presidents come and go, but the media is forever. The transformation of leading news outlets from liberal voices into propaganda arms of the left may be the most consequential legacy of the Trump era.

RELATED: Rudy Giuliani, Trump Campaign Level Massive Allegations Against Election Results In Press Conference

It’s not surprising that the media so causally compares Trump to Hitler while branding Republicans as racists – these are now articles of faith among the leftists they support. This is apparently what they believe.

Gallup polls illustrate the partisan shift. During the Obama years about 55% of Democrats felt the “mass media” reported the news “fully, accurately, and fairly.” About 30% of Republicans agreed.

In 2017 the number of approving Democrats rose to 72% – where it has roughly stayed – while the number of approving Republicans dropped to just 14% in 2016 and is now at 10%.

No doubt many Democrats tell themselves they are reality-based while Republicans have been brainwashed by Trump’s “fake news” lies.

RELATED: Poll Shows Over Half of Republicans Believe The Election Was ‘Rigged’ And Trump ‘Rightfully Won’

But that position is hard to defend given the Trump/Russia fiction they perpetrated, the ugly accusations they launched against Brett Kavanaugh during his Supreme Court confirmation hearings, and the contempt with which they view those who disagree with them.

Free nations need an honest press. We no longer have one. Heaven help us.

Bette Midler Curses Out Kayleigh McEnany: ‘Go F*** Yourself’

Outspoken Hollywood liberal Bette Midler told Kayleigh McEnany to “go f*** herself,” after the White House Press Secretary shared news about the Wayne County Board of Canvassers’ decision in Michigan.

The board has been mired in a battle over certifying the votes in Detroit.

Midler mocked McEnany’s Harvard Law degree in a Wednesday tweet, “With all due respect, Kayleigh, go f*** yourself. IMHO, Harvard has a lot to answer for.”

RELATED: Bette Midler Calls On Biden To Kick Trump ‘In The Nuts’ During First Debate For ‘200,000 People He Murdered’

The Wayne County Board Is Fighting To NOT Certify Detroit Results

Originally the Wayne County Board of Canvassers decided to not certify the results in parts of Detroit, where the poll books were unbalanced.

But the board surprised everyone with a reversal of that decision late Tuesday, unanimously voting to certify the count.

Now, with the Republican members of the board reversing themselves and refusing to certify, Kayleigh McEnany noted that board members only changed their original decision after they were accused of being racists by Democrats.

Responding to a tweet by far-left Democratic Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, McEnany wrote, “Last night the Wayne County Board of Canvassers refused to certify the election results, citing irregularities (which are documented in 234 pages of affidavits).

She added, “Then came the typical barrage of leftist threats & cries of racism from the Squad, the failed Governor, and others…”

Bette Midler Has Been A Raging Maniac For A Long Time

Midler has a long history of coming unhinged over President Trump.

After he was acquitted on all impeachment charges by the U.S. Senate in February, the Hollywood liberal let loose.

Midler rage tweeted, ““HE PINNED THIS. YOU THINK THIS IS A JOKE, DON’T YOU? IT’S NOT. HE MEANS IT.”

The maniacal tweet continued, “HE WILL CHANGE THE RULES AND HIS ENABLERS WILL LET HIM. IF HE WINS AGAIN, HE WILL RULE YOU UNTIL HE DIES, YOU DIE, OR BOTH. THEN…YOU’LL GET IVANKA.”

Midler Leveled Xenophobic Insults Against First Lady Melania Trump

In August, Midler referred to the foreign born First Lady Melania Trump as an “illegal alien.”

“#beBest is back! A UGE bore!,” Midler wrote. She can speak several words in a few languages.”

“Get that illegal alien off the stage!,” she added.

RELATED: Bette Midler Hammered After Mocking Melania Trump’s Accent, Calling Her An ‘Illegal Alien’

Apparently bigotry and xenophobia are okay if its a leftist using these slurs against a Trump.

Regardless of how the election turns out, President Trump has at least a month-and-a-half in office left.

Don’t expect this to be the last we hear of the sad and pathetic Bette Midler.

CNN: Conservatives Leaving Facebook And Twitter For Parler Is A ‘Threat To Democracy’

In CNN’s analysis of how conservative voters are handling the presidential election results, reporter Pamela Brown said that conservatives leaving social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook over speech suppression was a “threat to democracy.”

CNN’s Brian Stelter complained about smaller right-leaning news channels, like Newsmax, getting more viewers recently as conservatives hammer Fox News over its election coverage and what they view as anti-Trump bias.

RELATED: Meghan McCain Confronts CNN Host Brian Stelter On His Network’s Many Failings

Stelter: Conservatives Leaving Facebook And Twitter For ‘Safer Space’

Stelter said to Brown, “I think, big picture, Pamela, here is the concerning trend line here. People are going more and more into their own echo chambers, more into their own bubbles, especially Trump voters.”

“There’s this new social media app, called Parler, getting a lot of attention,” Stelter continued.

He added, “Because conservatives are leaving, saying they’re leaving Twitter and Facebook, going off to Parler because they believe Parler is a safer space for them.”

“What we’re seeing is even more of a bunker mentality in right-wing media,” Stelter said.“Ultimately, that’s not good for the country.”

That’s when Brown associated freedom of speech and choice with undermining democratic values.

“No, it is not good,” Brown responded (emphasis added). “It is a threat to democracy that these people are in echo chambers and they’re getting fed a diet of lies essentially.”

CNN Is An Echo Chamber

That’s rich.

The freedoms enshrined in our Bill of Rights are not threats to democracy.

The freedom of speech. Freedom of the press. Freedom of association. None of these are threats to democracy.

It’s the exact opposite. Suppression of these freedoms is a threat to democracy.

And really, is there a bigger echo chamber than CNN?

For years, Americans were constantly bombarded with “new” or “breaking” “information” that all supposedly pointed to Donald Trump allegedly colluding with Russia to throw the 2016 presidential election his way.

Then the Mueller report ended up as a huge nothingburger. Did the media ever apologize for it?

Impeachment was not an issue in this election. If Joe Biden even said it once, most missed it.

Fake News Is A Threat To Democracy

But fake claims about collusion is what animated the Democratic Party for most of Trump’s presidency.

When an entire major political party defines itself by a fantasy of their own making, that’s a bubble.

And save for (sometimes) Fox News and alternative news outlets, the mainstream media protected that bubble.

We all live in our own bubbles to some extent. CNN tries to present its bubble as truth.

Some might call that a threat to democracy.

Hillary Clinton has to be tired of waiting 4 years for the country to realize she was right

Hillary Clinton called it four years ago when she pointed out then-Republican nominee Donald Trump’s propensity to cry system rigging when he happened to face an undesired result. "You know, every time Donald thinks things are not going in his direction, he claims whatever it is is rigged against him," she said during the final presidential debate of 2016. "He lost the Iowa caucus. He lost the Wisconsin primary. He said the Republican primary was rigged against him. Then Trump University gets sued for fraud and racketeering; he claims the court system and the federal judge is rigged against him. There was even a time when he didn't get an Emmy for his TV program three years in a row and he started tweeting that the Emmys were rigged against him. This, this is a mindset. This is how Donald thinks, and it's funny. But it's also really troubling."

Most of us are seeing the “really troubling” part now amid Trump’s effort and Republican leaders’ collective blind eye to discrediting Trump’s election loss to President-elect Joe Biden. Former national security advisor John Bolton said Sunday on ABC's "This Week," Trump isn’t exactly acting out of character, so it’s time for other Republicans to start setting a better example. “It's critical for other Republican leaders to stand up and explain what actually happened: Donald Trump lost what, by any evidence we have so far, was a free and fair election,” Bolton said.

I remember with great detail when the former secretary of state had to concede the 2016 election to a reality TV star. I can't imagine the humility that took, but she did it. Trump at least gets to concede to a former vice president, but he’s making no such concession by his account. He’s instead taken to his usual name-calling and alleging that the election was “rigged” against him.

“John Bolton was one of the dumbest people in government that I’ve had the ‘pleasure’ to work with,” the president tweeted Sunday. “A sullen, dull and quiet guy, he added nothing to National Security except, ‘Gee, let’s go to war.’ Also, illegally released much Classified Information. A real dope!”

— ABC News (@ABC) November 15, 2020

That “dope” has been through five presidential transitions, Bolton pointed out on Twitter. “...and every day that he delays under the pretense that he's simply asking for his legal remedies ultimately is to the country's disadvantage,” Bolton said of the president.

In an interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria, Bolton also negated the previously floated theory that accepting the election results would cost Republican leaders too high a political price. "Well, I have trust in the Republican voters. I believe that if their leaders explain to them that Trump lost fair and square, and that the facts do not support his claims that the election was stolen, that they will come to accept it,” Bolton said. “But if they only hear from Donald Trump it’s not unnatural for them to think, ‘since nobody else on our side of the aisle is disagreeing that what he’s saying is accurate,’ and I think that lays the basis for real distrust in the system, casting doubt on the integrity of our electoral system, the constitutional process.”

— CNN (@CNN) November 15, 2020

Bolton’s not wrong, a bit hypocritical considering he wasn’t exactly willing to take a step outside of party lines to divulge details that could’ve been useful during Trump’s impeachment hearings. Then, he was perfectly content solely dangling knowledge of the president’s alleged quid pro quo to promote sales of his book, but now he’s calling on the same Republicans he mimicked in cowardice to risk themselves to acknowledge the truth. Something in me says it just doesn’t work that way, but I’ll admit it would be nice. "We need Republicans to tell the truth too,” Bolton said. “It's not that hard." Apparently, it is.

Lindsey Graham Announces Donation of $500,000 Towards Trump Campaign’s Election Legal Battle

Senator Lindsey Graham announced he would be donating $500,000 to the Trump campaign’s legal battle to contest vote counts in several swing states.

The president’s campaign has refused to concede the election as they pursue litigation in states in which they are disputing the validity of a number of ballots.

Graham boldly declared late Thursday that he is “here tonight to stand with President Trump” because it was the President who helped him retain his Senate seat.

“He stood with me; he’s the reason we’re gonna have a Senate majority. My race was overwhelming. He helped Senate Republicans,” a thankful Graham stated.

“We’re gonna pick up House seats because of the campaign that President Trump won.”

Lindsey Graham Donation For President Trump’s Campaign

Graham’s stand with the President was a welcome move after others have seemingly abandoned Trump or have simply turned an ignorant blind eye to the possibility of fraud playing a part in the election.

Former New Jersey governor Chris Christie, who has an extensive history of turning tail when a difficult challenge presents itself, blasted Trump over his recent rhetoric regarding a stolen election.

“We heard nothing today about any evidence,” Christie said.

“This kind of thing, all it does is inflame without informing. And we cannot permit inflammation without information.”

The Political Insider’s Chris Barron directly confronted jelly-spined Republicans like Christie in a recent column.

“Either you stand with the overwhelming majority of your party in demanding that every single legally cast ballot is counted,” Barron challenged, “or you stand against them.”

The FEW Republicans Standing Up For Trump

With the exception of Graham, there have been very few Republicans speaking up in defense of the President.

Ronny Jackson, a former White House doctor who won his race to represent Texas’s 13th Congressional District, urged Republicans to stand up and fight for the man who helped them win across the board in Tuesday’s election.

“RINOs in the Republican Party need to STAND UP for President Trump and fight back against the Democrats and their election fraud,” he tweeted. “This election is too important!”

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) compared the lack of faith in this year’s election to a ‘third impeachment’ attempt by Democrats.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) defended the President’s efforts to protect election integrity and slammed Fox News for their terrible election night call of Arizona.

Rep. Paul Gosar has been on the front lines in Arizona as the contentious counting battle continues to wage.

Turning a blind eye to what is happening and has happened to President Trump for four years is a recipe for disaster for the Republican Party in the future.

At least there is still a handful of Republicans out there with the spine to fight back.

Hundreds of thousands joined group aiming to overturn election results before Facebook cracked down

Facebook apparently took down a “Stop the Steal” group accusing Democrats of trying to “nullify Republican votes” and steal the election—but not until the group had gotten hundreds of thousands of members, directing them to an outside page to maintain strength when Facebook did shut it down.

What’s more, the takedown didn’t come until after there were multiple thinly veiled calls to violence and after Mother Jones reported the group’s ties to Republican operatives, making it look a whole lot like an astroturf operation.

That outside website that “Stop the Steal” used Facebook to funnel people to was registered by a conservative digital consulting firm, Liberty Lab. Stop the Steal’s website and Facebook page also suggest links to the group “Women for America First,” which is led by the former chief executive of the Tea Party Express. Women for America First was started to protest Trump’s impeachment.

Facebook’s policy on post-election claims would seem to bar Stop the Steal on multiple grounds, and apparently the company did conclude that it couldn’t host that. Just not until the group had hundreds of thousands of members. In moments like these, it’s always worth remembering that Joel Kaplan, Facebook's vice president of global public policy, was a key participant in the 2000 Brooks Brothers riot.
