Susan Collins, now a national laughingstock, has concerns

Congratulations, Sen. Susan Collins! You've become national figure! Unfortunately for you, it’s as a laughingstock. First she appeared in a Saturday Night Live skit and then in a Stephen Colbert monologue, in which he described her as "the senator who has most successfully talked herself into believing that she believes in something."

Proving Colbert’s point, Collins went on WMTW, Portland's ABC affiliate, to say she "did what I felt was right" in her votes in the impeachment trial of Donald Trump, and that this was an even more consequential vote than the one on putting Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court because "removing a president from office" is "overturning an election and preventing the president from appearing in the ballot this fall." About this fall, and if she'll vote for Trump this time around? "You know, I'm not going to discuss presidential politics at a time like this." A time like this being before the filing deadline for Maine's primary. She already made her decision clear, however, in the only vote that really counts—on Trump’s impeachment.

Collins has chosen her side, and Maine knows it. Please give $1 to help Democrats in each of these crucial Senate races, but especially the one in Maine!

She's still trying to convince Mainers that she'll vote to "curb the president's powers." She left out the part about needing to have Mitch McConnell's permission to cast those votes. She also said that she would disapprove of retribution by Trump against anyone who testified. She will tell every reporter she can talk to that she is very concerned when Trump fires Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman from the National Security Council after he testified in House impeachment hearings, or when Attorney General Bill Barr starts investigating House Democratic leadership.

She told Maine reporters after a Friday meeting of the Maine Chiefs of Police Association that she wished there had been witnesses in the Senate trial, proving that her wishes are about as effective as her hopes.

After impeachment acquittal, Trump’s bitter feud with Pelosi continues

On Thursday, President Trump declared victory, one day after his acquittal in the Senate impeachment trial. He celebrated among supporters at the White House and claimed Democrats had conducted "corrupt" investigations. Hours earlier, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told reporters at a news conference that she prays for the president, and that his impeachment will stand forever. Judy Woodruff reports.

Rosie O’Donnell, Other Hollywood Liberals Praise Mitt Romney For Voting To Convict Trump

By PopZette Staff | February 6, 2020

Eight years ago, Mitt Romney was seen as the devil by Hollywood liberals as he was the Republican nominee in the 2012 presidential election. Now, however, Hollywood liberals have changed their tune about Romney after he was the only Republican senator to vote to convict President Donald Trump on impeachment charges yesterday.

Radical Hollywood liberals have been taking to Twitter in droves to praise Romney in the past 24 hours. One such liberal is Rosie O’Donnell, who has been in a bitter feud with Trump for over a decade. She wrote, “thank u @SenatorRomney for voting to convict – one republican with honor #ConvictAndRemove.”

Former “Who’s The Boss” star Alyssa Milano, who has become more famous in recent years for her radical anti-Trump activism than she ever was for her acting, also had words of praise for Romney.

“Thank you for doing what’s right, @MittRomney. History will remember you as a decent, courageous, man among cowards and fools,” she tweeted.

John Cusack, one of the most radically anti-Trump actors in Hollywood, simply wrote, “Romney tells the truth.”

“Incredible,” wrote former “The West Wing” star Bradley Whitford. “The radical idea that an elected official must put their oath to uphold the constitution above what’s most convenient for them politically. Thank you @MittRomney.  Let’s help him blow this spark of decency into a fire that engulfs the madness of hatred and division.”

Even Bette Midler, who frequently attacks conservatives on her Twitter page, shared her love for Romney following his vote.

“Romney made a great speech, logical, well reasoned, emotional and true,” she tweeted. “It honestly looks as if #Romney is the ONLY person of courage in the entire party.  THAT’S THE REAL OUTRAGE.”

When Romney ran for president against Barack Obama eight years ago, he could do nothing right in the eyes of the Hollywood left. They are only praising him now because he shamelessly catered to them by voting to convict Trump out of sheer bitterness and jealousy. As President Trump himself would say: SAD!

Trump finds new Senate favorite, because she’s been ‘downright nasty and mean’ for him

The newest Republican senator, Kelly Loeffler, has quickly risen to be a favorite of impeached president Donald Trump. The Georgia Republican, who was appointed to fill out retired Sen. Johnny Isakson's term, received high praise from Trump in Thursday's acquittal/Festivus "celebration." He gave Loeffler praise that her fellow Republican Sen. Martha McSally must be seething over. Loeffler has "been so supportive and she's been downright nasty and mean about the unfairness to the president," Trump said.

It probably also didn't go over too well with Rep. Doug Collins, the Republican who glued himself to Trump through the House impeachment process and has been counting on Trump to boost his own run for the Senate in the primary for Loeffler’s seat. He got another dagger to the heart today with the report that Loeffler kicked in $5 million to her own campaign this week. There's more where that came from, too. She's got so much money, she's charging her own campaign interest on that loan. She could make as much as $120,000 back in interest! No wonder Trump is impressed: That's the kind of grift he pulls every day, except of course he's doing it to the taxpayers. She's just doing it to potential donors. Charging yourself interest on your campaign loans isn't against the law, but as Beth Rotman, director of money in politics and ethics at Common Cause, says, it's awfully tacky.

Another billionaire is screwing up the Senate. Help fight back. Please give $3 to our nominee fund to bury them and help Democrats take the Senate back.

At his rally Thursday, Trump did give some props to Collins, calling him an "unbelievable" friend. He also said he's working on a compromise between the two. "Something's going to happen that's going to be very good. I don't know; I haven't figured it out yet," he said. Of course he hasn't, because the idea occurred to him right there on the spot.

But somebody who has no applicable qualifications to speak of is going to get a plum job from Trump any day now.

It’s Back To Work For The GOP And The President

By David Kamioner | February 6, 2020

Now that the impeachment saga has come to a close the administration and its GOP congressional cohorts can go back to doing what they were elected to do: run the country.

While the Republican members of the House are for now outnumbered in that chamber, there are deals that can be worked out with House Democrats and sent to the GOP Senate for approval and subsequent presidential signature.

There are other issues, like federal judicial appointments, that thankfully are solely in the hands of the president and the Republican Senate.

The president will continue to send qualified conservative jurists to that body for a vote. His impressive total of 191 federal judicial appointments so far in his administration has done amazing things like turning the formerly notoriously leftist 9th Circuit Court into a solid shade of conservative red.

And to paraphrase Trump, the fun is just beginning.

The president mentioned in the SOTU that infrastructure was on his mind. Like the recent USMCA trade deal with Canada and Mexico, he may be able to get a big bill on infrastructure through the Democratic House because Big Labor will pressure Pelosi to pass it.

The bill would bring billions in federal dollars to the construction and transportation industries and create a great number of jobs. The only reason it wouldn’t pass is because Pelosi may not want to see the president get the credit for it in an election year.

Spite before economic progress, the modern Democratic Party creed.

Under the general infrastructure umbrella there is an actually bipartisan highway bill that the Senate Public Works Committee advanced last July. It hasn’t got to the floor for a vote as of yet. The current five year highway transportation bill expires at the end of September 2020.

The president will continue to push for funds for the border wall and border security. Democrats may compromise somewhat on this as they know both measures evoke poll numbers that range into the 70 percentiles in support.

Dem proposals that are DOA in the Senate include net neutrality, universal background checks on gun sales, and funding to burn down the Reichstag.

I kinda made that last one up.

Moscow Mitch heaped with praise by Trump in ‘victory’ rally for making it all possible

Moscow Mitch McConnell featured big in impeached-for-life president Donald Trump's unhinged White House campaign rally on Thursday. "And Mitch McConnell, I want to tell you, you did a fantastic job," Trump said. "He understood this was crooked politics. This was crooked politics." Yes, if there's one thing the destroyer of the Senate and beneficiary of Russian largesse understands, it's being crooked.

"This guy is great, and I appreciate it, Mitch," Trump said later. He's "the greatest poker player," said the guy who has no impulse control. "Somebody said, 'You know, Mitch is quiet.' I said, 'He's not quiet.' […] He doesn't want people to know him." That might be the closest thing to truth Trump said. McConnell has worked very hard at keeping the depth of his evil from public view. "And they said, 'Is Mitch smart?' And I said, 'Well, let's put it this way: For many many years […] people have been trying to take his place, and to the best of my knowledge, I've never even heard the subject come up because they've been wiped out so fast."

It's time to end McConnell's destructive stranglehold on the republic. Please give $1 to our nominee fund to help Democrats and end McConnell's career as Senate majority leader.

What's Moscow Mitch doing now, besides basking in the sickly orange glow of his Dear Leader? Advancing five more judicial nominations to make sure that even the courts won't be available to rein in the newly anointed dictator.

We need to make sure that Trump is defeated, but just as critical, we need to make sure that McConnell never again has the power to use the Senate to create another Trump.

Trump Holds Up ‘Acquitted’ Headlines Next to Pelosi Attending Prayer Breakfast

On Thursday, President Trump proudly held up two newspapers featuring “Acquitted” headlines, parading them them before a National Prayer Breakfast audience in his first appearance since his Senate impeachment trial, where he was declared not guilty.

He Did It Right Next to Nancy!

The president showed off the headlines very close to where House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was after both she and the President arrived at the breakfast.

Trump picked up a USA Today newspaper and showed it to the audience. Then he did the same with a copy of the Thursday edition of the Washington Post, which had a similar headline.

Trump also took a few shots at Pelosi.

Payback

“I don’t like people who use their faith as justification for doing what they know is wrong, nor do I like people who say ‘I pray for you’ when you know that is not so,” Trump said. During the impeachment process, Pelosi had said that she was “prayerful” concerning the President.

Trump described impeachment as a “terrible ordeal by some very dishonest and corrupt people.”

But for the President, his newspaper bragging was not just payback for the impeachment mess, but also for Pelosi’s behavior at the end of Tuesday’s State of the Union address where she tore up the pages of his speech.

Impeachment Finally Over

On Wednesday, the Senate, acquitted Trump on both articles of impeachment against him, abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, following a long trial.

In the deciding vote, all Democratic senators voted in unison to convict the president on both articles. With Republicans, the only party defection was on the abuse of power charge from Senator Mitt Romney, who claimed Trump had engaged in as “destructive an attack on the oath of office and our Constitution as I can imagine.”

Laura Ingraham to Mitt Romney: If I Have to Move to Utah to Beat You I Will

Fox News personality Laura Ingraham demanded Mitt Romney resign from the Senate after he joined Democrats in a vote to convict President Trump in the impeachment trial.

Should he choose not to exit, Ingraham said she’d go so far as to move to the state of Utah to run against him.

In a segment on her show ‘The Ingraham Angle,’ the Fox host eviscerated Romney from top to bottom, referring to the Republican senator as “the ultimate selfish, preening, self-centered politician.”

“If he were up for reelection this year, the people of Utah would have their own payback against him because they were defrauded by Romney,” Ingraham explained. “For when he had to choose, he chose [Charles] Schumer and Kamala [Harris] over common sense and conservatism.”

“Mitt, you made your stand. Now you should resign. You committed a fraud on the people of Utah, on the Republican Party, on the Constitution, and thoroughly embarrassed yourself,” Ingraham continued. “If I have to move there to run against him in four and a half years, I will.”

Fraud on the People

Ingraham’s “fraud on the people” comment is a reference to Romney’s penchant for requesting help from President Trump and his supporters when it benefits him politically, then turning his back on them.

After accepting Trump’s endorsement for Utah senator in 2018, Romney almost immediately wrote a scathing op-ed indicating the President had failed to live up to the “mantle” of the presidency.

The Senator from Utah also accepted Trump’s endorsement for him in the 2012 election. He met with him for consideration of being the President’s Secretary of State at one point. Now, he joins Democrats by demanding new witnesses in the trial, then votes to convict.

“Like all the other bitter ‘Never Trumpers’, he’d rather see the entire American economy go down the drain than give Trump a victory,” Ingraham seethed.

They Still Hate You, Mitt

Ingraham went on to explain that Romney had everyone fooled during his own presidential run in 2012.

“We thought you’d be better for America and the way you repay millions of people, the millions who did vote for you in 2012 is to throw in with the very people who don’t share our goals, who hate us,” Ingraham griped. “And by the way, who still hate you.”

Romney spoke on the Senate floor Wednesday, claiming he was going to vote his conscience and was prepared for any criticism he might face.

He was the only Republican to go alongside the Democrat witch hunt, voting to convict the President of abuse of power.

“The President is guilty of an appalling abuse of public trust,” Romney melodramatically insisted, despite the House failing to prove he was guilty of anything.

Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., called Romney a “coward” who is “blinded by hatred because he had his shot [and] he couldn’t do it.”

Now That Trump Has Been Acquitted, Are We In Agreement The Dem’s Future Is On Fumes?

Before I go into thoughts, let me remind you about Chuck Schumer’s letter regarding former Bill Clinton’s impeachment 1999 in part.

Schumer said the following: “It has shaken me that we stand at the brink of removing a President — not because of a popular groundswell to remove him and not because of the magnitude of the wrongs he’s committed — but because conditions in late 20th century America has made it possible for a small group of people who hate Bill Clinton and hate his policies to very cleverly and very doggedly exploit the institutions of freedom that we hold dear and almost succeed in undoing him.”

MORE NEWS: CNN’s Jim Acosta Gets Nuked Over ‘Disgusting’ Comments About Rush Limbaugh

Today, the United States Senate acquitted Pres. Donald Trump of two impeachment articles sent by the Democrat-led House of Representatives, and Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Jerry Nadler, and Adam Schiff couldn’t do a thing to stop it. Weeks and weeks of this blame game and false narrative created by overzealous lawmakers whose intention was to alert the American public that Pres. Trump was was dangerous to the Republic. He is dangerous, but not to the Republic. The actions of the Democratic party have shown all voters who the bottlenecks of progress have been all these years.

The final vote was 52 to 48 on articles one and 47 to 53 on article two. The only surprise was when Sen. Mitt Romney voted to convict the president on the first article, in what would prove the lone GOP defection.

Democrats have been filled with rage ever since Trump defeated Crooked Hillary in the last election. Democrats are only interested in perpetuating their hatred of Pres. Trump, by fabricating one impeachment case after another for their political gain. That is why they were calling for his impeachment the day after the 2016 elections. Democrats are delusional, paranoid, and blinded by their hatred of the president. That is why they are obsessed with overthrowing an election that reflects the will of the American voters.

MORE NEWS: Here Are The Top Three Reasons Dem Leaders Hate To See Anyone Successful In America!

Romney is correct about one thing, “The people will judge us for how well and faithfully we fulfilled our duty.” Many Democrats, along with Romney, will be judged harshly in November 2020, but he probably doesn’t care. His son holds a high position in the same Ukrainian company as Hunter Biden, so I’m sure his family will remain well off even after he’s voted out in November.

Democrats went from spying on Trump’s presidential campaign to a special counsel investigation to this House committee investigation sham, and they lost at every turn, but still decided to send two articles of impeachment to the Senate anyway so the American people could hear the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States say, “Donald John Trump has been acquitted of both charges.” This is an epic failure on the part of the Democratic Party; they are nothing but fumes now.

Now that this is all over with, maybe the Senate and the House can finally get back to work and get something accomplished instead of wasting everybody’s time and money.

I’m sure the Democrats have gone back to their offices to try to hatch a new plan to take Trump down. I wonder what they’re going to do next, and they will do something next, it’ll be interesting to see what they try now.

MORE NEWS: Tlaib, Omar Storm Out During Trump’s State of the Union Speech

The simple truth is that, for all his shortcomings, Trump is several orders of magnitude better than the alternative. Liberal don’t understand that they have so little to offer that we are willing to have Trump as President, no matter how crass or unpresidential he is.

For the record, I have been consistent with my dislike for Romney since he gave up during the 2nd presidential debate of 2012. But then again, he doesn’t need me; he has a new set of friends now. Maybe he can get a seat on their late-term abortion committee.

Moscow Mitch completes his cover-up, but not without some hitches and real jeopardy ahead

Moscow Mitch McConnell has a poker face. It’s lipless and chinless, but it’s still a poker face. But he has a tell he can't control when he gets angry: His face gets red. His face was very red on the Senate floor Wednesday afternoon after Republican Sen. Mitt Romney delivered an honest-to-God inspiring and moving speech explaining why he would vote to convict impeached president Donald Trump on the first article of impeachment.

That vote, and the impassioned, honest, and eloquent speech that grounded it, will haunt every Republican in the Senate for the remainder of their careers. "Were I to ignore the evidence what has been presented and disregard what I believe my oath and the Constitution demands of me for the sake of a partisan end, it would, I fear, expose my character to history's rebuke and the censure of my own conscience," Romney said. That's a soundbite that can be used in every campaign against each of the Senate Leader’s vulnerable Republicans, for the rest of the year—and by Moscow Mitch’s own challenger. That speech and vote from Romney blast a big hole in McConnell's most important message: The Republican-controlled Senate is safe.

It's time to end McConnell's destructive stranglehold on the republic. Please give $1 to our nominee fund to help Democrats and end McConnell's career as majority leader.

When McConnell trotted out that message after the vote today, it rang hollow. "Every one of our people in tough races is in better shape today than they were before the impeachment trial started," he said, knowing that it was absolutely not true. He also knows that this will not be the end of revelations about Trump's illegal and impeachable behavior. He knows that this will only embolden Trump to do more outrageous and dangerous things. And he certainly knows that the American people’s anger will land on the Republicans who protected Trump.

Especially the majority leader who orchestrated the entire sham of a trial.
