CPAC Chairman Says He Couldn’t Guarantee Romney’s ‘Physical Safety’ at Conference

CPAC Chairman Says He Couldn’t Guarantee Romney’s ‘Physical Safety’ at ConferenceThe chairman of the Conservative Political Action Conference raised eyebrows over the weekend when he remarked that he would fear for Senator Mitt Romney's "physical safety" if he attended the conference.“This year, I would actually be afraid for his physical safety, people are so mad at him,” CPAC chairman Matt Schlapp told Greta Van Susteren on Fox News's Full Court Press.Romney, a Utah Republican, angered members of his party earlier this month when he became the sole Republican to vote to convict President Trump in his impeachment trial.“We won’t credential him as a conservative,” Schlapp said Sunday of Romney's potential presence at CPAC. “I suppose if he wants to come as a non-conservative and debate an issue with us, maybe in the future we would have him come.”For some critics, Schlapp's remarks edged too close to a threat."I have not met a more honorable person than Mitt Romney," said Senator Joe Manchin, one of the Senate's most moderate Democrats. "It’s hard to believe that we have stooped this low."Schlapp denied his comments contained any threatening intention, saying he has "no beef" with Romney's family and hopes they "have happy healthy lives away from politics.""I wish Gov Romney no harm I just want him to find a new hobby away from destroying GOP momentum," the conference head wrote in a tweet. The newfound distaste of many conservatives and Republicans for Romney is a far cry from just eight years ago when the party elected him as its standard-bearer to take on President Barack Obama in the presidential election.Romney said his vote in favor of removing Trump from office was based on his integrity and his faith."I’m aware that there are people in my party and in my own state who will strenuously disapprove of my decision and in some quarters I will be vehemently denounced," Romney said during his Senate floor speech explaining his vote. "Does anyone seriously believe that I would consent to these consequences other than from an inescapable conviction that my oath before God demanded of me?"Schlapp, however, slammed Romney as a disloyal political opportunist.“He said he was going to be an extreme conservative, that he was the most conservative guy in the world, and when he came to CPAC, after 2012, he doesn’t want to have anything to do with us,” Schlapp said.

Schumer asks for sweeping probe of whistleblower retaliation after Trump’s retribution campaign

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is asking 74 inspectors general, in every agency across the federal government, to investigate retaliation against whistleblowers following Donald Trump's weekend firing of people associated with his impeachment probe, according to Politico.

On Friday, Trump fired National Security Council member and impeachment witness Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, along with his twin brother, Lt. Col. Yevgeny Vindman, who did not testify, and Ambassador Gordon Sondland, who repeatedly said during testimony that all of Trump's top lieutenants were "in the loop" on his Ukraine scheme. The Vindman brothers are both active-duty military and have been reassigned.

In a letter, Schumer call the dismissals "part of a dangerous, growing pattern of retaliation against those who report wrongdoing only to find themselves targeted by the President and subject to his wrath and vindictiveness.”

Schumer specifically asked to be updated by the Pentagon's acting inspector general, Glenn Fine, on how recently Defense Department staff had been reminded of their whistleblower rights. Schumer additionally requested written assurances that the Defense Department's general counsel would protect whistleblowers both past and present against retaliation.

After firing Vindman from his White House assignment on the NSC, Trump continued smearing him over the weekend, calling him "insubordinate" and retweeting a GOP congressman who called him a "leaker."

After This Criminal Abuse By Lawmakers, We Have To Send A Deafening Defeat To Dems In November

No matter the fake narrative you are probably hearing from the media, the criminal abuse of American intelligence started before President Trump was elected.

Under the Obama administration, our government resources were used to spy on and to slander Trump’s campaign to prevent his election. Failing that, the Russian collusion, Mueller investigation, and bogus impeachment were deployed to distract from the many crimes committed under Obama and Hillary, to give time to destroy such evidence, and to undermine and remove Trump.

All the above criminal abuse of our government was executed under the direction of the Obama administration and the Clintons with major cooperation and support from the MSM. And that doesn’t count the many crimes committed before Trump’s 2016 campaign by all of the above, and also by individual politicians guilty of less audacious graft and treasonous corruption.

All of these parties would like to see a disrupter like Trump removed.

In other words, there is a far more criminal activity that needs to be investigated and purged than a phony Russian investigation and bogus impeachment plot.

The media and Democrats are taking up the cause of Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman because Trump just gave him the pink slip. But an example needed to be set for what happens when one conspires against a sitting president while in the military. Some might call it treason.

Our Commander-in-Chief should have that little twerp “re-assigned” to Ice Station Zebra to inventory snowflakes at 30 below zero for a couple of years. And that would be the start of his punishment. Leftists have destroyed the lives of people loyal to Trump to discourage others from considering working for successful conservatives in the future. It’s time to return the favor.

My advice to the President is to correct the one major mistake of his administration, and that is to accept the resignations of all Obama holdovers in the executive branch as of noon tomorrow or fire them if the paperwork isn’t in on time. Do it now, before those loyal to the last President do him and the country more damage.

Probably most of those jobs could be left empty, and the country would still function. After all, most would be classified as unnecessary during a budget impasse and partial government shutdown.

Backfill here and there if necessary with people who’ll implement the President’s policies, not their own.

Democrats have been doing anything they want to do, knowing that they will be protected by the Deep State and the Democrat’s propaganda media. And knowing, based on previous experience, that Republicans will not retaliate.

Unless they see that there are repercussions for their hatred, corruption, and lies, they will continue to do what they have been doing. Voters have to make up in their minds whether they want to accept the failed policies of the Democrats or try to run this country with the conservative mindset of putting away for later and addressing things now on the local and stateside while removing the federal government out of our everyday lives.

Barr confirms Justice Department is reviewing Giuliani's Ukraine info

Barr confirms Justice Department is reviewing Giuliani's Ukraine infoThe dirt President Trump's personal lawyer is digging up in Ukraine is making its way to the Justice Department, Attorney General William Barr confirmed Monday.Rudy Giuliani's operation, which has targeted Trump's domestic political rivals like former Vice President Joe Biden, was at the center of the impeachment saga, and it doesn't sound like it's going anywhere. Barr said Giuliani, or anyone else for that matter, is free to provide the department with relevant information, and he and his staff have "an obligation" to leave the door open. That said, the attorney general appears to be looking at the info skeptically. "There are a lot of agendas in Ukraine, there are a lot of cross currents, and we can't take anything we receive from Ukraine at face value," Barr said, per CNN. "For that reason we had established an intake process in the field so that any information coming in about Ukraine could be carefully scrutinized by the department and its intelligence community partners."There have been past reports that the department has tried to distance itself from Giuliani since he became the subject of a separate investigation, but that seemingly hasn't held up in this case. > In the past, Justice officials have sought to distance the department and Barr from Giuliani since it became clear in recent months that the former mayor is the subject of an investigation by Manhattan federal prosecutors. https://t.co/kKrDu45jNy> > -- Kaitlan Collins (@kaitlancollins) February 10, 2020More stories from theweek.com For better pasta sauce, throw away your garlic Why Amy Klobuchar would win by subtraction Vindman dismissal spurs Chuck Schumer to request all 74 inspectors general look into potential whistleblower retaliation

Jane Fonda wears old gown to Oscars to fight climate change

By PopZette Staff | February 10, 2020

While presenting at the Oscars last night, Jane Fonda wore a gown that she had previously worn, saying that she was doing so to fight climate change.

Fonda appeared onstage to present the Best Picture award wearing a gown that she had worn to the 2014 to the Cannes Film Festival, saying that she was inspired to do this by climate change activist Greta Thunberg, according to Breitbart News.

Fonda said specifically in an interview last year, “I’m not buying any more clothes.”

“You see this coat?” Fonda, 82, said last year during a climate change protest, according to People Magazine. “I needed something red and I went out and found this coat on sale. This is the last article of clothing that I’m gonna ever buy.”

“I grew up when consumerism didn’t have such a stranglehold over us,” Fonda continued. “So, when I talk to people and say, ‘We don’t really need to keep shopping. We shouldn’t look to shopping for our identity. We just don’t need more stuff,’ I have to walk the talk. So, I’m not buying any more clothes.”

Fonda has become known as of late for getting arrested on Fridays during climate change protests in Washington D.C.

“We marched together and we protested together and chanted and sang together and we got arrested together,” Fonda said of a recent protest. “The purpose was to raise awareness of the urgency of the climate crisis.”

Aside from her acting, Fonda was previously known for her protests against the Vietnam War, during which she earned herself the nickname of Hanoi Jane by being photographed sitting on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun.
