Meghan McCain Shuts Down Whoopi Goldberg When She Tries To Compare Mitt Romney To John McCain

By PopZette Staff | February 6, 2020

An awkward moment took place on the ABC talk show “The View” this morning when Whoopi Goldberg tried to compare Mitt Romney, R-UT., to the late Arizona Senator John McCain. She was then immediately shut down by her cohost Meghan McCain, the deceased Republican’s daughter.

On Wednesday, Romney was the only Republican senator to break party lines by voting to convict President Trump on impeachment charges. While “The View’s” panel discussed this, Goldberg said that Romney’s actions reminded her of McCain.

“I’m just glad somebody stood up and said ‘no,’” Goldberg said. ”I’m going to give faith in him like I gave to your dad.”

Meghan, however, was not having any of it.

“With all due respect, Mitt Romney is nothing like my dad,” she fired back.

Undeterred, Goldberg continued to try and make this point, saying Romney deserves the same credit McCain would have gotten.

“I don’t agree with Mitt Romney but he stood up in a way that nobody else has, except for your dad,” Goldberg said.

“Don’t put all your bets on Romney right now, he will break your heart like he always does,” Meghan replied.

“I’m 63 years old,” Goldberg said to her cohost. “I have been going through this with these people for years.”

McCain then said that it was “very dismissive” for Goldberg to bring up age.

“I don’t know what my age has to do with my political perspective right now. I just don’t think it’s very nice,” she told the liberal.

The two continued to go back and forth until their cohost Joy Behar interrupted to say that she “hates” Trump. How original!

Considering the fact that Romney betrayed the entire Republican Party yesterday due to his own jealousy and bitterness, it’s understandable that Meghan does not want him being compared to her father. Shame on Goldberg for trying to make this comparison, and good for Meghan for not letting her get away with it.

Latest Democratic Excuse For Iowa Debacle Is… It’s Trump’s Fault

By David Kamioner | February 6, 2020

Apparently, according to the Democrats, President Trump is all seeing and all knowing. Because that would be the only way he could be held responsible for the complete catastrophe that was the Iowa Democratic caucuses.

But because blaming the president has become an autonomic function for Democrats, some of them are putting out a fantasy retelling of the Iowa mishap that blames Donald Trump for the assisted suicide that was the Democratic Party contest.

RELATED: MSNBC Hosts Caught on Hot Mic Trashing Dems

It reminds me of the reaction pals of mine had to the film “The DaVinci Code.” I had relatively recently converted to Roman Catholicism and rather gullible friends took the fun but silly fiction as close to fact in regards to the Vatican.

In the movie, Paul Bettany plays an albino Vatican assassin named Silas who goes about killing enemies of the honchos of the RC Church. When certain associates asked how I could join a faith that probably had albino hit men, I gave them the same response I have to the possibility that the president remotely wrecked the Democratic Iowa caucuses.

If only…

The new excuse for the debacle is based around the completely uncorroborated report that evil Trump elves flooded phone lines reserved for Democratic precinct chairs with calls that praised the president. This then held up all results because the proper people could not get through to report their data.

Uh huh, sure.

Interestingly, they must have missed reports that the app used in the caucus voting was developed by former Clinton staffers and that the firm that owns the app has an executive that is the spouse of a top Buttigieg aide. News of that, of course, has sent the Sanders people into ballistic orbits of justified paranoia.

The very latest data on the Iowa misadventure is that Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez wants a mulligan and advocates doing the whole thing again.

RELATED: CNN Ratings Continue to Struggle, Fox News Gets a Huge Boost From Impeachment Trial

He tweeted on Thursday, “Enough is enough. In light of the problems that have emerged in the implementation of the delegate selection plan and in order to assure public confidence in the results, I am calling on the Iowa Democratic Party to immediately begin a recanvass.”

Too little too late, Tom. The 2020 Iowa Democratic caucuses will go down as yet more proof, as if any more was needed, that state and national Democrats are not up to successfully running a simple ballot contest, much less the United States of America.

Manchin Is A Political Dead Man Walking

By David Kamioner | February 6, 2020

Years ago I went to a great winter resort in West Virginia. Along with smoking cigars and drinking bourbon, I sampled some of the down home culinary delights.

But throughout the entire sumptuous country breakfast inventory I did not witness even one example of a piece of toast that walks and talks. That is, until I saw Joe Manchin making a Senate floor speech on impeachment.

Not trusted by the Democrats because he votes with the Republicans too much. Manchin is a Democrat who only reluctantly endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2016. Those factors made him a pariah in his own party. He only won 2018 reelection over his GOP opponent by less than 20,000 votes out of over 560,000 cast. That works out to a too close for comfort 0.3% margin of victory in a deep red Trump state.

RELATED: Nancy Pelosi RIPS Donald Trump’s Speech in Half After His SOTU Speech

Without those Trump crossovers in 2024 he will become, as mentioned above, a warm breakfast morsel. Thus, his vote to convict the president and remove him from office currently all but guarantees Manchin’s defeat in four years.

However, his pariah status has been somewhat mitigated by the fact that as he voted with the GOP much of the time he was treated as a fifth Beatle on occasion by the president and Mitch McConnell. Even with this vote that might have continued, after a decent interval, if Manchin had not sent out mixed signals on his vote.

Just a couple of days before the Wednesday impeachment votes he told the press he preferred a Senate censure of the president to conviction. He claimed that could get a bipartisan majority. A censure is an essentially toothless slap on the wrist from one politician to another.

When asked, given he was asking for an alternative to removal from office, if he would vote to convict the president he hemmed and hawed. The press, including this analyst, and GOP senators took that as a trial balloon and publicly put him in the leaning towards acquittal category. Manchin did not dissuade them.

And then he voted to convict.

RELATED: CNN Ratings Continue to Struggle, Fox News Gets a Huge Boost From Impeachment Trial

Democrats breathed a small sigh of relief but Republicans felt sold out. The consequence of his guilty vote is that Manchin will go from being the GOP’s favorite Democrat to just another palooka to be crushed.

All for a vote he knew the Democrats couldn’t win anyway. Just like your 2016 endorsement of Hillary Clinton that you admitted was a dumb move, this one will cost you, Joe.

This time, it will cost you your Senate seat.

Rosie O’Donnell, Other Hollywood Liberals Praise Mitt Romney For Voting To Convict Trump

By PopZette Staff | February 6, 2020

Eight years ago, Mitt Romney was seen as the devil by Hollywood liberals as he was the Republican nominee in the 2012 presidential election. Now, however, Hollywood liberals have changed their tune about Romney after he was the only Republican senator to vote to convict President Donald Trump on impeachment charges yesterday.

Radical Hollywood liberals have been taking to Twitter in droves to praise Romney in the past 24 hours. One such liberal is Rosie O’Donnell, who has been in a bitter feud with Trump for over a decade. She wrote, “thank u @SenatorRomney for voting to convict – one republican with honor #ConvictAndRemove.”

Former “Who’s The Boss” star Alyssa Milano, who has become more famous in recent years for her radical anti-Trump activism than she ever was for her acting, also had words of praise for Romney.

“Thank you for doing what’s right, @MittRomney. History will remember you as a decent, courageous, man among cowards and fools,” she tweeted.

John Cusack, one of the most radically anti-Trump actors in Hollywood, simply wrote, “Romney tells the truth.”

“Incredible,” wrote former “The West Wing” star Bradley Whitford. “The radical idea that an elected official must put their oath to uphold the constitution above what’s most convenient for them politically. Thank you @MittRomney.  Let’s help him blow this spark of decency into a fire that engulfs the madness of hatred and division.”

Even Bette Midler, who frequently attacks conservatives on her Twitter page, shared her love for Romney following his vote.

“Romney made a great speech, logical, well reasoned, emotional and true,” she tweeted. “It honestly looks as if #Romney is the ONLY person of courage in the entire party.  THAT’S THE REAL OUTRAGE.”

When Romney ran for president against Barack Obama eight years ago, he could do nothing right in the eyes of the Hollywood left. They are only praising him now because he shamelessly catered to them by voting to convict Trump out of sheer bitterness and jealousy. As President Trump himself would say: SAD!

It’s Back To Work For The GOP And The President

By David Kamioner | February 6, 2020

Now that the impeachment saga has come to a close the administration and its GOP congressional cohorts can go back to doing what they were elected to do: run the country.

While the Republican members of the House are for now outnumbered in that chamber, there are deals that can be worked out with House Democrats and sent to the GOP Senate for approval and subsequent presidential signature.

There are other issues, like federal judicial appointments, that thankfully are solely in the hands of the president and the Republican Senate.

The president will continue to send qualified conservative jurists to that body for a vote. His impressive total of 191 federal judicial appointments so far in his administration has done amazing things like turning the formerly notoriously leftist 9th Circuit Court into a solid shade of conservative red.

RELATED: Nancy Pelosi RIPS Donald Trump’s Speech in Half After His SOTU Speech

And to paraphrase Trump, the fun is just beginning.

The president mentioned in the SOTU that infrastructure was on his mind. Like the recent USMCA trade deal with Canada and Mexico, he may be able to get a big bill on infrastructure through the Democratic House because Big Labor will pressure Pelosi to pass it.

The bill would bring billions in federal dollars to the construction and transportation industries and create a great number of jobs. The only reason it wouldn’t pass is because Pelosi may not want to see the president get the credit for it in an election year.

Spite before economic progress, the modern Democratic Party creed.

Under the general infrastructure umbrella there is an actually bipartisan highway bill that the Senate Public Works Committee advanced last July. It hasn’t got to the floor for a vote as of yet. The current five year highway transportation bill expires at the end of September 2020.

RELATED: CNN Ratings Continue to Struggle, Fox News Gets a Huge Boost From Impeachment Trial

The president will continue to push for funds for the border wall and border security. Democrats may compromise somewhat on this as they know both measures evoke poll numbers that range into the 70 percentiles in support.

Dem proposals that are DOA in the Senate include net neutrality, universal background checks on gun sales, and funding to burn down the Reichstag.

I kinda made that last one up.

GOP Senators Ask For Records On Hunter Biden From Secret Service

By PoliZette Staff | February 6, 2020

Senators Chuck Grassley, (R-IA.),  and Ron Johnson (R-WI.), sent a formal letter to Secret Service Director James Murray on Wednesday asking his agency to release details on Hunter Biden’s use of government security and travel accommodations during the time his father Joe Biden was the Vice President of Barack Obama.

Grassley is chairman of the Finance Committee, while Johnson leads the Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs, according to The Blaze. Both of these committees are “reviewing potential conflicts of interest posed” by Biden’s business dealings in Ukraine and China, and they would like to know whether taxpayer dollars were a factor in fostering these relationships.

RELATED: MSNBC Hosts Caught on Hot Mic Trashing Dems

In their letter, the senators requested that the Secret Service:

1. Please provide the protective detail that Hunter Biden received while his father was Vice President.

2. Please provide a list of all dates and locations of travel, international and domestic, for Hunter Biden while he received a protective detail. In your response, please note whether his travel was on Air Force One or Two, or other government aircraft, as applicable and whether additional family members were present for each trip.

Grassley and Johnson sent their letter to the Secret Service right after Donald Trump was acquitted by the Senate on Wednesday, and they have asked that their committees be provided with the records by February 19.

“In addition to several letters that the committees have sent to other agencies as part of that inquiry, the Committee on Finance also has written to the Department of Treasury regarding potential conflicts of interest in the Obama-era CFIUS approved transaction which gave control of Henniges, an American maker of anti-vibration technologies with military applications, to a Chinese government-owned aviation company and China-based investment firm with established ties to the Chinese government,” the letter stated, according to Daily Wire. “That transaction included Rosemont Seneca Partners, a company formed in 2009 by Hunter Biden, Christopher Heinz, and others.”

The letter went on to explain that the senators were asking for specific information “about whether Hunter Biden used government-sponsored travel to help conduct private business, to include his work for Rosemont Seneca and related entities in China and Ukraine.”

RELATED: CNN Ratings Continue to Struggle, Fox News Gets a Huge Boost From Impeachment Trial

“In addition to business dealings in China, Hunter Biden also served as a board member for Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy company,” the letter said. “In April 2014, around the time Hunter Biden joined Burisma, Vice President Biden reportedly became the ‘public face of the administration’s handling of Ukraine.’ It is unclear whether Hunter Biden received government sponsored travel or a protective detail for these endeavors.”

It has become increasingly clear that the Biden family is as crooked as they come. At the very least, these records need to be released to the Secret Service so that the public can learn just how far their corruption has gone.

New Hampshire primary critical to the survival of several Democrat candidates

By David Kamioner | February 6, 2020

Like in any proper election analysis, the calls are the political equivalent of an NFL pregame show. You look at the teams, the players, the point spread, and the injured lists. Then you make your prediction.

So, here we go. Welcome to the New Hampshire playoffs.

In a straight primary where raw votes matter more than anything else Sanders has got to be the favorite. His kiddie brigade will help him there, as will his status as a fellow New Englander.

He beat the tar out of Hillary Clinton in the state in 2016 and went on to other big victories in the primary season. But now as then it doesn’t matter, as he gets the big nod no way no how as long as the Hillary types still run the party.

Pete Buttigieg will do well. New Hampshire loves a new outsider, like it took a shine to Sanders last time around. His perceived moderation will play well with the approximately 30% of New Hampshire Democrats who see themselves in the middle and his boyish mien will excite the old lady set.

He is riding a wave from Iowa and that should energize his donor base and his ground game.

RELATED: Nancy Pelosi RIPS Donald Trump’s Speech in Half After His SOTU Speech

Elizabeth Warren has a shot at coming in second. She is also from New England, appeals to the worst sort of females (and the Democrats sport those in hordes), and has been on the ground in the state for awhile. But the feeling in DC is she peaked too early and is now playing for a veep slot.

Joe Biden must take first or second place here or be at serious risk of losing the whole thing. With his pedigree and establishment support anything less than number two here is poison.

If he were to drop out that could set up a Hillary scenario and a Hillary-Bernie rematch. The GOP imagination and political palate salivate just thinking about it.

RELATED: CNN Ratings Continue to Struggle, Fox News Gets a Huge Boost From Impeachment Trial

Also rans like Yang, Klobuchar, and Steyer have to finish in the top three or they will be out of the race soon. Well, granted, Steyer has the cash to stay in for a bit.

And speaking of cash, now gaining a higher profile due to massive ad buys and waiting for them all on Super Tuesday is Mike Bloomberg.

The plot thickens…

Biden Takes Major Hit in Iowa

By David Kamioner | February 6, 2020

It wasn’t too long ago that some seasoned political analysts, including this one, thought Joe Biden had a good shot to win the Iowa Democratic caucuses.

Boy, were we wrong.

He not only lost but got relegated to fourth place behind Buttigieg, Sanders, and Warren.

This is a man who has been in the Senate since 1972, who has run for president before, and who was number two in the regime of a president wildly popular with Democrats. He was soundly beaten and made to look foolish by a kid mayor, a newish senator, and a virtual communist.

RELATED: MSNBC Hosts Caught on Hot Mic Trashing Dems

Why? Several reasons.

  • No oomph- His people in Iowa showed a remarkable lack of passion. The television shots showed them standing idly by while others were fighting for every single vote and delegate.
  • No youth appeal- In the college towns, and they are big Democratic centers in Iowa, he was almost shut out. The guy is verging on 80. The Democrats seems to love young anti-semites and socialists these days. Ergo…(anti-semitic socialists? Gee, what historically recent political movement combined those two traits?) an old labor-loving moderate is just not what they are looking for.
  • Where is Obama? – A lot of Biden’s problems would go away if his former boss endorsed him. But that’s not going to happen because the Obamas are keeping their powder dry for a future Michelle run and don’t want to get into any fights that would tick off other Democrats before they pull the trigger.
  • The guy is just weird- It’s the gaffes, the fabrications, the nuzzling, the obvious combover/hair work, and the odd intolerance for any other point of view in the Democratic Party.Combine this with an expectation he’d be butchered by Trump in the fall debates and it doesn’t make him attractive to Democrats.

They are looking for someone viable against a popular president who is riding a wave of exoneration and triumph. No one sees Biden as strong enough to fit that bill.

RELATED: CNN Ratings Continue to Struggle, Fox News Gets a Huge Boost From Impeachment Trial

  • Finally, he’s yesterday’s news- Joe Biden harkens back to a relatively gentler time, if you could call the Clarence Thomas hearings gentle, when you fought like hell then went out for cocktails afterwards. His heyday was twenty years ago and earlier and modern socialist PC Democrats have little to nothing in common with him. That showed in Iowa. If it also does next Tuesday in New Hampshire he is in big trouble.

Oklahoma Cop Charged With Murder After Killing Active Shooter Who Was Shooting Up The Town

By Steve Pomper | February 6, 2020

At this moment, there is a decorated police officer in Blackwell, Oklahoma who, despite wide and passionate support, is likely feeling pretty damned alone right now. His wife and children, other family members, friends, colleagues, and supporters can commiserate and sympathize, but when you’re the one indicted for murder—for doing your job—no one feels it like you do. Your hell is a special one.

And this hell is made even worse because of the unique circumstances. This hero police officer was indicted after he’d protected his community by risking his life to stop an active shooter before she could kill anyone.

On May 20th, 2019, an armed 34-year-old woman, Michael Ann Godsey (pronounced Michelle), drove her pickup truck through Blackwell, firing a gun out the window at cars, people, and cops. And this was after she’d already shot at her mother.

Blackwell Police Department Lieutenant John Mitchell set his wellbeing aside and ended the danger that threatened the people he is sworn to protect, and he did it in a uniquely heroic way. While driving, he managed to deploy his rifle and fire through his patrol car’s windshield at the active shooter’s car, thereby stopping the rampage.

RELATED: CNN Ratings Continue to Struggle, Fox News Gets a Huge Boost From Impeachment Trial

By all accounts, from people who know him, Lt. Mitchell is a well-respected professional law enforcement officer and devoted family man who is both dedicated to his job and active in the Blackwell community. But with motives that defy rationality, a district attorney named Jason Hicks has, for mysterious reasons, after a seven-month delay and after having been cleared by an independent investigation, targeted the lieutenant.

During the incident, Lt. Mitchell fired some 60 rounds from his rifle attempting to stop the shooter. He also fired shots with his pistol before the suspect was no longer a threat. The D.A. did not indict another officer who’d only fired his service handgun.

It seems Hicks is hung up on the number of rounds Lt. Mitchell fired. Well, as I wrote in my first article on this story, “It was the number necessary to stop the shooter.” Is firing that many rounds a danger to the community? Sure. Firing one round at a suspect is dangerous. But who made so many rounds necessary? The suspect did by not surrendering and continuing to be a threat.

Should Lt. Mitchell have imposed on himself a bullet quota? How about 7, 13, or 23 bullets? But it didn’t take 7, 13, or 23 rounds to stop the threat; it took over 60. That’s how it went, and no one was killed or even seriously injured. Would people have been killed or wounded if Lt. Mitchell had stopped firing at 7, 13, or some other arbitrary number of rounds and allowed the suspect to continue driving and shooting?

I’d ask D.A. Hicks: aside from disengaging the suspect, what other options did Lt. Mitchell have? Maybe Hicks feels the officer should have, oh, I don’t know, rammed the suspect. But doesn’t that mean the officer would have had to get even closer to a suspect who is shooting at him? No tactical advantage in doing that.

Are there other ways this could have ended without innocent deaths or injuries? Probably. In a unique incident like this, individual officers will come up with different (not necessarily better or worse) tactics to stop the threat. But, for all of them, the mission will be the same: stop the threat.

Disengaging from an active shooter is not a viable option. That’s not what “active shooter” training teaches cops. In backing off, you’re betting that the suspect will deescalate if the you stop pursuing him or her. But remember what the Blackwell cops were chasing her for? She was already shooting! Bot her gun and her car were weapons. Lt. Mitchell did the only thing that was going to “deescalate” the situation: shoot back.

Consider how difficult it is for an officer to stop a shooter who is mobile and shooting at him or her. How can one get so bogged down with the number of rounds fired in such an unusual circumstance? How does Lt. Mitchell not deserve the benefit of the doubt? We can’t list the names of the victims who would have, without the cop’s actions, been injured or killed, to justify Lt. Mitchell’s actions. We can’t because, thanks to that brave officer, there were no victims injured or killed.

It’s not like Lt. Mitchell had a mental Rolodex of similar incidents to scroll through. Officers in these life and death situations have to make it up as they go along using their best judgement over the course of multiple split-second decisions. Considering the dynamic, life-threatening circumstances of this incident, the lack of the benefit of the doubt given to this officer by D.A. Hicks is confounding.

But, rather than D.A. Hicks hailing Lt. Mitchell for his heroics, after a bizarre, inexplicable seven-month delay, and well after the cop had been cleared following an investigation by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), D.A. Hicks, reportedly using only evidence heavily weighted against Lt. Mitchell, got a grand jury to indict the veteran lawman, charging him with second degree murder.

And how is Lt. Mitchell to move forward from here after the charges are dropped or he is acquitted (as should happen)? Will he second-guess and hesitate if he’s involved in a similar situation? It would be unnatural not to under these circumstances.

In police work, hesitation can mean injury and death. And this is just a part of the damage D.A. Hicks has done to this community. Other cops in his jurisdiction will have to watch their backs too… not for criminals but for this county D.A.

Several years ago, I was a witness officer in a case where an officer, the victim of an assault at a stolen car collision scene, was charged federally for violating the suspects’ civil rights. I wrote about the incident in my book, De-Policing America. That officer did nothing wrong. In fact, the suspects had resisted arrest and assaulted him and other officers.

Long story short, they should have been charged with felonies for assaulting police officers, but they were only charged for misdemeanor assault in municipal court. A jury acquitted them, later saying they felt the defendants had “suffered enough” because one of them had been pepper-sprayed during the melee.

This acquittal encouraged their lawyers to pursue the federal charge mentioned above. That officer is probably the toughest cop I ever knew. During the course of the lengthy trial, he lost at least 20 pounds he couldn’t afford to lose, had trouble sleeping, and he was never again the proactive cop he’d always been. And this wasn’t a murder charge.

Now, people who say cops shouldn’t worry if they’ve done nothing wrong have their heads up their… umm, in the sand, these days. No less than the Obama/Holder DOJ found that Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson did nothing wrong during the Michael Brown incident. Yet, Wilson will likely never work as a police officer again. And that’s without being charged with any crime.

Ironically, during this legal hell, his community and professional associations have honored Lt. John Mitchell for his service as a police officer. In July 2019, he received a prestigious award for his work in rural drug enforcement. Most recently, in January 2020, John was selected by the readers of the Blackwell Journal-Tribune as the 2019 Best Law Enforcement Officer.

The important thing is for as many people as possible learn about what a county D.A. is doing to this stellar public servant. And then, hopefully, those people will let John know how they feel about his service and let him know they support him (information about how you can do that is provided at the end of this article).

John is supported not only by his community but also by the Oklahoma Fraternal Order of Police (OFOP), and by cops and civilians all over America. Under what must be the intense pressure of commonsense niggling at Hick’s conscience, the man continues this mockery of the American justice system and his attack on all law enforcers.

It isn’t known exactly what evidence Hicks included or omitted for the grand jury or how many mistakes were made, but consider this. One mistake was issuing a flawed subpoena intended for the Blackwell Police Chief Dewayne Wood. Instead, the subpoena went to a (likely bewildered) Duane Wood, who, dutifully, appeared before the grand jury instead.

The other thing to consider is after what you’ve read about the incident in just these brief descriptions, you’ve likely concluded what other lucid people have. That John acted bravely under the most harrowing of circumstances and prevented injuries and deaths.

RELATED: MSNBC Hosts Caught on Hot Mic Trashing Dems

Now, just think about what evidence the D.A. had to exclude for the grand jury to arrive at the conclusion that “Mitchell’s actions were ‘imminently dangerous’ and were ‘without justifiable cause or excuse.” Especially, that last one. Sorry, shooting at someone who is shooting at you and other people seems a justifiable cause or excuse to put all the rounds on your target that you can until the target stops shooting.

As Jason Smith, president of the OFOP noted, “A grand jury indicted a Blackwell police lieutenant for murder for killing an active shooter, and the state’s police union is questioning why the district attorney held back evidence from the indictment.” He added, “I’ve yet to see in American history when an active shooter was taken out by a police officer or civilian who was then charged with murder—murder isn’t defined by that in America.”

There’s a more to this story, but it’s my intention just to keep his plight in the minds of John’s growing list of supporters, and to inform people who haven’t heard about this sham, as the preliminary hearing approaches. The hearing will be held at the Noble County Courthouse, Perry, Oklahoma on Feb. 18th, 2020.

If you’re interested in other aspects of the case, which are as curious as they are fascinating, I wrote a more in depth article last December and a brief follow up in January about John’s ordeal.

One bright note is the outpouring of affection and support for John from across the nation. Thousands of people have joined a Facebook page established to support John. Anyone interested in showing their support can go to the Facebook page: We Stand By John Mitchell. There you can post notes of encouragement for John and his family. You can also purchase t-shirts and stickers to demonstrate your support.

Ex-Spokesman For Romney Campaign Says Trump Guilty Vote Was ‘Motivated By Bitterness And Jealousy’

By PoliZette Staff | February 5, 2020

Earlier today, Senator Mitt Romney, R-UT., betrayed the Republican Party that once named him as their presidential nominee when he voted in favor of convicting Donald Trump on impeachment charges. He was the only GOP senator to break party lines by convicting the sitting president.

Now, a former spokesman for Romney’s unsuccessful 2012 presidential campaign is speaking out to say that the senator’s vote that Trump was guilty of impeachable offenses “was motivated by bitterness and jealousy.” Rick Gorka, who is currently a communications director for the Republican National Committee (RNC), took to Twitter to say that Romney is just bitter that Trump “accomplished what he [Romney] has failed to do multiple times.”

He went on to slam Romney for pandering to the very Democrats who ensured he did not win the presidency in 2012.

“These are the same people that hated Mitt in 2012 and they will hate him again when they are done with him,” he added. “It is sad to see that Mitt has not learned the lessons from 2012. Now he has betrayed his Party and millions of voters.”

Gorka wasn’t the only person calling Romney out for his bitterness today, as the president’s son Donald Trump Jr. also got in on the action, going so far as to call for the senator to be “expelled from the GOP.”

“Mitt Romney is forever bitter that he will never be POTUS. He was too weak to beat the Democrats then so he’s joining them now,” he tweeted. “He’s now officially a member of the resistance & should be expelled from the GOP.”

Romney was well aware that even with his guilty vote, there was no way Trump would be impeached today. He also knew that the majority of his Republican constituents don’t want to see the president be impeached, so the only logical explanation for his vote is that he was indeed bitter.

It’s sad that after so many years, Romney let jealousy cause him to betray the party that has been so devoted to him. Republicans will never be able to look at him the same way again.
