Pelosi Mocks Male Republicans For Not Being Able To Handle Party ‘Girlfriend’ Liz Cheney

As calls grow for Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) to be ousted from her leadership roles, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is mocking male Republicans for trying to find a “non-threatening woman” to replace her.

Pelosi’s Spoof Ad

Staffers for Pelosi sent out a spoof “help wanted” ad as calls mounted to remove Cheney for her moves against former President Donald Trump, according to Yahoo News.

“Word is out that House GOP Leaders are looking to push Rep. Liz Cheney from her post as House Republican Party Chair – their most senior woman in GOP leadership – for a litany of very Republican reasons: she won’t lie, she isn’t humble enough, she’s like a girlfriend rooting for the wrong team, and more,” the ad stated.

“So what exactly are House GOP Leaders looking for in a #3? Punchbowl AM got the scoop and, well, it’s not surprising … they want a woman who isn’t a ‘threat’ to them,” it continued.

This was a reference to Punchbowl News, which reported on Tuesday that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (D-CA) and House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) want Cheney ousted and replaced with someone who is “not relentlessly on message, but also someone who does not pose a threat to them and their power.”

McCarthy Sounds Off

While appearing on “Fox & Friends” this week, McCarthy said that some members of the caucus were “concerned” about Cheney’s capacity to do her job as a conference chairwoman.

“There’s no concern about how she voted on impeachment. That decision has been made. I have heard from members concerned about her ability to carry out the job as conference chair – to carry that message,” he said.

Cheney Attacks Trump

Cheney has long been an outspoken critic of Trump, recently saying that “it’s important” that he not run again in 2024.

“I don’t think that that’s going to happen,” Cheney told the Washington Examiner. “And I think it’s important that it not happen, given what he did.”

While she also said that she “certainly would never vote for a Democrat” and she also stated that she does not think Trump “should be president again.”

Trump And GOP Leadership Endorse Replacement For Liz Cheney

Anti-Trump Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) could face a vote on whether or not she will lose her leadership role in the House as GOP Conference Chair as early as next week.

It’s becoming clear that Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) will be the primary challenger to Cheney for the Conference Chair position.

Stefanik has been calling House GOP members in order to drum up support, and she’s gotten support from the biggest name around.

On Wednesday, Trump officially endorsed Stefanik to replace Cheney as the GOP Conference Chair.

Cheney’s Clash With Republicans

Liz Cheney has been at odds with many of her fellow Republicans since she voted to impeach Trump after the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

Cheney promptly blamed Trump for the violence, and has stated on a number of occasions that the GOP needs to distance themselves from Trump after Trump continued to claim that the 2020 presidential election was fraudulent.

In February, Cheney avoided being removed as Conference Chair position, but was censured by several Republican committees in Wyoming.

She has continued to be outspoken about her opposition to Trump having any sway in the Republican Party.

The dust ups between Cheney and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy also began in February.

When asked at a news conference about whether Trump should speak at the annual CPAC conference that was being held the following weekend, McCarthy said, “Yes, he should.”

When the question was posed to Cheney, she stated, “That’s up to CPAC. I’ve been clear on my views about President Trump. I don’t believe that he should be playing a role in the future of the party or the country.”

Cheney’s Views On Trump Could Pave The Way For Stefanik

Liz Cheney’s steadfast opinion that the GOP should have nothing to do with Trump could pave the way for the new school of Republicans.

But as GOP leaders attempt to unite the party in advance of the 2022 midterms, many are describing Cheney and her comments about Trump to be a “liability.”

House Leader McCarthy was caught on a hot mic Tuesday making the comment that, “I think she’s got real problems. I’ve had it with … I’ve had it with her. You know, I’ve lost confidence.”

House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) is also supporting replacing Cheney with Stefanik. A spokesperson for Scalise stated:

“House Republicans need to be solely focused on taking back the House in 2022 and fighting against Speaker Pelosi and President Biden’s radical socialist agenda, and Elise Stefanik is strongly committed to doing that, which is why Whip Scalise has pledged to support her for Conference Chair.”

Stefanik is a fourth term Congresswoman, representing upstate New York’s 21st district.

Cheney Getting Support… From Nancy Pelosi

Not everyone is on board with Liz Cheney’s removal from the Conference Chair position.

Utah Senator Mitt Romney came out in support of Cheney on Monday. Romney lauded Cheney as “a person of conscience,” and that “she refuses to lie,” referring to the Capitol riot.

Romney continued, “As one of my Republican Senate colleagues said to me following my impeachment vote: ‘I wouldn’t want to be a member of a group that punished someone for following their conscience.”

But Romney may not be the support Cheney could use. Romney was roundly booed at the Utah GOP convention over the weekend. The convention was attended by more than 2,000 Republican delegates.

Cheney also received strong support from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

While calling her by the wrong name, Pelosi commended Cheney’s “courage” and “patriotism.”

The Republican Party needs to decide one way or the other if Donald Trump has a future with the party. They will find out in 2022 if they made the right decision.

Report: GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy Caught On Hot Mic Saying He’s ‘Had It’ With NeverTrumper Liz Cheney

According to a report on Tuesday, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy was caught on mic saying he has “had it” with House Republican Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney.

The alleged incident was reported by Axios and was said to take place off the air while McCarthy was on “Fox & Friends” being interviewed by host Steve Doocy.

McCarthy On Hot Mic: ‘I’ve Had It With Her’

“I think she’s got real problems,” McCarthy reportedly said to Doocy. “I’ve had it with … I’ve had it with her. You know, I’ve lost confidence.”

McCarthy also reportedly spilled on the hot mic that he expects a vote soon to remove Cheney from GOP leadership.

According to Axios, McCarthy said, “Well, someone just has to bring a motion, but I assume that will probably take place.”

During the actual on-air interview, McCarthy was far more diplomatic toward Cheney and her controversy, expressing that members of his caucus were “concerned” about the House Republican Conference chairwoman’s ability to carry out her responsibilities.

Reports Coming That Cheney Could Be Out

“There’s no concern about how she voted on impeachment,” McCarthy told Doocy as the interview began. “That decision has been made.”

McCarthy continued, “I have heard from members concerned about her ability to carry out the job as conference chair — to carry out the message.”

“We all need to be working as one if we’re able to win the majority. Remember, majorities are not given; they are earned,” he added. “And that’s about the message about going forward.”

The Hill spoke to allies of McCarthy earlier this week, some of whom claimed Cheney would be ousted from her chair by the end of this month.

RELATED: Trump Cheers Utah GOP That Booed ‘Stone-Cold Loser’ Mitt Romney, Rips ‘Big-Shot Warmonger’ Cheney

“There is no way that Liz will be conference chair by month’s end,” one key McCarthy ally told The Hill. “When there is a vote, it won’t be a long conference; it will be fast. Everyone knows the outcome.”

Another McCarthy ally said, “This is a broad range of lawmakers who have had it with her.”

“She’s a liability, and McCarthy’s as fed up as the rest of us that she is focused on the past rather than winning back the House,” the anonymous person added.

Cheney has repeatedly attacked former President Donald Trump, who remains extremely popular in the Republican Party.

The anti-Trump neoconservative blames Trump for the violence at the Capitol on Jan. 6.

Not one to shy away from a fight, Trump has returned fire, calling Cheney a ‘warmonger’ on several occasions.

Report: Republicans Moving Closer To Ousting Liz Cheney From Leadership

New reports indicate that anti-Trump Representative Liz Cheney, the number three Republican in the House, could be ousted from her leadership role before the end of the month.

The Hill is reporting that top allies of House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) are looking to remove Cheney (R-WY).

“There is no way that Liz will be conference chair by month’s end,” one person close to McCarthy reportedly said. “When there is a vote, it won’t be a long conference; it will be fast. Everyone knows the outcome.”

A second ally labeled her as “a liability” and suggested it isn’t just far-right supporters of Donald Trump who want to see her go.

“This is a broad range of lawmakers who have had it with her,” they claimed. “She’s a liability, and McCarthy’s as fed up as the rest of us that she is focused on the past rather than winning back the House.”

Here’s Who Republicans Have In Mind To Replace Liz Cheney

Liz Cheney initially received a wave of criticism from her fellow Republicans after she voted to impeach former President Trump due to his alleged incitement of the Capitol protests.

In February, she survived an attempt to remove her from the leadership post by a vote of 145-61.

Rather than moving on, however, Cheney has insisted on launching consistent attacks against Trump, most recently denouncing any supporters who believe “the big lie” that the 2020 presidential election was stolen.

Cheney also took a ton of heat for being caught giving Joe Biden a fist bump before the President’s address before a joint session of Congress last week.

Axios is reporting that Republicans are already considering who Cheney’s replacement would be – insisting they would need a woman to fill the position.

“House Republicans are moving closer to ousting Conference Chair Liz Cheney from leadership, and are already considering replacements — including Reps. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Ann Wagner (R-MO) and Jackie Walorski (R-IN),” congressional aides told Axios.

Of those names, Stefanik has been perhaps the most vocal supporter of Trump throughout his administration and was also key in recruiting more GOP women to run in 2020.

“Widely seen as a rising star in the party, she gained popularity for fiercely defending Trump during his first impeachment,” Axios writes, though they add she is also “considering running for governor of New York.”

Jim Banks Auditioning For The Role?

Contrary to Axios’ reporting that Republican members “recognize Cheney can’t be succeeded by a white man,” Politico is indicating that Jim Banks (R-IN), chair of the Republican Study Committee, has been serving as “shadow chair of the House GOP Conference.”

“Banks’ effort to assemble a rival messaging machine is widely viewed by his colleagues as an audition for Cheney’s job,” they write.

Trump weighed in on the controversy himself on Monday, blasting Cheney as a “warmonger.”

“Heartwarming to read new polls on big-shot warmonger Liz Cheney of the great State of Wyoming,” Trump said in a statement. “She is so low that her only chance would be if vast numbers of people run against her which, hopefully, won’t happen.”

McCarthy (R-CA), who publicly backed Cheney remaining in leadership just two months ago, refused to endorse her as a “good fit” for party leadership.

He is now mentioning rank-and-file concerns about “her ability to carry out her job.”

“I have heard from members concerned about her ability to carry out her job as conference chair, to carry out the message,” said McCarthy.

“We all need to be working as one if we’re able to win the majority,” he added. “Remember, majorities are not given. They are earned.”

Report: Liz Cheney’s Leadership Role ‘Imperiled’ As Criticism From GOP Colleagues Mounts

Business Insider is reporting that a wave of recent criticism from GOP colleagues has the future of anti-Trump Rep. Liz Cheney very much in doubt.

“The past few weeks have seen a cascade of developments that seriously imperil Cheney’s leadership role — and her future within the party,” they write.

The report adds it is “a stunning reversal for a candidate who in the past has been touted as a potential House speaker, US senator, or president.”

CNN buoys the reporting by the Business Insider noting House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) declined to endorse Cheney when asked whether she “was still a good fit for leadership.”

They reference a pair of other Republican lawmakers who believe Cheney “is not speaking for the conference” despite being the number 3 House Republican.

Criticism Of Liz Cheney

The Business Insider notes that Liz Cheney received a wave of criticism after she voted to impeach former President Donald Trump due to his alleged incitement of the Capitol protests.

Still, in February, the caucus voted 145-61 to keep her in a leadership role.

Rather than try to unite the party around a set of shared conservative goals championed by Trump, Cheney has insisted on keeping up the attacks on the former President.

She accused possible Republican presidential candidates in 2024 of engaging in “disqualifying” behavior by objecting to the certification of electoral votes in January.

“I do think that some of our candidates who led the charge, particularly the senators who led the unconstitutional charge, not to certify the election, you know, in my view that’s disqualifying,” Cheney told the New York Post.

Cheney also took a ton of heat for being caught giving Joe Biden a fist bump before the President’s address before a joint session of Congress last week.

Cheney, in another interview last week, doubled down on her impeachment vote and said she’d run on impeaching Trump “every day of the week.”

‘No Support In Her Own Caucus’

Representative Lance Gooden (R-TX) wasn’t shy about making a prediction for Cheney’s future saying, “She’ll be out of her GOP leadership role by month’s end.”

Senator Josh Hawley mocked Cheney’s White House aspirations recently, saying she doesn’t speak for Republicans and has “no support in her own caucus.”

Trump also took a shot at Cheney calling her a “warmongering fool.”

“Liz Cheney is polling sooo low in Wyoming, and has sooo little support, even from the Wyoming Republican Party, that she is looking for a way out of her Congressional race,” he claimed in a statement.

Even McCarthy, who publicly backed Cheney remaining in leadership just two months ago, refused to endorse her as a “good fit” for party leadership.

“That’s a question for the conference,” he said.

Cheney refused to rule out a future run for President of the United States when asked by the New York Post.

“I’m not ruling anything in or out — ever is a long time,” she told the newspaper.

Her actions in the past several months all but guarantee she has no chance of winning the Republican nomination.

Donald Trump Jr. Rips Liz Cheney For Palling Around With Biden Before His Big ‘Socialist’ Speech

On Thursday, Donald Trump, Jr. criticized Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney on Twitter for warmly greeting President Joe Biden with a fist bump after his address to Congress, in which he laid out a “radical socialist vision.”

Trump Jr. joined his father in calling the anti-Trump Cheney a warmonger.

“‘Republican’ warmonger Liz Cheney gives Sleepy Joe a fist bump after he delivered a radical socialist vision for the future of America,” Trump Jr. tweeted.

“So glad she’s in the GOP leadership, I guess they wanted to be more inclusive and put Democrats in there too?!?”

Cheney Defends Warm Greeting To Biden

Hours later, Cheney responded.

“I disagree strongly w/@JoeBiden policies, but when the President reaches out to greet me in the chamber of the US House of Representatives, I will always respond in a civil, respectful & dignified way,” Cheney tweeted.

“We’re different political parties. We’re not sworn enemies. We’re Americans,” she finished.

Cheney Explains Her Differences With Biden Administration

In another tweet, Cheney discussed her disagreement with the Biden administration’s policies.

Cheney wrote, “Biden, Pelosi and Democrats are set on abusing their power and infringing on our freedoms as they try to pass their radical agenda into law.”

Cheney And Trump Sworn Enemies?

While Cheney says we’re all Americans and not sworn enemies, she has been aggressive in her condemnation of former President Donald Trump.

Cheney has been at odds with the Trump forces within the Republican Party for some time, including working with Democrats to block Trump’s withdrawal from Afghanistan.

But things really became heated after she voted for the second impeachment of the former president for alleged incitement of insurrection at the Capitol on January 6.

After Cheney said earlier this week that she would not rule out a 2024 presidential run, Donald Trump issued a statement denouncing the Republican congresswoman using the same “warmonger” rhetoric his son did in his tweet.

“She’ll either be yet another lobbyist or maybe embarrass her family by running for President, in order to save face,” wrote Trump.

“This warmongering fool wants to stay in the Middle East and Afghanistan for another 19 years, but doesn’t consider the big picture — Russia and China!” Trump said..

FNC’s Janice Dean Calls For Cuomo To Be Impeached Immediately – Says He Covered Up Nursing Home Deaths To Sell His Book

Fox News meteorologist Janice Dean called for Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) to be impeached today, claiming that he covered up the death toll in nursing homes because “he had a book to sell, a $4 million book.”

Dean Blasts Cuomo

While appearing on “Fox & Friends,” Dean said that Cuomo “would go on these interviews on television, when they would finally ask him the question about the nursing homes, he would give false information and he knew all along he was lying. So why did he and his top aides, including Melissa DeRosa, go to such great lengths to make sure that no one would find out the real total of the deaths? I think it’s because it’s criminal and he had a book to sell, a $4 million book.”

Not stopping there, Dean called on lawmakers to take action.

“Our lawmakers in Albany need to do something,” she added. “This whitewash of an impeachment is ridiculous. Go in there today and get it done. There are at least four investigations into this governor. How much more do you need to get him out?”

Dean Feels Relief

This comes a day after Dean said she feels relief to see the tide finally start to turn against Cuomo after she spent nearly a year being “beaten down” as she desperately fought against him.

“I feel like all of these months, close to a year now, it feels like it finally is happening, that all of the things we’ve been yelling about and trying to shine a light on, it’s finally happening,” Dean told Fox News. “I really feel like he should go to jail. And all these people surrounding him that covered this up for so many months, they should go to jail.”

Dean has been fighting to get justice for her in-laws, who both died in New York nursing homes.

‘We’re On The Side Of The Angels’

“It’s like I just have to think that my in-laws had a purpose. I always say, like, we’re on the side of the angels and you can’t deny that,” she said. “I feel like they’ve always helped me this whole year… just to give me the strength to continue to go on.”

“And, you know, people made fun of me in the beginning, even the Cuomo administration… like she’s nothing but the weather girl and what does she know?” Dean continued. “You know, sometimes the weather girl gets it right. And I do want justice for them. They deserve it.”

Bombshell Report Indicates Cuomo Aides Repeatedly Blocked Release Of Nursing Home Deaths

A bombshell report from the New York Times indicates top aides to Governor Andrew Cuomo overruled his own health experts, blocking the release of the pandemic’s true death toll numbers at nursing homes, and did so all while they were helping him write a book.

The crux of the Times column refers to the length of time aides spent in trying to cover up the number of deaths in nursing homes – five months – a particularly sore spot with the governor who had issued an executive order forcing care facilities to take in COVID-positive patients.

The order was not reversed for months.

Cuomo aides clearly sensed the fallout, doing their best to minimize the numbers by not counting seniors who were transported to hospitals and died there.

“By the time the policy was rescinded less than two months later, it had become clear that not all the deaths were being included in that tally: Those who died after being transferred to hospitals were not counted as nursing home deaths,” the Times writes.

When Cuomo’s own top health officials tried to get a more accurate count, his aides rebuffed them time and again. In fact, they fought release of the true numbers for five months, according to the report, a “far greater (effort) than previously known.”

Cuomo’s Unbelievable Nursing Home Scandal

While critics were noting the role of Governor Cuomo’s nursing home executive order in a large number of elderly deaths during the pandemic, the state Health Department was preparing a report on the matter in the spring of 2020.

Secretary to the Governor, Melissa DeRosa, according to an email reviewed by the New York Times, told health officials: “We are getting anxious over here on this report.”

That report was eventually published in July but contained an explicit quantifier that the order forcing the care facilities to take on COVID-positive patients was “not a driver of nursing home infections or fatalities.”

It also included a much lower number – not counting hospital deaths – in the report that the Times states was “rewritten several times by senior advisers to Mr. Cuomo.”

The department report listed just over 6,400 deaths. As of this month, more than 15,500 nursing home residents died from COVID-19.

In February, the New York Post revealed that DeRosa told leading Democrats that they tried to suppress the numbers because the administration feared the data could “be used against us” by the Justice Department saying, “basically, we froze.”

“We were in a position where we weren’t sure if what we were going to give to the Department of Justice, or what we give to you guys, what we start saying, was going to be used against us while we weren’t sure if there was going to be an investigation,” she said.

The New York Times reported in January that attorney general Letitia James, a Democrat, accused Cuomo and his administration, particularly officials at the State Health Department, of undercounting COVID deaths at nursing homes by as much as 50%.

A subsequent report by the Wall Street Journal in early March accused the aides of a very explicit cover-up by the Cuomo administration in the nursing home scandal.

“Cuomo’s top advisers successfully pushed state health officials to strip a public report of data showing that more nursing-home residents had died of Covid-19 than the administration had acknowledged,” they detailed.

Much of the pressure by the Health Department to suppress the numbers on the nursing home deaths was being applied by the administration itself.

“Aides overruled state health officials on releasing the figures over the span of at least five months, The Times reports,” according to The Hill.

“The effort included halting the publication of a scientific paper, which included the true tally, and the sending of two letters drafted by the Health Department and intended for state lawmakers.”

RELATED: Cuomo Admin Accused Of ‘Criminal Conspiracy’ Following Bombshell Report They ‘Stripped’ Data From Report On Nursing Home Deaths

‘They Should All Go To Jail’

The New York Times report notes that much of the effort to halt the release of the true figures in the Cuomo nursing home scandal revolved around the Governor’s efforts to write a book celebrating his ‘leadership’ during the pandemic.

“The actions coincided with the period in which Mr. Cuomo was pitching and then writing a book on the pandemic, with the assistance of his top aide, Melissa DeRosa, and others,” the report reads.

State Attorney General Letitia James, a Democrat, is currently conducting an investigation of allegations that the Governor used state resources and state employees to write his book on which he received a multimillion-dollar advance.

Fox News meteorologist and author Janice Dean, a leading voice on the nursing home scandal involving Governor Cuomo, expressed her optimism that justice may finally be served.

Dean’s in-laws were the unfortunate victims of COVID-19, where nursing homes in New York played a significant part.

“I feel like all of these months, close to a year now, it feels like it finally is happening, that all of the things we’ve been yelling about and trying to shine a light on, it’s finally happening,” Dean said.

Many of the things I’ve covered here at The Political Insider as well, things that should have been revealed much earlier if not for a complicit New York media that spent more time fawning over Cuomo than reporting on him.

On May 18th, nearly one full year ago, I labeled Cuomo’s executive order on nursing homes a “scandal” and noted at the time that the Governor seemed uninterested in accountability.

He even suggested it wasn’t his fault because “older people … are going to die.”

In an interview with Fox News, Dean didn’t hold back on what she felt should happen to the governor and those in his administration complicit in the nursing home cover-up.

“I really feel like he should go to jail,” she said. “And all these people surrounding him that covered this up for so many months, they should go to jail.”

The following is a list of scandals in which Cuomo is currently embroiled, most of which have resulted in investigations, calls for his resignation, and impeachment inquiries:

  • Forcing nursing homes to take on COVID-positive patients.
  • Obstructing justice by hiding the data on those deaths and stripping numbers from DOH reports.
  • Numerous sexual misconduct allegations including a police report involving forcibly groping an aide.
  • Bullying and threatening fellow lawmakers and members of the media.
  • Under investigation for a $4 million book deal profiting off the pandemic by having aides write and edit portions using state resources.

In an incredibly cold and callous comment last May, Cuomo snapped at a reporter for asking about grieving families of nursing home patients seeking justice.

“What is justice? Who can we prosecute for those deaths? Nobody. Nobody,” he rationalized. “Mother nature? God? Where did this virus come from? People are going to die by this virus.”

It’s time somebody from the administration is prosecuted, if not the governor himself. That would be justice.

Report: Trump Plans To Resume MAGA Rallies

According to a report from CNN, former President Trump has been discussing the possibility of bringing back the Make America Great Again rallies that were so popular during his campaigns and president.

The report noted that Trump wants to remain a part of the political conversation despite no longer being president or having the ability to use Twitter, where he has been permanently banned.

Massive MAGA Rallies Were A Staple Of The Trump Years

Future rallies would reportedly be in support of Trump-endorsed candidates who are challenging sitting Republicans who voted to impeach Trump over the January 6 Capitol protests.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska is one of seven Republican senators who has criticized Trump and voted convict him in his second impeachment trial.

Even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Trump held massive MAGA rallies throughout 2020. The rallies ended when Trump lost the general presidential election to Joe Biden.

Trump Aide: ‘It Will Definitely Be Different In Terms Of The Setup’

A Trump aide told CNN of the planned rallies, “It will definitely be different in terms of the setup, but we got really good at planning these events in 2020, so we will probably use a lot of those same vendors again.”

Since Trump was banned from Twitter, he has been communicating through statements from his office, particularly speaking out against Republicans who have criticized him.

On Tuesday, Trump’s office released a statement calling Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney a “warmongering fool” after she said she had not running for president herself in 2024.
