Congressional Democrats Add Insult to Injury by Alienating Second Possible Impeachment Trial Swing Vote

By David Kamioner | January 24, 2020

The only way the Dems had a shred of a chance of convicting President Donald Trump in the current Senate impeachment trial was by bringing over several GOP Senators on early votes that could start a rockslide towards GOP guilty votes.

So what do they do?

They insult the Senate.

Specifically House impeachment manager Jerry Nadler, who this analyst has had a run in with in the past, told the Senate they were engaged in a “cover up” if they did not vote with him and that the Senate itself was also “on trial.”

In rebuttal, presidential counsel Pat Cipollone gave as good as he got.

RELATED: Trey Gowdy Unloads On Adam Schiff’s ‘Wildly Stupid’ Trial Strategy

As we reported earlier on Friday, Nadler’s tone did not sit well with possible swing vote Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) who publicly registered her distaste and signaled her non-happiness with Dem tactics. That cannot help their case with her.

Now Politico is reporting that fellow possible swing trial vote Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine) was so ticked off at Nadler that she sent a note to presiding judge U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.

She commented to Politico, “It reminded me that if we were in a normal debate in the Senate, that the rule would be invoked to strike the words of the senator for impugning another senator.

So, I did write a note raising the issue of whether there’d been a violation of the rules. I’m going to cast my vote regardless of the congressman’s performance. His negative comments about the Senate will not have any impact.”

Oh yes they will.

RELATED: Crucial Moderate Senators Are ‘Offended’ and ‘Stunned’ After Nadler Accuses Senators of ‘Cover-Up’

That note, and no doubt his own observations, caused Roberts to tell the assembled pols and lawyers, “It is appropriate at this point for me to admonish both the House managers and the president’s counsel in equal terms to remember that they are addressing the world’s greatest deliberative body.”

He continued, “One reason it has earned that title is because its members avoid speaking in a manner, and using language, that is not conducive to civil discourse.”

If the GOP 53 vote shield wall holds then the Dems not only have come all this way for nothing, dragging the nation and the government along with them, but they may be forced to give their own Senators vote waivers to protect those who hail from Trump states.

If that comes about, Nadler may regret his words. But the president won’t.

Crucial Moderate Senators Are ‘Offended’ and ‘Stunned’ After Nadler Accuses Senators of ‘Cover-Up’

By David Kamioner | January 24, 2020

Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, a woman known for her easily riled independence and from a functionally libertarian state, has said she was ‘offended’ when Dem impeachment manager Jerry Nalder said the Senate would be engaging in a ‘cover up’ if they didn’t vote with the Dems on witnesses in the Trump impeachment trial.

They didn’t and Murkowski hit back.

“I took it as offensive,” she told the press on Wednesday. “As one who is listening attentively and working hard to get to a fair process, I was offended.”

Now, she could have sucked it up and kept her problem to herself.

But the fact that she chose speak out was a signal as to where her leanings lie on the entire deal. That would quash the Dem plan to bring four Republican Senators (Alexander, Murkowski, Romney, and Collins are most often mentioned) over to their aisle on procedural votes and then on convicting the president.

RELATED: President Trump Wins His First Impeachment Trial Victory as Senate Votes 53 to 47

Alexander of Tennessee is not running for reelection this year and thus he’d pay no political price for voting with the Dems.

But he probably wants to retire to an ambassadorship or another such bauble when he leaves the Senate.

Ticking off a president who is likely to be reelected forestalls that anytime soon.

Murkowski is more moderate than the rest of the Republican caucus. But she is holding firm for now.

Then there’s Mittens.

His record with Donald Trump is well known. Romney has called the president some very untoward things and has commented negatively on everything from the president’s politics to his personal character.

RELATED: Twitter Reacts to Dems First Disastrous Day of Impeachment Trial and It’s Beyond Hilarious

But this former governor and son of a governor likes the status of office and conservative Utah may not readily forgive his apostasy on the Trump verdict. Smart money says he’s reluctantly safe.

Collins of Maine is the only one of the group who has defected. On one procedural vote, she went south on the GOP. The party won anyway.

So she’s let very purple Maine know she doesn’t have blinders on. But she held fast on Kavanaugh while under tremendous leftist pressure. She’ll hold here when it counts.

The Dems wrap up today and the GOP takes over tomorrow as the trial marches on.

President Trump Unites Pro-Life Supporters as Movement Surges at March for Life 2020

By David Kamioner | January 24, 2020

Fox News reports that from laymen to leaders, conservative and pro-life Christians are showing up at Friday’s DC pro-life March for Life in droves.

Many of them are no doubt encouraged and thrilled at the scheduled appearance of President Donald Trump.

Trump is the first U.S. president to ever address the rally in person.

Appearing on “Fox & Friends: First” with host Heather Childers, March for Life president Jeanne Mancini said that President Trump has “absolutely put his money where his mouth is” on pro-life issues.

RELATED: Trump First President in History to Speak at March for Life

Their own words speak volumes as to their commitment to this cause.

“Inviting wonderful Evangelical leaders like … Pastor David Platt from McLean Bible Church, Rev. Dr. Matthew Harrison of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and Jim Daly, President of Focus on the Family, to participate is one small way we do this. We want to do everything possible to welcome pro-life people of all faiths to the March for Life,” said march organizer Jeanne Mancini.

The march began in 1974 as mainly a Roman Catholic event. It has expanded to include all faiths.

Evangelist Franklin Graham, son of the famed pastor and advisor to presidents the late Rev. Billy Graham, Wednesday morning said on Facebook: “I’m going to do something on Friday that I’ve never done before — I’m going to march. I’m going to DC to walk in the March for Life.”

Pastor Jack Graham, no relation to Franklin Graham, said, “This is my first time. We’re at a tipping point on the issue of the sanctity of life in the country and the very fact that the president is speaking live for the first time just indicates the massive movement of life for evangelicals in the country.”

RELATED: Pro-Life Advocates Arrested Outside Nancy Pelosi’s Office

The young are also taking part.

“As soon as I found out about it…I purchased my ticket right away,” student Jordan Jantzen, 21, told Fox.

He continued, “I just continue to get blown away by seeing so many people my age. It shows that we are the pro-life generation and we believe the sanctity of human life is of utmost importance from conception until natural death.”

If the laws of this nation are ever to turn away from abortion it will not initially come from politicians, as most are too timid to buck what they think is a national consensus on the issue.

It will come from pro-life grassroots support like this march that is leveraged into political pressure at the ballot box and in campaign cash donated to pro-life candidates.

It is the only language the political class of this nation understands.

Schiff Guns For Feinstein Seat

By David Kamioner | January 24, 2020

Do you find Adam Schiff, Dem of California, even more supercilious than you did when he ran the House Intel Committee’s impeachment hearing? Is he lying with greater confidence and still getting the facts wrong during the scant moments when he isn’t intentionally fabricating evidence?

That’s because, like Doug Collins of Georgia on the GOP side during the House hearings, Schiff is auditioning for a Senate race. He’s thinking Dem Senator Diane Feinstein of California, who is 86 now and would be 90 in 2024, is going to retire and not make the 2024 race. That would leave it open for Schiff.

RELATED: States Speak Up Asking Senate to Throw Out Impeachment

His lack of candor would integrate well in ignoring the state’s dark ages public health standards. His intolerance works with their PC culture and his likely soft socialist economic ideas will mesh nicely with their soon-to-be Venezuela fiscal status.

But he will not be alone in chasing that poisoned chalice.

CA Bolshie Governor Gavin Newsom and his radical leftist Attorney Xavier Becerra are also said to be eyeing the seat. And why not?

Newsom is a Ken doll long on narcissism and short on ideas, perfect for a state where pectoral muscle measurements are generally greater than IQ.

Becerra is a Latin and thus, given the blatant racism at the core of the state and national Dem party, will have a leg up based only on his ethnic heritage.

A primary race between those three would be a race to the bottom of an ideological abyss. They would try to outpromise each other with free goodies for Californians and, as the president would be leaving office, would run on an end to the horror of Trumpism and a bright classic red future with one of their hands at a senatorial tiller.

RELATED: Colbert Attacks Melania, Grisham Wasn’t Having It

However, as we’re seeing now in Iowa, it will also quickly degenerate into a slagging match.

Given the internal Dem animosity between black and Jewish voters, Becerra would use his minority bona fides to attack Schiff on that front. Newsom would claim he is the only candidate with governing experience, if you count reducing his state to an open sewer as governing.

Schiff will claim to be the man who nobly tried to oust Trump. He will gloss over his failure in that regard.

One of them will win the primary and be elected to the Senate in Dem California.

Schiff is making his move on that right now.

Bloomberg Trolls Trump and then Loses the Ball

By David Kamioner | January 23, 2020

President Trump and Dem primary candidate Mike Bloomberg traded barbs over Twitter Thursday, as Trump accused the former NYC mayor of covertly planning to abandon the Dems if he doesn’t get the nomination.

Bloomberg is currently promising to fund the Dem campaign all the way through November, which Trump says is buying him a waiver on political strikes.

Here’s the president’s attack.

And Bloomberg’s response.

Also included in the tweet is a story about a campaign spot Bloomberg is running against Trump. In the spot Bloomberg, very shrewdly, hits Trump from the right to appeal to moderate Dem votes in the south. This is in keeping with Bloomberg’s hold your fire until Super Tuesday strategy of playing rope-a-dope until that group of primaries on March 3rd.

RELATED: States Speak Up Asking Senate to Throw Out Impeachment

But still more interesting is his succinct tweet response to the president.

No histrionics, no drama, no weird screaming leftism. What we see there from the Bloomberg team is concise calculated on target sarcasm. He seems to have bought a sharp media team with his billions.

Party-hopping Manhattan mogul vs. party-hopping Manhattan mogul. It would be an interesting fall race.

But all is not rosy for the former GOP and then Independent mayor.

Wednesday he inexplicably went after Texas hero Jack Wilson. Wilson’s quickdraw response saved countless lives when a gunman opened fire in a church last month.

Bloomberg opined on Wilson, “Yes, it may be true — I wasn’t there and I don’t know the facts — that somebody in the congregation had their own gun and killed the person who murdered two other people. But it’s the job of law enforcement to have guns and to decide when to shoot. You just do not want the average citizen carrying a gun in a crowded place.”

Either the same media team that produced the superb response to the tweet dropped the ball bigtime on this one, insulting a national hero and a man wildly popular especially in the south, or the candidate was solo riffing off-script and reverted to his Manhattan nanny state tendencies.

RELATED: Tulsi Gabbard Announces $50M Lawsuit Against Hillary Clinton

Which Bloomberg will we see before and after Super Tuesday?

The canny operator who knows what to say and when to say it to a moderate audience, as in the tweet, or the liberal NYC politician who is handicapped by his quiche and Chardonnay political ideology?

Stay tuned to LZ for the answer.

Boston Poll Puts Sanders on Top in New Hampshire

By David Kamioner | January 23, 2020

Bernie Sanders is on a roll.

No, not a kaiser roll.

His political timing is hitting apogee at just the right time for the nation’s first Dem primary (Iowa is a caucus), as a Boston-based WBUR poll Thursday puts him at 29% in New Hampshire. That’s a strong lead over Buttigieg at 17%, Biden at 14%, and Warren at 13%. Everybody else is in single digits.

The poll was conducted by talking to 426 likely voters in the Granite State. The contest is in three weeks.

RELATED: Colbert Attacks Melania, Grisham Wasn’t Having It

But Sanders is off the campaign trail until the impeachment trial of the president is over.

Will his lead hold until then?

However, he’s top dog now and is also having a great fundraising cycle. The recent kerfuffle with neighboring Massachusetts’s own Dem Senator Elizabeth Warren only seems to have helped as, incredibly, most appear to believe he never said it. Thus Warren, not him, has taken the hit even with women.

The guy is on a lucky streak.

In a stinging indictment of the American education system, Sanders is killing it with Dem voters under 30. The socialist is taking an absolute majority of 52% of these sad ignorant toddlers. On the other hand, Biden leads with voters over 60.

They vote.

One interesting thing about this poll. A full third of male Dem NH voters approve of the way President Trump has dealt with the economy.

If that were to hold for November and even half of those voters swing to the GOP, Trump would win there handily. He narrowly lost to Clinton in the state in 2016.

Yet another reason to applaud toxic masculinity. But Sanders’ good fortunes make life easier for Trump as well.

RELATED: CNN Analyst Admits ‘Maybe I Made Up the Convo’ Between Two Senators Shocked at Trump’s Action

Regardless of the conformist bleatings of the kiddie set, who vote in low numbers anyway, a socialist with a pro-communist past is likely too far left for America and the president would romp to a reelection victory much like Nixon in 1972 or Reagan in 1984.

Dem pros know this, as does Hillary Clinton, and want to forestall that fate not only for electoral credibility but to prevent a crashed and burned Dem party from being bought at fire-sale political prices by the Obamas.

The duo would move in on the prostrate remains of the party like ravenous vultures at a rodent buffet in preparation for Michelle’s very probable statewide run in Illinois and then her eventual run for the White House.

Schiff Ressurrects Domino Theory

By David Kamioner | January 23, 2020

This article is far too short a space to list all of the instances from 1945-1991 that the U.S. Democratic Party hosted communist agents of influence or worse or took the communist line in national security matters.

From Alger Hiss and Harry Dexter White to Henry Wallace, from Tom Hayden to the Dear Commandante Letter, from Ted Kennedy asking the Soviets to intervene in the 1984 American presidential election to the modern socialist ideals of today’s Dems, this party has tilted hard left even at the expense of U.S. combat troops in the field.

So that gives them little credibility in bringing up the scary Russians now, especially after said Russians were defanged by GOP defense and foreign policies they consistently opposed for decades.

But credibility and the massive lack of it does not concern Dems.

Hence why Adam Schiff felt comfortable invoking the Domino Theory (the idea that if one nation falls others will as well, leading right up to our shores. It was used by LBJ to rationalize our involvement in the Vietnam War) in a Senate impeachment trial diatribe against President Trump.

RELATED: States Speak Up Asking Senate to Throw Out Impeachment

“As one witness put it during our impeachment inquiry, the United States aids Ukraine and her people so that we can fight Russia over there, and we don’t have to fight Russia here,” Schiff incredibly said.

Wow. Just wow. It is akin to Martin Bormann standing in front of a synagogue and vowing, “Never Again.”

Aside from Schiff’s unintentionally comic highlight day two proceeded much like day one, substituting nonstop Dem babbling for a GOP 11-0 rout of the disloyal opposition.

Schiff, in his amazing capacity to shock with sheer stupidity, also made the argument that the president needed to be removed because he poses a threat to an election that hasn’t happened yet and which the outline of is nowhere near clear. Yes, Trump has already, by Schiff’s reasoning, fixed the 2020 bout.

RELATED: Chief Justice Roberts Forced to Play Referee During Impeachment Trials

Neat trick, that.

Well, by that logic, let’s exclude any candidate from any future election because they potentially could “cheat” (Schiff’s favorite word as of late) and thus render democracy impotent.

Does the hair bronzer-using guy ever listen to his own words? Or are they drowned by the sharply pinging sounds of his mental process throwing pistons?

Either way, we only have another two days of it and the GOP mercifully comes to bat.

Proof, there is a God.

Long, Drawn-Out Trials Are No Way to Convince Anyone of Anything

By David Kamioner | January 23, 2020

If either side in the Senate impeachment trial of President Donald Trump believes they are benefiting from the non-stop talkfest they are currently engaging in they are sorely mistaken.

The current schedule calls for 24 hours, 24 hours!, of incessant gabbing by the Dems, broken up over three days. Then the GOP gets a crack using the same timeline. 48 hours of political chin-wagging in total.

Yup, 24 hours of continuous talk from politicians on both sides will do the rhetorical trick, ya think? Oh it may convince people of something. It’ll convince them for the need of a noose or a revolver loaded with one bullet after having to endure the kind of torture that would have made WWII Japanese POW camp guards swoon with envy.

RELATED: Hillary Strikes at Bernie, Trump Strikes at Hillary, What is Happening?

It’s a given that pols love the sound of their own voices. But they don’t generally love the sound of the voices of other pols. Does either side actually think that after hour upon hour of verbal assault a senator is going to rise and cry out, “I see it now! I change my vote!”

Not very likely.

This bad sequel to “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” cannot be designed to sway voters either. What sane voter wants to hear 2 days of a political diatribe even if they agree with half of it?

If you’ve watched the total proceedings to this point, as I have, then you’ve seen the Dems make the same points over and over again. The GOP lawyers will no doubt do the same thing. Thus, the worse indictment of this court schedule?

It’s bad television.

The only possible motivation is to draw out the process. It’ll benefit the GOP, as a tired public will grow more weary of impeachment with every passing day.

It’ll benefit the Pelosi-picked House managers because it gives them national exposure and hours of free advertising.

It may also benefit Biden and other Dem candidates by keeping senatorial candidates Warren, Sanders, and Klobuchar stuck in the Senate while other contenders merrily hop across Iowa.

RELATED: States Speak Up Asking Senate to Throw Out Impeachment

It is 2020 and the average consumer and voter attention span is that of a flea. Thus 48 hours of excruciating political theater must be seen as a tad too much.

The Dems seem to want to take up every second of it with never-ending argle bargle. When they get their shot in a couple of days hopefully the GOP won’t be so self-obsessed

Trump First President in History to Speak at March for Life

By David Kamioner | January 22, 2020

On Friday President Donald Trump will be the first president to address the March for Life rally in DC in the 47 years the event has taken place.

The rally brings together Americans from all over the nation who oppose abortion. About 100,000 attend and last year Vice-President Mike Pence made an unscheduled appearance, much to the delight of the audience. This announcement came on the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion.

RELATED: Why 2020 Will Be a Vital Year for the Supreme Court

Jeanne Mancini, president of the group that organizes the march, had this to say:

“From the appointment of pro-life judges and federal workers, to cutting taxpayer funding for abortions here and abroad, to calling for an end to late-term abortions, President Trump and his administration have been consistent champions for life and their support for the March for Life has been unwavering. We are grateful for all these pro-life accomplishments and look forward to gaining more victories for life in the future.”

The president’s canny media move will rain on the PR parade of House Dems who will be wrapping up their arguments against him in the Senate impeachment trial.

In a further goading of the Left, his participation will draw out the vicious criticism of the abortion on demand and partial-birth abortion crowd.

The abortion hardliners will want their share of air time as well, thus also contributing to a lack of attention for the House Dem impeachment managers.

While it must be granted that many have sadly come to view abortion as a legal right, many also draw the line at partial-birth abortion and agree with numerous state laws restricting access to the fatal procedure. The president will no doubt also be talking to those relatively moderate voters in his address to the rally.

Pro-life and social conservative groups were first leery of Trump when he joined the 2016 race for the presidency. He had been a registered Democrat, an outspoken supporter of and donor to Dem campaigns, and was not viewed as reliable on social issues.

His personal life also left some traditionalists aghast.

But his actions as president have proven his pro-life bona fides and social conservatives largely and enthusiastically have come to support him for reelection.

States Speak Up Asking Senate to Throw Out Impeachment

By David Kamioner | January 22, 2020

Fox News reports on Wednesday that 21 GOP Attorneys General have requested that the U.S. Senate bounce both articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, saying that the impeachment and trial, “establishes a dangerous historical precedent.”

They pulled no punches.

“If not expressly repudiated by the Senate, the theories animating both Articles will set a precedent that is entirely contrary to the Framers’ design and ruinous to the most important governmental structure protections contained in our Constitution: the separation of powers,” the AGs said. They continued.

RELATED: Tulsi Gabbard Announces $50M Lawsuit Against Hillary Clinton

“Even an unsuccessful effort to impeach the President undermines the integrity of the 2020 presidential election because it weaponizes a process that should only be initiated in exceedingly rare circumstances and should never be used for partisan purposes.”

In conclusion, they noted, “It cannot be a legitimate basis to impeach a President for acting in a legal manner that may also be politically advantageous.

Such a standard would be cause for the impeachment of virtually every President, past, present, and future.”

The letter was signed by the GOP Attorneys General of Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and West Virginia.

The states have hit upon a point also stated by the president’s lawyers in the trial and by Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) last week. At least three of the “jurors” in the Senate, Warren, Sanders, and Klobuchar, would directly benefit from a partisan guilty verdict.

RELATED: Chief Justice Roberts Forced to Play Referee During Impeachment Trials

How can a person with that kind of conflict of interest sit on the jury? In fact, the entire 47 member Senate Dem caucus would benefit.

How indeed can they sit in judgment of the man they have already said they desperately want removed from office before he is reelected?

The GOP is in the same boat, you say. They directly benefit from the president’s acquittal. But the GOP didn’t bring these charges, they did not initiate this fiasco and weaponize a process that should be reserved for solemn and dangerous constitutional questions.

Like these:

FDR trying to pack the Supreme Court to ram through more socialism? Sure, impeach and convict him.

John Kennedy’s 1960 election stealing and intimate mob ties? Boot him.

Jimmy Carter, well, just on general principle? He’s history.

But this president has done nothing wrong and these states know it. As does, the American people.
